Murder Of One on 2012-05-29

It started immediately after Jacob left and it continues today. When the ceremony that evening was complete, it was obvious something had changed. The darkness that had enveloped our place of business had been lifted and the atmosphere was much lighter. Unless you have experienced oppression from ...

Jacob on 2011-10-11

Marie McIntire was widowed in 1831 at the age of forty-one. She was left with a 985-acre farm and four daughters. From the 1830 census it stated that all residents of the property were white, or Caucasian. Residing along with the family at their place of residence was a man named Edwin. No relation ...

His Fire Burns Dark on 2011-05-24

The building our business resides in, had felt lighter after that night. A white light ceremony had been performed and many spirits which had seemed unable to leave were free to cross over. The following morning, the smell of flowers was unmistakable, and the building seemed brighter. But two weeks...

Walter In The Basement on 2011-05-16

The paranormal investigative team assembled around 5 PM at our place of business. Their leader was the clairvoyant I have mentioned in previous posts, the rest of the group was made up by her sister, and seven others. Other than the technical equipment manager, all of the members of the group had di...

Her Abductor on 2011-04-11

It was a typical summer evening, approximately 7:00, as I finished the repairs to the plumbing and packed up my tools to put them away. I was working in what was the converted farmhouse of our business property and decided that rather than carrying all of my tools to my truck, I would store some of ...

The Hunt on 2011-03-14

It was about 5:30 in the morning when I left the house. The sun would not be up for at least an hour, which would give me plenty of time to get to my deer stand on my property, and settle in before legal hunting light would arrive. The first thing I realized on that late October morning was that the...

Tickets, Please on 2010-10-27

Where to start... My wife and I bought an early 1800's farmhouse for the purpose of starting our business. After selling our business plan to a lender, purchasing the property, and several months of renovations, we were finally ready to open our doors for business. It was not long after this that we...

The Inn on 2009-04-28

I began working at The Inn shortly after I started my first year in college. Not the stereotypical college student, I did not enroll for my first semester until eleven years after graduating high school and needed to supplement my income with numerous forms of part-time employment. While patronizing...

330 Main St on 2009-04-27

It was the summer of 1992, about a year after my first paranormal experience. I was dating my girlfriend and eventual wife Terry, for several months. We decided that since I spent most of my time at her apartment, that it was time for me to move in. The house was a large, 1860's Federal-style brick ...

Why Me? Why Now? on 2009-04-20

It was the summer of 1991. I was dating a woman named Cary, with whom I had graduated high school. She was living in her family home that her father owned in the woods of a small town in upstate New York. The house was a huge three-story, A-frame structure built around a massive double sided chimney...

Oconto, Wisconsin 1952; Black Lake, Idaho 1912-ish...although I think you mentioned there were no bodies of water in the area; from what I have seen of Alabama, there is plenty of swamp and marsh. Some species' eggs or other immature forms of amphibians can lie dormant for a very long time, especially in unsuitable conditions. Any chance there was a drained lake in the area?

As for the cars, I don't doubt there existence, but your account that they were in perfect condition is suspect considering you never exited the car... In the dark... In the rain.

Isolde,
I am very sorry I missed this account when it was first posted...
Usually when we read a story, they fit into a category familiar to us and we recite what we know or experience to relate to the reader that we know how they feel. Your account sent me into a train of thought I have not followed before, so if it gets confusing to follow... You are not alone.
I don't know if you have read any of my stories, and this certainly is not a solicitation for you to do so; but my family and I dealt with a particularly nasty situation a few years back. The entity in question was for lack of a better term, a soul collector. Our property was populated by a multitude of spirits who seemed trapped by the negativity created by one. When we were finally able to make the negative entity leave, the others were released, but some chose to stay. Of those, some had history with the property, but others seemingly did not.
My reason for recounting this is that commonly when we talk about spiritual attachments, they feel or are considered to be negative. But I have found in my experiences in life that there is always a balance. If good has a nemesis, then so does evil. When our experiences took place, for every unnerving encounter, there was often times an encounter with others that provided comfort, or at a minimum, a distraction from the darkness.
I don't know and actually doubt whether your experience involved an angelic presence, but I do believe it was a spiritual one. I think she presented herself to help, because she at one time had dealt with the same darkness you and your sister were experiencing. Why she needed you to verbally ask for her intervention is unknown to me, but you can attest that she showed up to help, as she was destined to do, and likely had done for others in the past. She has destined herself to protect those affected by the presence that haunted your family, now and forever.
I feel the spirits that still reside on my property are protectors against the evil that once was embraced by a prior owner. They know what it will take to protect the living if evil returns; as do I, when it is my turn to join them.

Matty-matt,
No offense intended with regards to the name; ygs history lesson would explain my comment.

Rook,
I notice the second photo is extremely distorted. The dark area on the floor seems to be an elongated depiction of the rectangular rug in other photos. Don't know how or why that would happen.

Narella,
Very possible... Seems like moving into a new home and going through renovations can be a pretty stressful time for some.

Granny,
Agree and disagree. The word manifestation should not have been in my first description, poor choice of words only because that term is usually connected to an entity.
But the Second Theory as we are referencing it, is a manifestation of the energy to a physical form, created entirely by the energy. This manifestation although in the form of some being (human, animal, turnip); was never alive, and in my humble opinion cannot be a ghost (even a noisy one)...which a spirit (to me); is.

Lou

Absolutely, Narella. I've heard of several cases brought on by stress, menopause, physical trauma, etc. In adults as well as children, teens, etc.

Pjod,
From my understanding there is a wide difference. A spirit attracted by the energy given off by a teen experiencing puberty is still a spirit. Whereas a poltergeist is a manifestation created by the same energy but has no base or source in the spiritual realm. Am I wrong here?
Poltergeists are energy. That energy has the effect on things in the environment and is known for the ruckus it produces. Especially when tensions are at their peak. It is how they are defined and separated from what we think of as ghosts, correct? So saying their activity is no different than spirits/ghosts is contrary to my understanding of this phenomenon.

Matty-matt,
Gotta be my least favorite screen name so far. Regardless...so, you felt threatened... So you wanted out... But even in your haste you took the time to take some quick pictures. That was quick thinking and actions... What I don't understand is why every reaction of hairs standing on end and goosebumps were included in the tale, but your actual actions taken were not? You did not say in your narrative that you took pictures when running out the door... The evil was right behind you!...but here they are.
I personally think drycleaners are a tormented bunch... I caught an apparition of a laundry basket once.

As for any friend of mine coming back in disguise; you can hope in one hand and crap in the other and see which one gets filled first. Greener grasslands elsewhere... All you've got to do is look for them.

As for the mod comment... Good luck.

goldduster,
There were two significant pot stirring identities here today, and if you compare comments I think you will see they are one and the same... Broken English suddenly gets better, dyslexia becomes fluent. If you've been here long enough, you know the source... Although the choice of targets makes one think there may be trouble in paranormal paradise.

webbie,

Yeah, I was looking forward to that one, it is a shame they decided against an investigation. In that case there was no falling water though... Just the puddles and footprints. Their house was a corn field away from a pretty significant river, and we suspected the spirit may have been a drowning victim; or a victim of something else that ended up in the river. But we will never know for sure.

webbie,

I had this happen to me three or four times over a couple of days. The drops hit my head and shoulders. At the time, I was part of a paranormal investigative team and I had been talking with a client over the phone regarding puddles of water and wet footprints they were finding in their home, when none of its living occupants could have made them. I assumed it was the spirit they were experiencing "coming through" to me. We never did do the investigation, so I have no other info to share... But it was interesting, to say the least.

Obviously, while the mods are away, the carpet bombing trolls play. Their sewing circle must have pulled an all-nighter last night.;)
