I'm really shocked how our stories link together. I'm not on the same level as you, Jav, and Lotus, but I can relate to a few of the experiences. I didn't even know that I was a SLIder. It's weird how these stories came this week, and it takes a lot to weird me out. Thank you for sharing this story though.

Hanbobs,
I am completely knocked back by all these related stories showing up at the same time. Each of them written by a SLIder, and each story related to the interruption our presence causes to the flow of electricity. It's got to mean something. I don't believe in coincidences, especially when it happens a third time. I am more apt to think validation at that point.
What strikes me are the people that have commented with their own experiences in this matter. Like zzgranny says, SLIders may be more prone to having paranormal experiences because of our physical make up. Something about us, some physical anomaly, has us acting as lightening rods. We can't control when it happens, but many of us seem to be able to sense it ahead of time. I know the lights will switch off and then go back on after I've passed. And just as in your case, it won't simply be one or two random lights, it will be the entire row going off in relation to my position, like a wave almost. Only to have them go bright again after I have gone a certain distance passed them. I keep saying I am going to measure that distance someday, maybe this is the time to do just that.
The thing is, it doesn't happen everywhere, or all the time. Sometimes I can go a month or so with just little random things going off and on around me, no big deal, then it will start up again out of nowhere.
~I can't keep a battery operated watch on my wrist without having to replace the batteries every week.
~We go through an alternator a year in both of the vehicles we own.
~I keep extra fuses in the glove box of both vehicles and have to replenish that supply at least twice a year.
~Florescent lights? Forget about it!
~Magnetic strips like the ones on bank cards? Don't even go there.
~How about headphones and ear buds? Talk about getting what you paid for. I have only one pair that hasn't fizzled out yet. I was given a pair of BOSE head phones that are to die for! They are the only ones that have held up.

I don't have high blood pressure, mine is actually so low that they will check me twice to be certain the first reading was correct.
One thing I have found that seems to help a little is wearing rubber soled shoes.

'You SLIders have the most electrifying personalities! ๐Ÿ˜†

For those of you who have had this a while, how have you learned to cope?

Wait a minute, I have had a few of these happen to me, although I'm not sure if it means I'm a SLIder or not. Where would I find this info? Hmmm

I am a fellow SLIder aswell. Ever since I can remember. My father is one & my uncle. I have left
Department store in the dark. I have cause terrible feedback while being on stage to the point that the whole sound board will go out & pots bust in side the speakers... I understand how you feel. Just know we are not alone. These are only a few examples of outages I cause. Freaks me out some times.

Hi, interesting story. However, something makes me wonder. It seems that your car doesn't suffer from your "powers" while all other electric devices do. Did you enquire about that?

Thanks

Hanbobs

This is what is so great about this website, when you think you are alone in your experiences there is always someone here that can relate to what your talking about!
I experience this phenomena with streetlights too and I was totally amazed and excited when Jav posted the link below. I never knew that there was a name for this and that so many others are SLIders too! ๐Ÿ˜Š

All credits to "javelina", I came to know about this. I think it was jesus_soldier's story where she had put up a link on SLIDERS. That sure would help you hanbobs. Here's the link by javelina http://paranormal.about.com/od/telekinesispsychokinesis/a/aa052508.htm ๐Ÿ˜Š

[at] DragonStorm80,
When I first brought it up, no one had heard of it. I found about it a few years ago myself. It made sense to me because I am a SLIder. It isn't anything you can control or harness. It just happens when we get around certain electrical devices and appliances. Up until I found out that there were other people out there like me, I couldn't even mention it because of the eye rolling and head shaking response. We all know how that feels, especially people here at YGS.
No, I haven't heard of any way they can test people for it. It's is still in the same limbo as paranormal research. But one part of the article does suggest using a household circuit tester. I have to check it out as soon as I wade through that greasy tool box out in the garage to find ours. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I never really read up on this topic a very interesting link, I wonder if there is any way you can get tested for the SLI? Aside from standing under street lights and running to and from them...

Thanks for sharing
