Rook and Shlain - no more editing stories when I have a migraine. I totally missed that this was a dup story. Ugh! Lesson learned here 😆

As for the other stuff, can't argue there 'cause I had the same reservations 😉 And yes, it was within my MOD "power" to have edited out the ending, but obviously I didn't. So, no leg to stand on there, huh? Just going to chalk this one up to a "WTH" moment and go on to the next 😆

Miracles,

Dear had I known you were writing as I was writing I may have worded things a bit differently... My issue has nothing to do with the 'experince/story' itself but the self promotion of their 'book' on Amazon...

My opinion is that bit should have directed them to the O/P's profile for 'more information' as the 'based on a true story' comment from the O/P calls into question just which bits are 'true'...It's my opinion that the O/P hurt the 'truthfulness' of their submission with this 'self-promotion' of their 'based on a true story' book. But that's just me.

It's good to know that it wasn't 'outright' missed and that you gave it quite a bit of thought before publishing. Thanks for all you do. 😉

Respectfully,

Rook

Shlain,

I did read that one at the time it was originally published... At that time (7 months ago) I had this to say...

"JulesVNess,

Do you and your Husband still own this home? There are ways of 'Cleansing' a home that can be employed and while this was a very trying and stressful time for you and your Husband while you lived in the Home this Spirit can be shown how to move on and the House can become a Home again. I hope you return and check these comments...

Respectfully,

Rook"

I did not check the O/P's profile at that time as there did not seem to be a need to do so. The O/P did not make another comment on that submission and has now submitted this particular 'story'. Don't you find it curious that these two submissions are, in your own words...

"Its the same as this one except what the entity said is different."

That makes me go 'Hummm?' Doesn't it make you wonder? A published Author, who has more than one 'book' to their credit, submits nearly identical 'based on true stories' for publication on a site like YGS. In fact the O/P goes so far to 'advertise' their books on this submission...

"If you would like to read more, check out the "look inside" of Beyond The Lennox Haunting, the haunting of me, vol 2 on Amazon. This is based on a true story that began in a home I had lived in a few years beforehand in the town of Lennox."

I'm not trying to give the MODS a hard time, but I do not mind pointing out the fact that someone missed the 'self-promotion' at the end of this submission. A 'self-promotion' that, in my opinion, should have been edited 'off' of the 'experience' before being published.

All three of the O/P's 'experiences' are very good, well written submissions... But I, and I believe others, did not become members of YGS to read 'Based On True Stories'. We joined to read, answer questions and if possible aid people who are having real issues with events they do not understand, events of a possibly paranormal nature. The MODS are not perfect and at times they miss things... Things that we the general populace point out to them. I feel this happens to be one of those times.

Respectfully,

Rook

Miracles, its just a republished version of another story of hers. Word for word! But its not expected of the mods to remember every story they read and publish. That would be impossible.

I knew this story would create some conversation, and figured most of it would not be good 😊

Okay, since I'm the MOD who published this one, I feel I should be the one who answers/addresses the comments, so here goes.

When I got to this one, I held it for awhile because I wasn't sure whether or not to send it through. Then the more I thought about it, I realized a couple of things:

1. This isn't the first story that is "self-promoting." I can remember checking out several different ones whether the o/p has mentioned his/her book on Amazon. Unfortunately I can't remember one of the stories 😆

2. I couldn't find anything in the Submission Guidelines that prevents this. Granted, I had a migraine when I was editing this story and I probably should have just reset it until I felt better or one of the other MODs could have gotten to it, but I didn't.

I'm not defending my actions, or excusing them, just explaining to y'all why this one happened. And I'm only explaining because I was hesitant myself to publish it.

I see ghosts and I own a drywall business... So if you need any cracks spackled, give me a call and I'll tell you a story while I work for your money.

Thanks for the advertising space, ygs.

Rook, Redwold, you should read the authors story "Get out of my room". Its the same as this one except what the entity said is different.

We should take it easy on the mods.

Rookdygin,

Well put-that post by her was a form of "bait" for the readers to get intrigued, then spend some money to buy the book to be able to know how it all ends.

😲
I am new here, but do understand that this site is about sharing experiences true to life and attempting to help others with their concerns regarding the paranormal.

I believe, if at least, she finished the story in a nutshell, would not receive so much critisism.
(at least that's how I see it) and hern intent was to enlighten others about the paranormal, without charging people for it. 😐

But on an optimistic side, you could say that at least she's cannot force anyone to buy her book, on the other hand I personally would never have bothered to read that so called story if I knew how it ended.

RedWolf,

You are merely stating your opinion concerning this 'Story' and the fact its from a 'Published Author'.

As far as contacting the 'MODS/Martin' you were well with-in your right to do so. It bothers me as well that a published author is submitting 'tidbits' about 'Based on True' Stories she has written and published. I've just been a member for so long I've learned to check peoples profiles... Real people will fill in the blanks and tell a bit about themselves... Self promotion there, on their profile, is one thing... At the end of one of their submissions... Well I for one (my opinion folks) do not like that, not at all.

Respectfully,

Rook

Rookdygin,
I didn't go to her profile. I went to the website she put up and saw that she has written several books. I did this because her self promotion annoyed me, and because of the last sentence of your first post.
I also e-mailed Martin in the contact us telling them she is an author because I felt it was unfair she was posting on this site. I told them that I in no way thought that any one of the people who decide what stories get published had any in any way anything to do with her self promotion. FOOT IN MOUTH. Now that you have enlightened me I have to thank you

To the mods and Martin if I in ANY way upset you I sincerely apologize. I did some research in the wrong place. Rookdgyn set me straight about JulesVNess saying in her profile she is an author. I put my foot in my mouth by posing in the comments that she is an author
Then e-mailing you. Again my sincerest apologies.

To JulesVNess: Please the next time you write a post let other members know you are an author prior to writing the story. I only ask this so nobody else makes an a$$ of themselves as I did.

Respectfully
Red.

To all members
I checked the "advertisement" JulesVNess put at the end of her story. This woman is a published author with several books. I double checked by googling her name.
I don't think it is fair to to other people on this site that she is posting a story on this site.

I'm interested in knowing more of your experiences in this house.

Do we have to purchase this book to know more about the Lennox Haunting or is there some other links with info you could give us?

Did you write the book?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Shlain ❤

RedWolf,

If you go to the O/P's profile they clearly state...

"I am an author, am currently finishing my next novel, The Lennox Haunting, which is also based on a true story."

I love the fact they stated this in their profile... Its where it belongs...WONDERFUL...what bothers me about the 'statement' is that it clearly states...'BASED ON'...BASED ON... What this means to me (my opinion here folks) is that 'some' of the 'facts' are true but a 'story' has been created around these facts and in some cases the 'facts' may have even be 'embellished' on in order to create a more interesting 'STORY'.

Of course this is just my opinion concerning this and in no way reflects the views of the Management or other Members of this site.

I too was enjoying this possibly true account. It is well written, possibly too well written. Then I was thinking that it was a bit embellished. I should have been tipped off when after she wrote her first two paragraphs she said here is part of my story.
Then she wrote if you want to read more and advertised herself.
Somethng isn't right about this

Regards
Red

You know, I was enjoying this well written and quite possibly true experience right up until it became an advertisement. MODS what's up with this?!?

"If you would like to read more, check out the "look inside" of Beyond The Lennox Haunting, the haunting of me, vol 2 on Amazon. This is based on a true story that began in a home I had lived in a few years beforehand in the town of Lennox."

I thought this was a site for sharing our experiences and a place where those who do not understand what may be happening to/around them can find answers or aid. I didn't think it promoted self promotion.

Respectfully,

Rook
