The Thing With The Scissor Legs on 2016-02-08

It has been some time since I have submitted a story. Not much has really been happening lately up until this morning. I thought I would share this experience as, to be honest, I am not sure what I encountered. I live in Australia in Melbourne on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. It is summer ...

The Ghosts Of Walhalla on 2012-09-03

Walhalla is a small town located in Victoria Australia and is steeped in history. It was once a gold mining town founded in 1863. After the Victorian Gold Rush, the mining town was booming with a population of over 2500 people. Presently the town, I believe, has a population of less than 20 people. ...

April Violets on 2012-04-23

My Nana passed away just over 11 years ago. Out of 5 grandchildren I was the only girl so we were very close. Her favourite flowers were violets and she always wore a perfume called 'April Violets'. I can remember her big warm hugs and smelling the sweet scent of her perfume. It's one of the fondest...

Talking To David on 2012-03-28

I had often heard that young children are more open to the spiritual world and the below experience definitely made up my mind that this can certainly be true. The experiences happened to my best friend's son some years ago, which we still talk about from time to time. Going back about 13 years a...

The Fireplace Ghost on 2012-03-13

This is the first paranormal experience that I ever had. It took place at my Grandma's home and I was 7 years old. My Grandma lived in a suburb of Melbourne called St Kilda and lived on Crimea Street. Many of the houses in St Kilda were built in the late 1800's to the early 1900's and many were mans...

The Lay-away Ghost on 2012-01-25

I recently read a story on this site about an experience somebody had with a ghost in Wal-mart. This made me think of an experience that I have had with a ghost in a department store so I thought I would share my story. I live in Australia, and funnily enough the chain of department stores I am r...

The Coughing Man And The Scissors on 2011-12-14

I moved into a rented house by myself over a year ago and I have had some very strange occurrences happen in this time. The activity can happen any time of day or night and happens in all different areas of the house. I love the area that I live in and I actually do really like the house but a coupl...

Crisis Apparition on 2011-11-15

I have been witness to many paranormal experiences in my life but one experience certainly stands out in my mind involving what I believe to be a crisis apparition. This is an apparition that quite often visits people in forewarning of a death. It was July 1997, I was 19 years old and I had not ...

Wow I love this heart warming story ❤. I am a firm believer that our loved ones communicate with us through butterflies, birds or the loose feather or coin you see laying around when you need it most.

I am going to save this to my favourites so I can read it again if I need a pick me up story.

Thanks for sharing
As a fellow Aussie I read this without batting an eyelid knowing exactly what you were saying 😆 😆 [laugh. Seeing that knife drawer open would have made me almost soil my undies I reckon! What a scary thing to see. I would love to hear more of your experiences in that house.

Thanks for sharing
Hi Chel

This was a great story and one I can relate to. I have also had quite a few experiences of a loud voice that is in my head, definitely not mine, but very clear. Not too long ago I was about to pull out of my driveway at home and the loud voice said ' NO WAIT!' so I took my foot off the pedal and stopped. A few seconds later a little boy who lives next door ran out onto the road chasing a basketball. Had I not stopped I would have turned right and straight into him. I am assuming it is one of my guides but I have never been lucky enough to make contact with them.

I agree that it sounds very much like an elemental spirit/guide. Perhaps you were in the right surroundings that day, the forest, so you could hear it. That to me opens up a heap of questions like can certain guides only make contact with you in certain situations? Do they need to be in a particular surrounding to be with you?

Thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed this story. 😊
Hi Jay

I am also another person who has had sleep paralysis since I was quite young and I totally understand how terrifying and realistic it may seem. For years I was convinced that it was paranormal and I used to be scared to go to sleep. I did some research and was comforted to know that it is very common and that you can actually control it to a degree.

Generally there are common triggers which for me are always stress, being overheated, sleeping on my back or having a different sleep routine. Try and identify those common triggers as that may help. As your mind is 'awake' at the time try and think 'ok this is just sleep paralysis, I have this under control and I will wake up'. I know it is much easier said than done particularly when you are faced with these terrifying images but I think knowing what you are dealing with is the key to control it. Good luck and I wish you some restful night of sleep 😊

I really enjoyed reading this story and the responses and theories behind it. I can only imagine the terror you must have felt as a child seeing this. The fact that it has resonated with you all these years later tells me that it was a very real and horrifying experience for you. It's also very interesting that others have experienced face morphing as well. I guess it gives us reminders that not everything on the surface is what it seems. Thanks for sharing. 😊

I must say it's been a little while since I have been on YGS and this is one of the first stories I have read for quite some time. I wasn't sure if I was reading a story or watching a series of movies such as Amityville Horror crossed with The Grudge crossed with The Ring crossed with Poltergeist. Yikes...:)
Hi Sallie

Great story and very well written. I would have to also agree with the theory that Jack himself carries around some negative energy that manifested itself in your home in different ways.

I was also thinking that any energy that was in your house before Jack moved in felt threatened or simply did not like his prescence so the energy changed in a negative sense. Once he left the energy changed and became light again, hence you hearing the music again almost like a celebration.

😊
Hi Fergie

Wow what a wonderful array of paranormal scents waft through your lovely home (except for the farts of course lol that made me laugh so hard! 😆)

I think people are sensitive to the spirit world in many different ways. Perhaps the eaisiest way for sprits to communicate to you is through sense of smell?

The fact that many of the cooking smells are food that your loved ones once enjoyed is proof enough to me that they are letting you know they are around 😊

The journal is such a great idea too and this was not the least bit boring, I enjoyed every word as usual!

Thanks for sharing. I'm suddenly very hungry for some roast and sausages mmmm 😆

I loved this story and the fact that you did a little research to find out who this man was in life is fantastic.

It sounds like he once loved the home and his job and is sticking around to continue doing what he loved best.

I would love to read more stories of yours, I look forward to them. Thanks for sharing 😊

Hi SquishySwart

Wow what an interesting story! Sarel does sound harmless enough and does sound like he gets a little bit bored at times and gets up to a bit of mischief like unpacking your groceries.

Children are sometimes quite sensitive at young ages and your daughter very well may be communicating with him. She may grow out of this as she gets older but I think it is good that Sarel listened to you when you told him to leave your daughter alone at night to sleep. This shows to me that he is harmless enough and may just want a little company.

Thanks for sharing such a fascinating story, I really enjoyed reading this. 😊

Granny I have to say I love a good workplace ghostie story! 😆. I hate when they move stuff around that you need like the small knife. I can see this ghostie peering out from inside the walk in oven having a good chuckle at your annoyance having to use the awkward big knife on the dough then waiting until you have finished to put it back in an obvious place! 😉.
I worked in a department store in an office with a resident ghostie that would swing a big heavy metal walk in safe door shut while I was in it lol. I cracked it and told him to quit it one day and he never did it again after I blasted him! 😆
Oh Fergie, I have read this over 3 times and I have tears pouring down my face. I'm so sorry for the loss of your beautiful daughter, and such a beautiful name - Angel.

I think Angel knew it was her time to go and her daughter knew too. I think also the shadow that passed over her was very likely your Dad ready to take Angel on her new journey to the beyond. I find great peace in this just knowing that your loved ones will be with you when you cross over and I'm glad your Dad could be there with her.

I feel she will always be with you and your family and how wonderful that she was with your husband on his Birthday and let him know.

I think the interpretation of the dream you had was spot on. As sad it is, you were indeed together until the end and that is all that matters ❤

Thanks for sharing such a personal story Fergie. I'm going to put this in my favourites ❤

Hi realdeal

I don't think this entity is malevolent in any way. It just seems to be someone trying to get your attention or just to let you know it is there.

As Isandhu has mentioned it could very well be the previous occupants or even your step father. The soft stroking of the hair, the feeling of someone sitting on your bed (although scary as it seems) seem to be caring gestures and nothing evil or demonic.
Hi tweety5

I can imagine how terrified you must have been at the time being presented with something so scary.

Medusa would be my first reaction also after seeing her hair sticking up in strange ways, especially since you had no idea that this was how ringlets were made on girls hair once upon a time.

Fergie and Miracles, I love the theory that the little sister was there to escort her big sister home. Beautifully said and it makes sense to me if her time on earth was only to be for a short while after the visitation.

Thanks for sharing, I'm going to add this to my favourites 😊

Dan I thought of your story straight away when I read this! Something very freaky about disembodied limbs beckoning people. Gives me the creeps thinking about it! 😨 😊

I really loved this story! It's amazing that Chrales looks over you and your family and keeps you safe. The incident with the truck just shows he is always with you.

Thanks for sharing 😊 ❤
"It was like a wedding dress. Or a nightgown. Maybe a combination of both". Who the heck wears a nightgown like wedding dress?

You see her every once in a while but she is always hidden? Umm well can you see her or not?

So from a floating white wedding dress nightgown you know she had a family that was murdered by the father? You state this like it happens all the time. Umm ok then...

I could go on and on. This story has more holes than swiss cheese, a golf course and a pair if my grandpa's favourite old socks put together...
Very creepy story, I had a shiver going down my spine reading this!

Jav has made an interesting comment about weird houses. I think some houses (much like people at times) give off weird creepy vibes. You just know that something is off and you just don't want to go near the place.

Every neighbourhood has one. You know the one that people cross to the opposite side of the street so they don't have to walk by? The one that you look at and instantly get that overwhelming sense of apprehension about?

Thanks for sharing these creepy tales. I have really enjoyed your stories. I would love to hear more if you have any. 😊
Fantastic story and great writing style!

I also thought it was ironic that your great grandfather used to make ghost noises at you when you were younger then showed himself to you as a ghost in later years!

As scary as it was, I bet you were glad that your husband saw the same thing too!

Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed this

😊
Hi Sceptic-Ari

I really enjoyed your story and very nicely told. I think some people find it hard to accept he notion that there could be more to life than what we can see touch and feel. Maybe your grandfather was so set in his ways because he had never experienced anything like this before that he couldn't bring himself to admit that he did see something out of the ordinary.

Thanks for sharing this enjoyable story! 😊
