I should have added to this account that in (almost?) all cases, the timing was between 3 and 3.30am. Every time my sleep was disturbed, I recall looking at my watch. From reading other accounts on this site, I've found that the this time is significant for supernatural activity.

[at] shads: Of everything I described, it was the bangs which really got to me. I have never been so terrified in my life. I really thought that there was someone in the house with a gun. I can recall the panic of that now. The adrenaline was flowing and I was quivering with it, expecting to have to get up and run. It is interesting that you experienced something very similar (I read your story. I can relate to your descriptions.). Also, I'm interested to know what doesn't seem right to you?

[at] agimat_warrior: I am indeed Protestant and not Catholic. However, my faith has only become particularly important to me over the past year or so (although I always would have called myself Christian previously).

[at] DARKNESS: I have just looked up "residual haunting" and it seems possible, given that someone else experienced some of the same things about 20 years ago in what may have been the same house. As you state though, that doesn't explain the interaction (assuming I didn't imagine that in a thoroughly realistic dream).
