Brother's Haunted House on 2009-10-27

My brother went through a divorce. He stayed with my parents until he was able to get back on his feet. He bought a nice little house in the burbs. My brother is no nonsense kind of guy, and has been in law enforcement for about 20 years now. About a week after he purchased this house, my mother cal...

trudy,
how interesting I found your post. I always believed a lot of hauntings were something of a negative force, created and constantly fed with negative/oppressive actions, thoughts, feelings, etc. The more it is fed, the stronger and more intelligent it seems to be. Starving it by surrounding yourself with good times, deeds, laughter, etc. Seems like the perfect cure.
real nice advice there trudy

can you write out some of the EVP's that were caught?
Your story sounds really interesting. As for the red millipedes... What are they exactly?

did I miss something that the other posters caught with their responses? I read it as, this took place at a house when he lived in Pa, although he now lives in tennessee.

wow. That is some story. Others can advise you better than I. But, I will say this. You may already be in pretty deep. You are giving this thing permission to do as it pleases. What happens if it suddenly becomes abusive. Not like you can break up over the phone. I would listen to the advice of others on how to rid yourself of this entity. Nothing positive can come of this.

Zeno,
wow, crazy happenings there. Anything else going on?

Baldfalcon,
"your powers"? Sorry, couldn't help but lol when reading that one.
"...closets are portals to the other realm"
Baldfalcon, why would you assume that? I believe that theory was used in the childrens film called Monsters Inc. Please, try to keep fiction seperated from reality.
Ashmill, may I ask a personal ques? Is there a negative type atmosphere in your home? Like a lot of arguments and such? If so, this alone may be the root of the problem. Try and set a positive tone in your home, this may settle what ever may be haunting your child.

interesting, and very well thought out. Instead of assuming the worst, you keep an open mind that it may be nothing paranormal.
I see many folks jumping the gun when it comes to sleep paraly. Good on you, and goodluck in the future.

there is a theory, that a haunting can be just an invisible force of negative energy, that needs to be fed to remain strong and active. Simply by surrounding yourself with friends, laughter, and positive good times, can starve this force--destroying it, or causing it to move on, in search of another place to be fed. My suggestion, is to try and surround yourself with these things that result in a positive atmosphere. One thing important, is to get on a regular sleeping pattern. Without the proper amt of sleep, none of this is possible. Go to a Doc, have him prescribe some Valium to help you relax enough to sleep. Try and starve this negative energy out of your life. Many people have reported good results with this.

very strange account, you have there.
I'd like to hear more, better detailed if possible.

Great story. Any other problems from that closet when you were a kid? That experience obviously made an impression, as you remember so many details. Why was your bro in with your parents that night? Did something also scare him?

interesting stuff. I'm not far from you, in Bristol Pa. Funny that the entity flew right for the window. What did he/she look like? Very curious.

Yes Kim, Irish Catholic
Out of my entire family, I have more of an open mind when it comes to these things. When I was younger, I used to follow a rock & roll band up and down the east coast, and only started to settle down when the lead guitarist died in '95. My brother, however, has always been a bit square, if you will. Wink Until this experience, I never much thought about the paranormal, actually assuming there was always some explanation. When I later realized that same night, that those footsteps went right through a locked door, well, that turned my reasoning up side down.

Zishu,
key words in her account... New job and new waking hours...also, she did not see anything to lead her to believe an entity was responsible. Her desciption is very much like the sleep paraly experience I had this past summer. It can be frightening, and I can see how one might question the paranormal aspect of it. And, I believe it's the skeptic who keeps people honest here. Otherwise, every bad dream, every bump in the night, and every time a phone rings at 3 am (wrong #) would be marked up as "Paranormal"-- How can the scientific community take us seriously, if we auto. Assume every strange thing that happens in our lives must be "Demon" related? One must dismiss every other alternative, before looking at something as paranormal, wouldn't you agree?

Again, I see folks jumping the gun with their responses and suggestions.
Zishu, why do you say "You have a Demon?"?
Why would you even suggest a worst case scenario, when it could be something as simple as a case of Sleep paralysis?

why anyone would go looking for these things is beyond me. I fell into my one and only haunting... And haven't had any run-in's since that night... And don't care to have them. That night, which was posted here in this forum last week--see (brothers haunted house) was quite enough for me, as it was the most frightening thing I've ever experienced. At one point, when all was said and done, I was waiting for someone to tell me I was on "Scare Tactics"-- no such luck. Do yourself a favor Lilabel, don't go looking for something that may mistaken your intentions as an invite into your life.

thanks angel and falcon
A stubborn irish cop, defines my brother rather well. Not sure anything I say or do would convince him to go seek help. Perhaps this is something he has to work out in his own head. I deal with it by doing research on the topic of hauntings, and by reading up on what others have experienced. Makes it seem more real, as now, after a year, kind of feels like a bad dream.
One thing I learned-- to be very cautious when buying a house.

Templar,
Why do you auto. Assume this to be an attack by a spirit? Why can it not just be a case of sleep paralysis? What she has described, what with the major interruptions of sleep in her new work life, sounds much like the one incident of sleep paraly that I experienced myself.

I see this thread is quickly being pushed to the bottom. Was hoping for more feedback, as I'm at a loss on how to approach my brother-- I really think he needs to talk about this with someone who can help him get back to his same old used to be.

thanks for your comments
My brother won't talk of this, and has asked me to keep it all under my hat. I have tried to bring it up a couple times, just to have him go on ignore. This night has brought me into the world of the paranormal, as I was a regular skeptic before. I went and talked to a neighbor of his, while he was selling the house. The only thing she could tell me, was that the house was a rental, prior to my brother buying it, and that it had a rather large turnover of tenants.

"it doesn't have to make sense, it's the supernatural"
Bldfalcon,
I agree, in that it seems you are taking advantage of the kind folks here, who like to offer advice, for your own pleasure. Keep in mind, you are contributing to the very reason, why the paranormal is not taken seriously by the scientific community. All a sceptic need do is offer a story like yours as an example of why no research is necessary concerning this subject. I had an experience a year ago. Before that I was a true sceptic, and would have used examples to make my case, examples like this story you published. Now that I'm a believer in the paranormal, it is easy for me to filter through stories and find the ones that are obviously false.
