House Wight? on 2014-07-21

I live in an enormous old farmhouse in West Central Indiana. The house is surrounded by 2000 acres of grain fields, interspersed with old family cemeteries. I outlined it with more detail in my story 'Not So Quiet Neighbors'. Someone asked in the comments of that story if the activity could have ...

Not So Quiet Neighbors on 2013-09-02

Last fall I moved from Lafayette, IN to a small house out in the middle of nowhere. I'm in the middle of about 2,000 acres of fields. My closest neighbor is a quarter mile away. The closest neighbor to the south is half a mile away. Well, that's not entirely true. My "real" closest neighbors are...

Can I Use Your Computer? on 2013-01-14

Years ago I rented a small studio apartment in Crawfordsville, Indiana. The building went back to 1900 and had served a number of purposes before being made into apartments. In the laundry room in the basement you could still see where an indoor pool had been filled in with concrete. Essentially,...

Haunted House For Sale on 2013-01-14

In 2010, I purchased my first house. It was a small two bedroom home built in the fifties in Lafayette, Indiana. The bones of the house were good but it had been trashed by the previous owners. There was enough cat hair on the carpet to knit a Siberian tiger, all of the light fixtures had been taken...

Shadow Kangaroo on 2012-05-15

I live in Indiana, way back in the farmland. Several years ago I was working as a waitress in a nearby town. I was coming home from work after a late shift - it was probably 11:30 at night. I was taking the back roads because it was a holiday weekend and I didn't want to get hit by a drunk driver. I...

Haunted Kennel on 2012-02-14

Between the years 2003-2005, I worked in a boarding/grooming kennel in Crownsville, MD. It consisted of two buildings, the grooming shop and the actual kennel. The grooming shop was surrounded by the parking area and the kennel was behind the parking area. The kennel, the dog runs and the play ya...

I'm only half-joking when I ask: Are you *sure* it wasn't fairies skiing? 😜

Bloody hell! I've been to Cozumel and had an experience with the Mayan Goddess Ixchel there! (Probably something to do with bleeding all over her temple ruins) I can say the gods are still around and still very active!

[at] BadJuuJuu I'm hesitant to leave things on the floor, as I have dogs who will/do immediately eat anything at their level.

[at] Nectavore That's interesting that you've seen them in Australia! I guess it's the energy being picked up?

[at] Swimsinfire This is the first time I've ever seen one, but I didn't find it threatening in any way.

[at] KissodDawnHuddy Ah, no. That wasn't it at all.
I think John sounds like a nice guy. You said it feels like finding out your best friend is a serial
Killer. Why do you believe this friend of yours that claims he's evil? If he's never done anything bad or made you feel bad, why do you think he's bad now?

I find it telling that you said your friend is Christian. I know they aren't all like this, but I've met my fair share of Christians who exist only in black and white. If John isn't an angel, then he must be a demon. People are good or evil. There is no such thing as neutrality or duality and Gods' forbid he's something outside their realm of experience.

Again, I know not all Christians are like that, but a certain level of scepticism is healthy.

Riding your horse across the lone prairie with your loyal hound at your side? Sounds like Heaven to me.

LOL, yeah, I know.

[at] RedWolf

No, I haven't asked the neighbors about it; I didn't want to come off as crazy. =p Well, I suppose the noise could have bee coming from the window itself, but I'd expect something like that to come with other activity and the house has been totally quiet.

[at] elfstone810

I don't know how old the neighbor's house is. Mine was built in 1937.

Hey, who wouldn't want to have a never ending party? Screw all that haunting nonsense; let's rock out!

[at] Miracles51031

Actually, I said I moved into the house last fall. This actually happened in July.

[at] Valkricry

The type of music sounded like generic rock. Like I said I wasn't paying too close attention at the time, but it sounded like the sort of stuff you'd play at a block party.

[at] ChrisB

Hey, I didn't say they had to stop! XD

[at] vulcan10

If you actually read the story, you'd know I couldn't hear what they were saying - just background voices. The music for a time reference doesn't help either, it just sounded like generic rock. Like I said, until I stepped out of the back door, I had no idea it was anything out of the ordinary.
Aww, that sounds sweet! I like to hear stories that aren't just the same old 'scary, freaked out' experiences. Well, your friend was freaked out, but Br. Thomas took the time to calm him down.

Well, the ghost hasn't ever bothered me again after I cussed it out; the only reason I know it's still there is because of the one scared dog. Bear doesn't even bark at the room anymore.

I moved out because I found a much bigger house out in the country in my price range.

The house is for sale in Lafayette Indiana. It isn't listed yet because I'm fixing some scratched paint and stuff.

Here's the photo of the light smudge. It really doesn't look like much.

First picture:

Second picture:

It never effected anything electric-wise. TV and lights were always fine.

[at] m15sterp1nk: LOL! That's one of those things you're afraid to google in case you find it!

[at] Casper: Yeah, I was reminded of it by another story, said it in the comments, then thought: Hey, I should submit that story...

Xiao, when I first moved into the apartment the ghost would knock things off of my shelves and move things around inside the closet. One night I stayed up late to watch a movie then the fire alarm went off downstairs (common occurrence). We went outside and waited for the fire department to clear the building. By the time I got back into bed I was very tired. I laid down, then heard the distinct sound of a bottle falling off of the bathroom shelf, bouncing off of the sink and clattering to the floor. I sat up and said "I know you're here and I don't care! Just let me sleep!" in the morning there was no bottle on the floor and nothing ever fell off of a shelf for the rest of the time I lived there. Once I acknowledged the ghost he started using my computer. Sometimes I'd feel him walking down the hall, too.

Sounds like you have loads of activity! I had an experience with an Internet-savvy ghost. I lived a short while (six months) in a haunted apartment building. The ghost had committed suicide in a first floor apartment but roamed the whole building. I was used to leaving my computer on during the day and just let it go into sleep mode. I had it set to log into messenger when it 'woke up'. It wasn't easy to get out of sleep mode; usually it required you to bang the mouse on the pad and press the space bar multiple times. Like your friend, my contacts would see me log on in the middle of the day when I was at work. They never recieved an answer when they would try to chat with me, though.

One day I came home early and felt someone rush past me into the hall when I opened the door. When I came into the room, I saw the computer was awake.

Well, shellzy, like I said, there are exotic animal farms in the area so I would have been startled to see an actual kangaroo running around, but I still would have believed that first.

Louslips, your friend was right to shoot; emu can be dangerous. I don't know what one was doing in NY. Did you hear about that shark they found in the woods in Maine? Weird stuff going on...

I have seen something like what you're describing only in Indiana. It was the perfect outline of a kangaroo crossing the road only there were no details. It was just a black shape.

And before anyone says 'hey a kangaroo at night would look like a black shape' this one was in my headlights. If there were details to be had, I should have seen them.

I don't think I've ever heard of a camping trailer being haunted. Very cool. You learn a lot from perusing this site.

Ghostly animals seem like the most benign type of haunting you could have. It would be another pet you didn't have to feed. ^^

How awful! It sounds like the home for wayward girls would be a likely culprit if there was any way you could check that.
What kind of a horrible aunt gives thier nephew/niece a cursed toy?!
