Her Bloody Handprint on 2016-12-28

This happened in 2007. My friend (I'll be calling her Maya) and I were going to Maya's village for some religious ceremony (this story is from India, so I would like to clear up a few things for the international readers: in India, almost everyone has their roots in some sort of village which they v...

Warned By The Dead on 2016-12-28

This happened two years ago. My mom and I were at my grandma's house for the summer. Every time I went there I visited a friend I had made over the past few times I had been there. On the 15th of April, my mom and grams were planning on relaxing. I (as usual) was going to my friend's house. To reach...

I Can Hear You Breathing on 2014-09-24

I never went to my Aunt Helen's attic after that day. It was the first week of December. My parents and I had come to visit my Aunt Helen for Christmas. She lived in Salvation,Iowa. Aunt Helen was divorced, and lived with her three children (one son and two daughters), Mike, Judy and Linda. I was...

The British Princess on 2013-02-06

This happened when I was in sixth grade. My classroom had an another room attached to it (My school was a British king's place where [according to legend]his wife and daughter used to live). We weren't allowed to go inside but me and my friends always took a peek through the glass doors. It looked l...

Dear AugustaM,

Thank you so much for reading! And thank you for your comment! I've heard about stories about phantom blood and stuff too which even leads me to believe that the print could have a supernatural source.

Dear lady-glow and AFieryCupcake,

I am not trying to defend the actions of the villagers at all, in fact, it really disgusts me. However after 90 years it is obvious that people would not be the same (now times have changed and people are more educated!) and judging their children or grandchildren for what happened is kind of wrong too. What happened to me a whole 90 years after what they did scares me and the fact that I witnessed it makes it even worse (in comparison to a 90 year old story).

As for your question about the blood, I'm sure that the print was actually covered in blood, but whether it was human or not, I can't say (after seeing blood, I didn't really stick around to test it or anything 😆). The fact that it was blood was scary enough for me as a child.

Thank you again for asking!

Dear Bliss006

Actually while writing the story I was trying to come up with a fictional name for my friend, and I initially chose Savannah and later changed it to Maya. I must've missed this one and forgot to change it. (Sorry!)
Thank you so much for pointing this out so that I could clarify it.

Dear Sceptic-Ari

I apologise for the late reply... I understand your confusion, but as I have mentioned earlier I used the name Jenkins in order to conceal the woman's identity. The story does take place in India, and I'm sorry for not having mentioned the Jenkins thing in the story itself.

Thank you for asking!

Randy,

The stories that we were told about what happens during the "Black Magic month" did lead us to believe that things could be moved or damaged by this entity. However, it could very well have been a prank.
Yes the door did have prints on it and they were covered in real blood. If that was a prank, someone would have to be really sick to actally do that.
Thanks for reading. ❤

Dear lady-glow,

Thank you for reading. And to answer your question, I don't mean that there haven't been any incidents since 2007, but only during that particular year. I have mentioned in the first paragraph that this ceremony was held every year to "lessen the evil". I haven't been to or asked about this place since that incident so I cannot be sure if the ceremony had permanent effect, but I doubt it.

Also,I completely agree with you on the point of the villagers burning that woman alive without proper insight into the deaths. It is certainly a very horrific thing to do to someone, especially without actually proving their guilt.

Thank you for your question ❤. I hope I have clarified your query.

Dear Randy,

Thank you for reading. As for your questions, I did tell my Grams where I was going but she didn't tell me about Mrs. Jenkins. I believe that maybe they didn't want me to know about the cremation and had assumed that it would start after I had left and they could go there when I was at my friend's house and could tell me after the cremation was over. (but I really do not know, its just a theory)

In India, it is common for family, relatives and close friends to attend a cremation, however, some families may have different wishes for the cremation/burial of their dead.
Also Mrs. Jenkins was my grandmother's next door neighbour and they knew each other well so its likely that she would go to the cremation and not just to pay her respects to the family at the house. And since we were there visiting it was kind of customary for mom to attend as well.

As for your question on why she was cremated so early, now that I think about it, even I am stumped. I'm not sure what time period people wait before a cremation, but the very next day seems odd to me as well. I don't know why they did that, maybe it was the family's wish or something? But I have no idea.

Thank for your queries and letting me clarify them.

Dear Mayhem and RCRuskin,

Thank you for your comments and for being understanding. I would like to clarify for all my readers that I am from India but since I am a keen traveller some of my stories are and will be from other countries as well. And even though I haven't been very active on here for quite some time, I am back now (really me, no imposter! 😆) and I have many more stories to share. Thank you for reading.

Dear lady-glow,

I used the name Jenkins in order to conceal the woman's original identity. (I guess I should've been more specific about that...sorry!)

Having said that I would also like to point out that since India is a diverse country with all sorts of religions, ethnicities and languages, names such as Jenkins are common here.

Also, I would like to point out that only one of my experiences i.e. I Can Hear You Breathing is from the US from the time I was visiting my aunt's house. Most of my stories are from India as I live here but some are from different countries beacuse I travel a lot.

I would really like to thank you for pointing these errors out to me so that I can clarify them for my readers. Thanks!❤

[at] hazeleyes I specifically wrote,"I let go of the boy and took my blindfold off." I stood in a position that would ensure that he couldn't escape. I was blocking his path but I couldn't hold him and take the blindfold off at the same time now could I?

elnoraemily The house is 80 years old. Before that the land was owned by a family next door. They had a small store room and a tree house on that property. It was all removed when the house was built.

To answer your question notjustme and BadJuuJuu, Aunt Helen's attic has a small staircase with a few steps and as I remember it the staircase was clear (without any boxes and stuff) so I didn't have many difficulties climbing up. And of course that doesn't mean I didn't trip or anything but it wasn't difficult enough to mention in the story. Plus we had played Hide and Whistle lots of times before so I was used to climbing up and down stairs and stuff.

Elnoraemily,as I thought I'd caught Mike already, I just went to what I thought what his hiding place to catch him. I didn't whistle or anything else after that. I guess my cousins waited for me to whistle or come down but when I never did I they came to look for me together.

Khili180 and notjustme to answer your question the boy didn't feel cold or anything. He felt normal. What was creepy about him was how skinny he was. I could feel his bones. He felt like skin on bones. And his breath was hot and wet, and it was so close to me.
Date: 2014-09-23
Well I'm looking forward to it. I have a question though, does this boy ever try to hurt you or show that it can hurt you?

Hey Jager, good story. I think that the spirit in the house was the spirit of a child who wanted to play with you. Because I've heard about children who died young and were not able to enjoy their childhood and so their spirit searches for children to play with. I'd love to get more stories from you.

Dear Wendya2003,

Thanks for sharing your story. I have heard of La Llorona as well but I've heard of the version of the weeping woman who found out that her husband was unfaithful to her and so became a victim of temporary insanity and murdered her children and after realizing what she'd done took her own life. And now her spirit wanders roads and highways looking for another unfaithful man and if she finds one she kills him. But clearly that version does not apply to you. So I think that you should definitely do the cleanse and also if possible, dig some info about your house. Because sometimes there are some places which have witnessed some tragedy. It is possible that the woman you keep seeing was a previous resident who lived a tragic life. If you dig up something new please let me know.

Great story Know Seek! If you want to know who the apparition was or even if it was an apparition or a trash can, you could ask your neighbours or your family members about this man you saw.

Good story sweatseveryday! I enjoyed it a lot. Maybe this woman was some one who didn't die here but lived in agony. Sometimes spirits are attached to something that they really cared about or hated or shared an agony with. If you find out anything more about this woman please post it.

Dear Sceptic-ari,

I already have mentioned that only the Wife and Daughter used to live there and that was not permanent either. They went to England, sometimes even with the Viceroy. It was more like a summer cottage (but way bigger). And just in a matter-of-fact manner, there are more than three buildings in or outside Shimla. And as I already mentioned my school was many things before it became our school so it has many histories.

Dear Sceptic-Ari,
The lady who told us the history of our school told us the history in Hindi so she said 'Raja' as she did not have a word for 'Viceroys'and as she had told me I wrote,'king'. Then after the comments I got on my story I asked her the name of the 'KING' she told me about and I figured that she meant 'viceroy' not 'king'.And as per my parents rules I am not allowed to say anything in detail about the viceroy or my school as it may affect the school's reputation. Any ways, I have many more stories to share.

Regards, Austria 😁 😁 😁
