Hi all. 30yo female from UK.
I'm on this site mainly reading out of interest as I've always had a fascination with the unknown and find the mystery of it all exciting. (It also really helps to have something interesting to read when I should be working!) However, it turns out the more I read your stories, the more I realise a lot of the experiences I've had are now a bit more questionable- I'm a very logical person and I don't let my imagination get carried away too easily so a lot of the experiences I've had have been swept under the carpet unfortunately, instead of being open to possible paranormal explanation.
May I add, there are some excellent stories on here, but often the comments made by posters are what I find more interesting as there is clearly a wealth of knowledge everyone brings to the table.
Thanks for reading and thanks for the stories, 27flowers.x

50 Shades Of Gr...green! on 2016-06-13

The following experience is just one of the many (what I believe to be) supernatural events (as always your thoughts are welcome) that I have experienced in recent years whilst spending time in Ireland. As I am from an inner city area in England I don't really get chance to escape the hustle and...

Mr Adams Vs Mental Health Professionals on 2011-06-08

As an Occupational Therapy student in August 2006 my final university placement was working in a small Mental Health team specialising in Rehab and Recovery - patients varied in diagnosis but all were severe and enduring- none particularly harmful to themselves or others, most stable and just strugg...

Thanks guys, it makes sense that they would be judgemental and that's fine! I do think there was more than one entity at that particular house, the one that kept dropping "hints" -which don't get me wrong was creepy but looking back quite harmless and then the other one (bathroom). That one just felt darker as it left a feeling of dread.
The thing about ghostly encounters is you are always left wondering "Why?". What happened, who are the spirits, etc. The history is limited but there are plenty of hand-me-down stories of sightings of a dark shadowy man and the like, I'm sure some have been embellished as well along the way in the nature that is story telling and the Chinese whisper effect.

On a side note... This house was on the coast and from what I've heard people who lived in that area (North Mayo) were better off than those in more inland parts of Ireland during the famine but still saw its fair share of suffering (excuse that phrasing) but had better survival due to being able to fish and live relatively remotely.

I'll have to start writing up the rest of my Irish encounters but they are short odd-bod snippets in various places so won't be as long winded I hope.
Thanks for reading:)

Love, love, love this! I have always had a "thing" for trees, especially the old crooked ones where you get the feeling it has witnessed so many years go by and changes and they just stand there silently taking it all in! I strongly believe that nature holds onto the powerful events -negative or positive that happen around it and somehow becomes part of it with a strong connection to the paranormal. Maybe it was a source of energy for these manifestations and that's why it appeared so depleted? Sounds a bit out there but just my wonderings!
I heard of an old superstition in Ireland that a lone tree growing in a field is always avoided or not removed for fear of being cursed, something along those lines...

Thanks again for this read, will be sure to catch up on your others!

Note to YGSers, not sure if others do this but occasionally I type a random word into the search engine on here and see what stories come up-I typed "yellow" for no particular reason (recommend this little method for finding gems) and randomly picked this story, glad I did! Lol! This gave me shivers! Great writing style and I can't imagine how you must have felt as a child to initially think that was your father and then realise it wasn't! Will be sure to read your other stories!

This gave me chills! Dogs are amazing animals, I'd be lost without mine. Thank god my dog and I haven't had any experiences like that in our home!
With regards to feeling like a "sitting duck" I have felt that way in a house I lived in a long time ago and it definitely wasn't a "home", I just couldn't relax and also did that thing where you don't talk to others about the stuff that happens in the house whilst you are IN the house if you know what I mean "the walls have ears"!

Wow just reread the related story and all the comments and blown away again, I was hooked the first time around. I do hope that eventually the "story" will be concluded on here (I learned of poor Keisha's end through Google but I mean more in relation to your ouija use), feels inappropriate to say story when so many lives were affected and some lost.
There should be a "classics" section for exceptional accounts like this one so new readers can get a sense of what YGS community is about. AMAZES me the support you had here!

Best wishes

Very interesting story, if this was sleep paralysis (which it sounds very much like) then I can appreciate how scary an episode can be. I had an "attack" of sleep paralysis recently in which I heard a Mexican sounding voice say "look out of the window" and my own voice warning me "it's about to happen" and then felt my body pressed into the bed (paralysis). My husband woke me up as I was trying to shout his name and all he could hear was me making a "muuuuuuh' sound which I could hear myself making! Interestingly I also suddenly "clicked" and starting saying the Lord's Prayer which broke the paralysis. I also adorned my crucifix the following day as I felt so disturbed until someone explained it all to me.

Also quick notes apparently sleep paralysis is more likely to happen either as you fall asleep or as you are waking which may explain the time query and when you are particularly exhausted. Usually the "baddie" is a reflection of your fears or culturally determined... (That silly Charlie Charlie game was happening around the time of my episode) And second point being that my ever faithful border collie DIDNT even stir. Charming!

Animals are really amazing at picking up the supernatural or just plain weird occurrences though!

Hope you don't experience anything like this again soon!
Best wishes

Oh simply amazing! I can only imagine the panic you felt, I worry that I would talk myself out of what I was seeing/experiencing but what is lovely is that you have an amazing belief in yourself and trust in C. What a relief it ended how it did!

All the best,
Flowers

Ps, I've just came back to YGS after a long break (couple of years) from reading and this story has made me remember why I used to love YGS so much. Thank you!

FAO Notjustme, I find your comment about law of attraction really interesting! Has prompted much thought, thank you!

Does anyone know of any stories that connect sightings or occurrences with the law of attraction? Would be interesting to read. I would not personally experiment but I have found that most of my sightings have happened when I have least expected, but then know of other people who seem to attract activity all of the time and I associate this with their almost obsessive interest in experiencing the supernatural...
Opens many debates I'm sure...

Love the journal snippets and weather is an interesting factor! I've never thought of adding that to my own entries I record, I will now. Sounds like your ghosty chap is hearing knocking too, or perhaps telling you he will knock? But then if he's got a voice and not shy about using it why knock? Never straight forward are they?! Great story will have a nosey through a few of your others have a missed a month or two of lurking on here.
I'm in the "2012 sucked club too", hoping memebership has expired now... Hang in there!

At spirit_juggler,
Hello fellow midlander!
Out of interest has anything else happened apart from the voice? Has your wife experienced anything at all?

Very interesting story. Sorry to hear about your son I can understand your concern. Have you had much chance to observe your son in any other environments- eg a friends house to see if he behaves the same or is this behaviour confined to your house/garden? Staring at a tree does sound a bit odd- I personally love trees and find them relaxing to be around but I think there is a difference here... As mentioned by other posters I think some professional help would be a good idea, accidents can cause more than physical damage... The loss of control experienced can cause such an emotional impact it would not be suprising if your son is becoming a bit obsessive over certain behaviours to regain a sense of control- similar to OCD? Just an idea with reference to you mentioning him getting up at the same time and doing the same thing for such an amount of time etc
Keep us updated, I don't get chance to post often but I'm always reading and would love to know how you get on.

Hmm something really jumped out at me then, the dead bees... Some people may read that and find it unbelievable but I lived in a house that I'm convinced is haunted and in one unused room there were constantly dead bees and wasps. We had searched the room completely for anywhere they could be getting in but never found so much as a crack, the window was never open as the room was unused and the door was always shut. I'd get rid of the dead ones and then a day or two later when I'd go in to use a large mirror we had in there I would notice them scattered all over the floor-never alive though. Horrible. Never found out why, there were no nests anywhere near or on the property and I've known both tenants after and they never had the same problem, but have had other problems with that room in particular- will write that up soon. Thanks for sharing anyway has got me thinking!

Very interesting, the topic of guardian angels in particular facinates me. I recently read a book by an Irish lady called Lorna Byrne (various youtube interviews available) and she claims to communicate with angels as naturally as with humans. She provides a lovely description of them that sits so well with my outlook and would urge anyone to read her accounts. A very sweet snippet decribes how our souls were sent from heaven with our guardians (who are a gift from god) to the body we were to be born in and then one day our guardian will bring us back home to god. I really like that idea.
Ive heard many stories like yours,I'd like to believe (only when our free will is not effected) our guardian can and will do anything to keep us-our souls- safe until we are ready to go back to god. I'm still sitting on the fence a bit with my beliefs in so many of the mysterious things in life (except my belief in God) but I hope one day for a special experience that can get me completely off that fence.

Aussiedaz,
I'm working my way through your stories at the moment to catch up after reading your recent story and the relating story Woman in Black. This is a lovely account and I hope some of the newer readers like myself take the time to go through your stories too, not only the stories but the comments too as it is wonderful how you bring so many of the regulars on here together sharing their ideas and similar experiences-as do many other peoples stories- and you are all a truly facinating bunch of people from my "lurking" observations over the last year-I don't often feel the urge to comment but I love to read the comments and this is a lovely story, clearly a lot of people can relate. So thank you for sharing such a personal experience and writing in such a down to earth, inviting style, no frills and theatrical statements etc Into the Faves!

All the best,
27Flowers
I think the suggestions so far seem likely, the writing may have been there before the fitting etc
Alternatively,it may be a considerate spirit drawing your attention to your faulty fire alarm? Not sure about the writing...

Hi Lydia. Just checking back on this experience you shared to see if your situation is still the same or changed in any way. Did you try the shielding/cleansing method? Hope all is well with you and your daughter and you are sleeping well. I've always thought "as long as they don't bother me in my sleep I'm happy" thank god I've not had any interruptions as obvious as yours so far:)

*bang head on desk* the moment when you know its fake but have to keep reading! I read the site everyday and don't often comment but I have a professional interest in mental illness and this story has just grrrrr'd me into posting my disapointment! If you insist on making up silly stories at least make it sound half believable please. No diagnosis? No sectioning under the mental health act? No cause of death? No autopsy? I will eat my words, literally eat my blackberry I am typing on if I ever see genuine proof that you are a Psychiatrist, let alone any proof of this story being real.
Back to reading genuine stories! Hmmph.

Wow so creepy! This is the first I've ever heard about black eyes kids, very interesting! Do these events tend to be one-offs or frequent sightings? Anyone know?
