Emily

My family has been experiencing the spirit of a little girl since the early 90's. It began when I was little. My mother was out the front of our house when she thought she saw me in a red dress run up the driveway and in the the back yard. She didn't think much of it until later that day when she realized I didn't have a red dress. Mum was a bit freaked out and didn't see her again. We moved to many places since that happened and mum thought it was a once off or the spirit belonged to the house.

In 2000, my mum divorced her husband and we moved to a small house on the outskirts of town. A year later she fell pregnant with my sister. She was in the shower trying to sooth her back pain when she heard a long drawn out "MUUUUUUM." She hopped out the shower and came to find out what I wanted, but I was next door talking with the neighbors. When she told me about it I just shrugged it off as her imagination (while I grew up believing in spirits I don't freak out at every noise).

Not long after my baby sister was born I started hearing the little girl too. I would hear her giggle. My CD player volume would go up and down, but it was all in fun so I just accepted it as a part of life. One night when our little ghostly house guest was making herself known, mum and I both had it pop in to our heads that her name was Emily. Now, when she got too much we would say her name and ask her to stop and she would. We ended up moving out of that house and I became an unruly teen so we never really noticed if she came with us or not.

Life went on and she seemed to be forgotten. That was until I grew up and moved out of home with my boyfriend in 2008. We just happened to move into the home mum saw Emily on the drive way. One early morning we got home from clubbing around 4:00 a.m. My boyfriend fell asleep and I just lay there listening to the silence when I heard little feet shuffle up the driveway and to the carport. It sounded like a child was running around the car and smacking the panels. It went on for about 10 minutes and freaked me out a bit.

Later that week I woke up to the sound of a little child singing in my living room. When she finished, I heard her say "I love you." It didn't scare me but made me feel warm and fuzzy to know that she was glad I was back in this house.

She also seemed to take a liking to my boyfriend and has a sense of humor too. I used to keep a bowl of lollies up on top of my fridge. One night when we went to bed there on my boyfriend's side of the bed was my heart shaped pencil eraser and one of the lollies on top of the fridge. He freaked out a bit but I couldn't stop laughing because the brand of lolly was Ghost Drops.

My partner was working on his car when he lost his grip on the tool he was holding and he heard it hit the side of the garage. When he looked for it, it wasn't there. He stomped back to the car and there was the tool sitting on the passenger seat. That was the moment he realized I wasn't crazy and started to believe in Emily.

I fell pregnant with my son in 2011 and we haven't seen or heard of Emily since and a huge part of me misses her. I hope that if she has gone she has moved on to the afterlife.

I laughed when you named the brand of lollipops! Even though I don't know them (I'm not from Australia, but Dutch) it sure made me smile.
Cute how she seems to give your boyfriend his share of attention as well, it's like having an invisible child, instead of the invisible friend some of us has when we were little.

I enjoyed the story greatly and I hope the little sweetheart will find her way to you to show she still cares someday:3

I agree Dan I may have turned myself off to it for a while I didn't notice any of the other spirits I have sensed in my home or elsewhere for the duration of my pregnancy. Maybe the hormonal changes turned my brain off to it or they thought it best not to bother me while I was going through the pregnancy

It is interesting I would have guessed that Emily's activity would have increased whilst you were pregnant with your son. Perhaps as Miracles pointed out, you switched yourself off from being able to perceive her attempts of attention at that time. I honestly think you will have more experiences of a positive nature now that your son is there aswell. All the best to you. 😊

Thank you for sharing.

:) Maybe you quit experiencing Emily's ghost because her soul reincarnated in your son.

The ending is sad. I have those experiences too. When I was a kid we had a 6 year old little girl. She would leave for a while and I would be really sad

lissy86 oh I didn't realize your little one was already a year old, when you said in your story you fell pregnant in 2011 it didn't add up in my head that he would be that old, I hope she does come and visit you soon 😊

I have heard stories of this before, where an unloved, or neglected child dies young, when they find a good family that 'completes' them and they go on to the after life, emily sounds like a sweet person, and you have helped her go on to a better place 😊

I am sure Emily misses you too

aaaaaaawwwwwww! 😳 that's soooooo cute! I too hope that she has moved to a better place and I am happy for you that the spirit of Emily was kind and sweet not evil. I wish you all the best for you, your boyfriend and your little boy. Has he been born yet? If he hasn't Emily may appear again after his birth but if he has already, maybe she has moved on in acceptance that she is not your little girl and he is your little boy and has moved on to probably be with her real parents in heaven. Best wishes xxxxx

The spirit had that familiar feel about it that's why I always assumed it was the same little girl. My son is a year old now and I haven't experienced Emily but my little man does have "invisible friends"

Emily sounds like a very sweet natured and playful little ghost, in your story you said when your mum was pregnant you guys didn't hear from emily until after your brother was born, maybe she doesn't like freaking out pregnant ladies and she'll be back again after the arrival o your son?

It's okay to have ghosts in the house as long as they're good. Emily is one of those. ❤

Interesting... If that were me, I would definitely freak out, probably have a heart attack (lol I'm a teenager) and move out. XD But anyways, I hope she is happy where she is.:)

Lissy - having lived with little girls spirits for many, many years, I just have a thought. Or two 😉.

It's possible the little girl spirit in the home you and your mom lived in before your sister was born, that you and your boyfriend moved into, isn't the same little girl spirit as in the other home.

The reason I suggest this is because I have lived in several different homes and each of them had different little girls spirits. They never move with me. I just seem to attract little girl ghosts, for whatever reason. They all seem to be around the same age, though.

Also, you said you don't notice Emily around now that you are pregnant. When I was pregnant with my little boy, I shut myself off. I didn't realize I had done it, but I did. I'm just taking a guess here, and I could be wrong. I am known to be wrong upon occasion 😉. If Emily hasn't gone on, I think she'll show up. It might be a year, or two, but I think she'll make herself known. My little girls liked babies and toddlers.
