I am SO shocked that I didn't catch onto your name! I am a huuuuuge Lovecraft fan and I am also studying Japanese. I may be going there to visit at the end of this year. 😊 And I hope you don't think I was being condescending by pointing out the grammar thing because I even do that to myself... I go back and read things I write and think, "UGHHHH, what was I THINKING!?" I am SUCH a grammar nazi!

Anyway, I hope this situation clears up for you. Please let us know if you figure out a way to solve the problem!

The bout of S.P. I had, did not involve any type of entity. One thing I find interesting about that whole phenomena, the similarities. Every person around the world, in completely different cultures, have described a very similar entity. One would think, that a native living with his tribe in a remote jungle, could not experience and describe the same entity, as a person in, say, London. This however, does seem to be the case. There is much yet to be explained... At least in my opinion.

Nylarlathotepsama, not to scare you or anything, but have you looked into SUNDS (Sudden Unexplained Noctural Death Syndrome)? Http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudden_unexplained_death_syndrome

(Also, I have a son with Asperger's and know some of the characteristics of the condition. I was reticent to mention the above and hope that you don't focus on it too much. It's just an idea...)

Hey Number13 *waves* Thanks for the input. I hadn't thought of recording my sleep before, but now that you bring it up I believe it would be a very good idea. I'm glad for your concern. I'll keep all of you posted when I give 13's advise a try.

Oh note on my name; it is formed from Nyarlathotep (a fictional character created by H.P. Lovecraft) and the Honorific Sama, a Japanese word used for someone like a noble. These have no real meaning to me, just a name I enjoy and part of my extended study of the Japanese language.

Hello Nyarlathotepsama, it seems you have a name that's hard to pronounce does it, not to worry, because I do not think you're name is funny in a bad way, it is just unique, more to the point, I am number13. It seems that this creature and the sleep paralysis seems to be connected, it might be that this thing is something from the other world or maybe even worse. This is a test of faith my friend if you ask me, either you end this by ending your life or endure it, but maybe there's a way to end this, by maybe using holy water, holy crosses, get baptist, or exorcism is the way to rid you of this "test of faith". But it seems to be attacking you on your sleep am I correct? You should use an EVP and I videocam to cam and record what's happening on your sleep. Put it one a desk or a surface for the videocam and the recorder on your side at night and sleep. The answer to your problems might be in the both of the recordings. I am looking forward to see where this is going. Have a Nice life and Good luck.

*big grin* Wow, I am very glad that so many people are interested and have read my story, hehe I'll address a few of the comment here now because a few caught my interest.

Your post is a bit heavy handed, but not unwelcome. I am just unable to accept religion, but I am able to accept faith. It seems you are talking about faith, and I might just start down that road. Thank you.

Aussiedaz
That is powerful advise, believe it or not, my grandmother, Irish native, said something very much like that. I may just try laughing, taking amusement rather than fear.

I have indeed heard of the familiar. I did a lot of metaphysical study because of my experiences. I had once considered the same idea but I couldn't convince my skeptic self of it, but times are changing for me since the events have continued throughout my life. *nods* I'll look into it more.

Zzsgranny
I have been to a sleep clinic before, they ended up giving me sleeping pills claiming I could sleep through the events. They seemed to make it worse, happen more often, but that was a few years ago before I was an adult I should look into it again.

Ab42berry
I'll contact you, although I might still might need a little more convincing for an exorcism yet. Mostly because I'm afraid of the process.

Fizzdey
I had never thought of that, relaxing smells are known to free the mind and relax the body. Thanks, I'll give it a try!

DeviousAngel
My grammar is terrible, but it is almost a trademark. I write in the 1st person and when I try to go into 3rd person my grammar falls apart almost at once. I'm glad for a more skeptic view among these and I might even begin studying meditation, I've thought about it before.

I will be frank with you and tell you that the only thing that will truly rid this from your life is knowing and accepting the fact that you are dealing with a demonic entity and the problem is spiritual. I know because I went through a horrible experience involving demon spirits/fallen angels who did crazy things in my home, and attacked me and my family members after I started meddling in the occult with ouija boards, witchcraft, etc. Once, you got that down as a fact, understand that there is one true God who just like these demons, is also real. This God is JEHOVA who sent JESUS to be sacrificed for the sins of all humanity if they would only repent and believe in him. Religions don't matter. Just a true relationship with the creator. Do this. Get on your knees and close your eyes. Say God, I don't know if you're real. I want to believe you are real and that you can save me and protect me from these horrible experiences. If you are real, I ask that you forgive me for everything and anything I have ever done wrong or anyone I ever offended. I ask that you bring your holy angels into my home in the name of JESUS and cast out all demon spirits and may your angels fill my home with peace and security. I ask you lord to pour over my mind, body, and soul, the precious blood of JESUS that it may cleanse and protect me from all wickedness and evil. Speak to God in your own words like if you are talking to your father. You don't need fancy words with God or a special type of way to pray, just be simple, sincere, and real about what you are asking for, and ask it in the name of JESUS. Pray to God in the mornings, middays, and nights before going to bed. Next you go room for room in your house and ask God to rebuke and cast out any demons that may be attached to you or your home and ask it in the name of JESUS. Say it outloud and don't be afraid. God will be with you. He wants to set you free, but you need to do your part so he can help. Also, there may be open doors that need to be shut. If there is anyhting satanic in your home or idols of any kind, or occult symbols or objects in your home, GET RID OF THEM because these things can give the demon the right to be wherever the object is. Engaging in sin can also give the demon the right to be within you or around you. You have to turn from your sins and repent. Believe me, Sleep paralysis and old hag syndrome is just an ignorant attempt of the medical and scientific world to try to explain what is indeed a demonic spiritual attack. Yea, many think we are crazy. Just like my family members thought of me until it happened to them. If people only knew and believed the truth...

I have had many paranormal experiences since I was 3 years old, it is hard to say how many of them were real and how many were created from my own subconscious, I recently had this experience (sleep paralysis) of being held down. I could write a story about it, but I would only be fueling my imagination more so. Actually when it happen, I started laughing, this is my latest strategy of dealing with things that frighten me."IT WORKS" it vanished in 2 seconds. I seriously hope someone else will try this and email me at my address to let me know if it works for them, these episode scare the hell out of people, we need to unite as a community finding a solution to help those that suffer from this condition.

Good luck keep us posted

The scientific community attributes the visions that accompany sleep paralysis to hallucations. Similarly, realistic alien-abduction type visions have been attributed to temporal lobe seizures. The "Old Hag" hallucination seems to occur so consistently with those who suffer from sleep paralysis that Old Hag folklore exists in almost every known culture, including hawaii, where I'm from. I've experienced sleep paralysis that felt like an out of body experience, with an incredible feeling of dread, but not the Old Hag vision. I would definitely consult a specialist, no reason to live in fear if you can find the root cause, which is likely psychological/physiological. Good luck to you.

Have you ever heard of a "familiar". It is a lower level evil entity (but is subject to a much more evil over lord) that comes on slowly so that you become almost familiar with it and don't do anything to rid yourself of it, like seek Christian help and deliverence. It will not leave on its own and not without a fight and it will get worse as it try to invade more of your thought and activities. It wants to isolate you from others. You are basically its nice warm host and without you it is cast out into dry places until it finds another host. You will need help-google deliverence ministries.

Well, I suffer from sleep paralysis, and so do my kids... My husband has never experienced such a thing... He thinks we're all crazy! 😆...My kids have learned to accept it, and can go through it... I however have to try to stop it before I become paralyzed, as for me it is very frightening!...Are there any sensations that precede the episode like your ears ringing, tingling in your limbs, your head feels fuzzy, etc.?...If you can recognize the the signals soon enough, you can avoid the episode by changing your position or just moving your head or feet or arms or something...

And I would suggest a check-up with a sleep specialist... I really don't think that this has anything to do with your Asperger's syndrome... Only because so many people experience it...
Good luck to you, and keep us posted!

i have also struggled with the same crap you have & honestly, even though I was totally against it, the only thing that helped me was the Lord. I know you arent trying to hear that, I understand, totally. But my advice would be to get some spiritual advice from some one who knows what they are doing, who is qualified & who isn't going to be overly religious. There is hope, I promise. & keep on writing, would love to see some of your work. I am a writer as well. Good luck & God bless.

I think you should contact me I live in Washington State.
First what I think would help you is to put a bowl of white vinegar mixed with salt in the room you are sleeping in, also before you go to sleep, make sure you change out of the clothes you had on that day, and that means everything.

Also say psalms 91 and 71 out of the kjv bible three times morning noon and night. When you say them feel the energy of the prayer comming through you.

If you need and investigation or exorcism, contact me at

I have had sleep paralysis before but I never saw anyone, I was however facing the same window and almost knew something was there. I have the same thoughts and fears (the dark, sleep with tv on etc.) what I have tried before and noticed helps my phobias a bit is smelling something nice before bed like a flower or perfume, then I sleep with music on, also sleeping next to someone makes me feel a little better but I have to hold on to them.

Thank you for your post. Since I am also a writer, I couldn't help but nitpick at all of your improper grammar, lol. 🤔 I'm not sure about this "demon" you have been experiencing but I think it is likely a side-effect of sleep paralysis. Almost everyone who has experienced it has seen or felt something unexplainable and believed it to be paranormal. I'm pretty sure it's just your mind playing tricks on you. The mind is a very powerful thing, and it can make you believe that you are seeing, smelling, tasting and physically feeling things that aren't really there.

There is nothing to fear but fear itself. 😊
