That was a great story. The paranormal activity seemed positive there and warm. I don't think it was just the woods and lodge which were haunted but more likely of the town as well. I don't know why that is. All I can say is they seemed friendly and obviously meant no harm.

Thanks for sharing your story it was great.

I do remember- I was a volunteer at the fire but came that close to killing myself (I was surrounded by flames!). I'm now mourning for the forests that have turned into ashes and the deer and other wild life that perished-so sad!

My husband and I are discussing about buying a house in Novi Sad, Serbia so who knows? We might end up going on haunted hikes together 😊.

I would love to see the photos if you could post them.

Take care and hope to have you back with more.

Another thing that was strange... We took photos inside the lodge as well as on our trail.
I am not a fan of photos (especially orbs) since they could be ANYTHING, but in one photo of us at a table there is smoke (from cigarettes, I am sure) and an orb looking thing near me (never showed up in other photos). This could be nothing.
Still, on the way back, I took a photo of my wife in front of me while we were near this supposed haunted forest and there is another orb like thing in the photo (no flash was used).
If I can figure out how to add them I will.

Thanks for the comments, KimSouthO and Sarah! I am glad you were able to enjoy my little tale.

Rhodes68, I thank you for correcting me about the toilet (my wife has to let me know ten times a day when things here are Turkish and when they are European. I might never learn!).
And you may be right... This whole thing never really was scary, just strange. I never felt threatened, just a little freaked out.
As for Bosnia, I have to agree and call it beautiful. I have been lucky enough to travel the area extensively and must say I love it here.
And just to add, my wife and I were planning a trip to Greece around the same time the fires popped up (remember that?). We ended up having to cancel our plans (arggg!).

Sorry it was a bit long, Francois, but I am glad you were able to enjoy. I know little of Eastern European culture concerning ghosts, but I will say our guide made sure we stayed VERY far away from the woods I mentioned (and if it was all an act, he and his wife did an excellent job).
If I can find any more information on this lodge, I will surely try and get it posted here.
As for other stories, so far I have just one more on this site, "The Burns' Ranch". I plan to add a few more and hope everyone will enjoy them as well as maybe give me some insight.

Again, thanks everyone for giving me your two cents and have a great weekend!

Dear troyarn,

I guess the woods are haunted, the fact that old Eastern European or Western European culture speaks of entities in the woods seems like a good explanation. Or like what Kim said it could also be the spirits of the visitors that wished to stay in the area or are bound to stay there due to some unfinished business.

The story was pretty long, but the details were spectacular and the plotline was just as grand. I hope to read more of your stories. If you find any more info concerning the forest and lodge, I would be happy to hear more stories about that location.

Thank you for posting your experience and sharing it with the yourghoststories community. God bless you and take care. Deus vobiscum.

Sincerely,

Francois 😁

Ahh, beautiful Bosnia! Thank you for an amazing encounter troyant and for the beautiful memories you provoked!

Judging from the particulars of that encounter, the man waving, the lit candle in the Turkish toilet (it's Turkish-style not European in general 😊), and the sound of footsteps in the lodge, you had a very hospitable and kind-natured host attending to his guests. I don't know if the haunting in the woods is any way related to the presence of the lodge but, despite the discomfort this experience might have caused, it didn't sound as if it was a negative one.

Wow, I would have had a difficult time sleeping there! Although, the spirits there do seem friendly. Maybe if you go again, you can get more information from your next guide.

With where the lodge is located, the type of village it is near and all the differing visitors, it is clear that some may have remained.

Great story, gave me a few chills, but great stoy none the less.

God Bless!

Hi troyarn,

Thank you for sharing your story. I also enjoy hiking. Next time I come into a similar situation you can be sure to know that I will think of your experience. Thankfully it's not frowned upon for two girls to go to the toilet together, if not, I would be terrified! 😨

Sarah.
