The Climbing Creature Or Childhood Imagination? on 2009-11-18

As I have mentioned in other submissions, I have experienced paranormal encounters most of my life from the time I was quite young. There is one experience / memory that still has me confused from a paranormal context and I can't decide whether it was actually paranormal or just a confused memory. ...

The Haunted Office on 2009-11-09

Twenty years ago I worked in a small agri-business in Salinas CA. The greenhouses and office were the first buildings on that site; no other structure had existed prior to its construction. The area had been mainly fields and ranch prior to the business being there. The location was very close to...

My Daughter's Experiences on 2009-11-03

My 16 year old daughter has experienced ghosts for some time now. The experiences have been with rather substantial beings, and generally she hasn't been freaked out by them. Most of them have been relatives that have passed. My mom who like my daughter was a dancer. This past summer though, the...

The Man In The Road on 2009-10-07

My siblings and I have always had the ability to hear and see spirits. Normally, I have seen fleeting images or more often, heard voices and noises about places. While I worked in an office where strange things happened due to a mischievous spirit, and experienced her turning on and off lights and s...

I'd be interested in anything else you've read or heard!

I spent most of my formative years in NJ--I grew up in Wash Twp, near Westwood, btw.

Where in Hayward did you live? The Hayward Niles Canyon road always gave me the creeps when we drove down it, even during the day. I lived in Fremont for two years and spent a decent amount of time on the backroads of Fremont and Hayward.

When I have some time I will tell about some of the unusual experiences my husband and I have had while driving through Pacheco and other areas of this part of Ca. Thanks for all the positive feedback!

We always suspected he was either a field hand or rancher that still lurked the fields. The odd thing is he was very menacing, while our female ghost was just the opposite.

Salinas really has this odd feel to it from a paranormal standpoint. The Salinas High Bell tower is definitely haunted as is the Steinbeck house. There so much history there, and some of it rather violent and emotional, its not too surprising.

The whole area up from San Luis Obispo to Monterey, Santa Cruz and parts of Santa Clara have a high occurrence of paranormal activity. The famous Brookdale Lodge is not that far from where I live. We've seen some really odd things going through the Pacheco Pass at night coming back from So Cal.
Kids do not have the the filters we develop as adults. This is why the hardest audience for a magician is a group of kids; they take everything in and their powers of observation are much keener than ours are.

Your finance did the perfect thing by having your girl tell the spirits to go away. If she ends up being sensitive, its a skill that will serve her well later on and give her confidence to deal with the here and now.

Thanks for the kind words. She's been under a decent amount of work load at school so that may be attributing to it as well.

I would love to hear more of your story. What you are experiencing sounds like my daughter's experiences and lately it has unsettled her a bit. She seems to attract female spirits and children as well.

As someone who is "sensitive" and has had actual encounters, I want to chime in here. What you describe sounds like either sleep paralysis or anxiety attacks. I have had both. In fact, when the stress levels in my job escalated, I had a series of night time "anxiety attacks" coming out of deep sleep and they sound exactly like what you have described. I thought I was having a heart attack at the time and I can see why someone would think it was a supernatural experience.

My advice if they start up again is to try to reduce your stress by taking vitamin B complex and make sure you get enough excercise during the day.

Hope this helps.

Becca--I'll post up the office story soon I promise; its pretty fascinating. Its probably the most haunted place I've ever worked!

When I was pregnant my dad would "visit" quite a bit. Once I had to drive home in my 7th month during a strong thunderstorm and the whole way home I smelled his pipe tobacco in the car. Also a plumbing problem in our apartment mysteriously "fixed" itself during my pregnancy (he was a plumber). If the energy is positive feeling, it may be your dad or a deceased relative checking in on you.
Ghost story: Not My Cats
Date: 2009-10-22
I lost two cats last year who were quite old (18 and 19). The female cat was my cat and we were very attached to each other. There are many times when I feel her presence either settle behind my legs at night or see a glimpse of a moving cat in parts of the house when none of the cats are there.

Along with sage, salt is also a good cleansing agent.

For some reason the spirit is attracted to you. If you feel the energy from the spirit is upsetting or negative, try wearing or carrying a hematite stone as well, which is a good for releasing or repelling negative energy as well as building up your own inner strength.

I worked in an office like that once. The ghost would unlock and lock doors and one time put a garbage can against an office door from the inside (there was only one entrance to the room and the door swung in). How did you feel about the place itself--did it give off vibes?

Two comments:

A great counselor once explained to me that postpartum depression can last over a year and goes in stages. So while your depression was different, it may have been a different phase of the original postpartum.

The other is that I have lived in apartments with negative energy and vibe, but with benign or even helpful spirits. It was almost as thought they were protective at times.

Coming from a family with strong spiritual tendencies, if you have any sort of ability to recognize or experience ghosts and spirits I'd leave the Oujia board behind. Its a flashpoint for spirits and more often than not, you attract the equivalent of lightening not enlightenment.
Ghost story: A Sad Christmas Eve

The "gift" does get passed down in families. There's a high level of psychic ability in my family--all of my brothers and sisters have seen spirits as has my Mom. My daughter and son both have seen spirits and paranormal activity. My daughter has a strong gift in this area and has seen spirits every where she's traveled. It can be disconcerting though when you mistake them for the living, esp. When no one else can see them.

It's a wonderful gift to be blessed with.
