A Woman Behind The Door

This isn't a one time story, this is a reoccurring story. When I was younger my mother and I were looking through her old high school year books, well as I'm looking through them this one girl stood out to me... And every page I looked at she was the first thing drawn to me. Well anyway, I asked my mother who she is and why I keep seeing her, and she said "oh she committed suicide in her parents basement."

I used to live in an older house, a little over 100 years old. We recently moved into a 10 year old ranch. In my old house my bedroom faced the hallway so I could always see if anyone was coming towards my room. Every night I saw a shadow dart past my door to the bathroom, I began having trouble sleeping, as I still do to this day. My parents would say it was just my imagination, so I had a few friends sleepover and they noticed it too, they actually made me shut my door.

I started feeling tickles and laughs and things would fall off of my shelf, I told my aunt and she said she was talking to a medium and she said my grandpa was going to see one of the girls this weekend, being me or my sister. So I was thankful to hear it was my grandpa, only it wasn't.

We had one day left in our old house before we were moving into the new, so a friend of the family got a medium from Ohio to check out our house. This woman obviously knows nothing about us. She's telling all these stories about what she's seeing but I was barely paying attention because I wanted to hear her say my grandpa was upstairs and as were walking upstairs towards my room, I remember her saying "I don't sense anyone here. Oh wait, there's a woman hiding behind your door" she said "there's only one spirit up here, her name's Linda." I asked what Linda looked like she said long black hair and that she was pretty.

She also said Linda didn't let any other spirit up here because she was very protective over me. Apparently Linda has dealt with experiences I have, being depression and mental illnesses, and was very protective over me and said she was sad to see me leave.

So a month later me and my mom were driving around a town called Ruthven, ON. We were dropping my sister off at a friend's and the "haunted house of Ruthven was brought up." I always heard about this house having many friends living in Ruthven and my mom was like, "Oh I know the girl who used to live in there." And a friend in the car said "Didn't she kill herself?" My mom said yes, in her parents' basement. My mom says her name was Linda.

I won't put the last name for respects of Linda, but my heart dropped. The description the medium gave me of the Linda in my room, looks like the Linda in the yearbook.

Biblio,

Excellent bit of detective work there my friend.
And to the Miracles for having doubts to begin with.

I really hate it when sites like this are used to publish
"made up or copied" stories just for the sake of seeing if
One can get their name up in lights.

Take care all and keep up the great work

It's on "reddit" also, thanks to "DreadfulOptimism," with the author listed as "deleted."

Every time, the word "In" starts the story instead of "It."

Nice catch, MissE!

This was posted on CORDELIASDREAD on April 16, 2016: "Real Ghost Stories: There's a Woman Hiding Behind Your Door" (Submitted by Emily T. From the United States).
Cordeliasdread.wordpress.com/2016/04/16/real-ghost-stories-theres-a-woman-hiding-behind-your-door/

It was reposted without attribution to an author, but, complete with the accompanying image from CORDELIASDREAD, on the "Paranormal Forensics" Facebook page at 4:46 am on May 21st, 2016. Facebook.com/440743012750025/photos/a.442469279244065.1073741829.440743012750025/608941639263494/?type=3&theater

It is on "21 Ghosts" -again by Emily T. From the United States, though there's no telling how long it has been there. This website is somehow affiliated with or operates the earlier Facebook page, but the image which was taken from the CORDELIASDREAD site isn't on 21 Ghosts. Http://21ghosts.info/real-ghost-stories-theres-a-woman-hiding-behind-your-door/

Though the pic is missing (as are 13 more!), Emily T. Posted it to nicedeskwall.com/damn-scariest-ghost-pictures-caught-on/

It had been posted on the now-closed "Chilling Stories" blog in June, chillingstories.blogspot.com/2016/06/behind-door.html
"Sorry, the blog at chillingstories.blogspot.com has been removed. This address is not available for new blogs."

It is on "wattpad" (but what the hell isn't?), apparently by "CareFreeHugz"

"balinaheartfillia" has put it on pinterest: pinterest.com/pin/353110427015506550/

As a bonus, it has the same spelling mistake for "recurring" in the first comma-spliced sentence, and the unidiomatic "for respects of Linda" in the closing paragraph EVERY DAMN TIME.

Thanks, MissE for making the observation which piqued my curiosity.

Girleye: how come your first story happened in Pakistan?

I'm trying to understand your background but... Putting both of your stories together is not easy. 😕

I'm confused. I've already read this. Is this a duplicate story? Nevermind, I probably read it on another site or something.

I'm utterly confused about this, the locations.😕

Got the same questions as Lady Glow too.

With regard to dodgy mediums, some check peoples social media to help give them dodgy readings. So even if no one tells them anything, there's still a chance they've been duped. Sucks that, because people are so convinced they're for real because they know they didn't tell them anything. Blergh! There's nothing to suggest the medium mentioned here was a fake, but there's not much to suggest they weren't either.

Girleye, hope you can give us some more details.

I have the some questions lady-glow does about the location. I also wonder why a medium from Ohio would go to Ontario to check out a house 😕 Not only that, but there is always a chance that the family friend did mention some things to the medium, perhaps unintentionally. And if this medium was a little less on the authentic side, she could have led the family friend to provide answers without the friend even knowing it.

I second lady-glow's doubts/questions about the attachment to you. If Linda had been a close friend of your mom's, or a family member, etc it would make a little more sense to me. And this is just a personal opinion, but in my mind there is a big difference in a woman and a teenage girl.

To be completely honest, I started to return this one because I didn't believe there to be proof of a ghost experience. However, I decided to publish it and see what the masses think.

Girleye - Because you were so focused on the girl in your mom's yearbook, and the mention of suicide, I believe power of your mind influenced your experience, or what you believe you experienced.

Unless there was something definitive about the girl the medium described to you, like a facial birthmark or a silver streak in her hair, an this matched the Linda in your mom's yearbook, I think you jumped to conclusions. There are tons of pretty girls named Linda with long black hair.

Girleye: I got confused about the location of your experience. Did it happen in Illinois or was it Ontario, Canada?
Were you living in the same house where Linda used to live?
Did your mother grow up in Ruthven? I assume she did, considering the fact that she knew Linda and the circumstances of her death.

I am asking these questions because I don't understand the attachment of the spirit to the place, or to you.

I'll appreciate your input.
