I'm interested in Illinois haunts. I've lived in the Quad City area, the City of Chicago (miss it) and currently reside in the western suburbs. If anyone out there has stories that occured in those places, I'd enjoy hearing them. I believe my childhood home was haunted. It has been torn down... But I would still like to know the history of the land. Other than that I have normal interests. I enjoy reading, Making a mean cup of coffee, modern dance, good friends and a cold miller high life. OH and I'm engaged now... Planning a wedding is pretty scary itself
ALSO: For the LOVE OF GOD, USE SPELL CHECK when submitting a story. Hell, type your story in a word document. Then copy and paste. I can't tell you how annoying it is to read some of these stories due to poor grammar and spelling. When you spell things wrong or don't write a cohesive story, it makes it 1. Hard to read 2. Hard to take seriously.
SAME GOES FOR POSTERS: Don't try to be cute and spell "you"-"u" or "be"-"b" or "Scary"-"Scarii". You look uneducated. Spelling and grammar is a good thing to keep on top of. It hurts my eyes to read things like "iff" and half spelled "his".
I also don't buy the excuse "I'm not good at typing/spelling". It is called spell check. I believe some computers offer a "grammar check" if you will. Seriously... It is very annoying.
BTW: learn the difference between the word "Spirit" and "Sprite".
Beleave is spelled B-E-L-I-E-V-E.
Ecplinacion is spelled E-X-P-L-A-N-A-T-I-O-N
Ecorsim is spelled E-X-O-R-C-I-S-M
Sorruy is spelled S-O-R-R-Y
Courd is spelled C-O-U-L-D
Asx is spelled A-S-K
Maby is spelled M-A-Y-B-E

Ghost In The Machine on 2009-09-28
A few interesting things have been occurring in my home the past month or so. If you are not familiar with my home, I suggest reading my two previous accounts. Victorian Flat Two and Victorian Flat Three. With that said: In August I noticed some strange things happening here. Currently my fiancé ...
The Ambassador East Hotel on 2009-05-26
In honor of my friend's 25th birthday, I thought I'd share a quick story. My friend Sean and I are originally from Chicago. However I currently live in the suburbs and he in New York. About every 2 months he comes home for a long weekend. Normally he'll rent a hotel room in the city for a Saturda...
Easter Visit on 2009-03-18
I think this will be one of my last stories on here. Things on this site don't seem the same. Maybe I need a break for a while. Plus I miss some old posters that I don't see anymore. With that said, this isn't a gloom and doom scary story. It is not grand. I didn't play with an Ouija board or see...
The Stone Cold Kid on 2009-01-26
I've shared my experiences that occurred in my childhood home in Lisle, IL. Ghost Farmer and Ghost Farmer two. Yet, after all these years there has been an incident that has stuck with me more than the 'farmer" or anything else. It may not be paranormal, but just recalling it makes me wonder. Som...
Victorian Flat 3 on 2008-12-17
I had something interesting happen here over the weekend. As posted in "Victorian Flat Two" I have moved to a new apartment. If you haven't read it, I suggest you do so. It gives background on where I live and what has happened so far. My parents have a cat named Phillip. He actually is "mine" bu...
Victorian Flat 2 on 2008-12-08
Some background info: My fiancée and I have moved out of a complex and now into an old Victorian home. In a previous post I wrote about seeing a "boy in a cape". The last few weeks of living there I didn't see him. With the stress of moving and the rental company being jerks, I didn't see him or I ...
We Were Here on 2008-10-15
This is a story my father told me while looking though old family photos a few weekends ago. It may or may not have relevance to this site, but I thought I would share. A little background: My father comes from a family you can count on your two hands. My grandparents, My father, My aunt, My grea...
Boy In A Cape on 2008-09-17
I have this weird thing going on along with the "pokes" at night. For about two weeks now, I feel or see something in our apartment hallway. It doesn't matter if my fiancée is home or not, I see this figure standing at the end of the hallway by our bedroom entrance. The figure is white or light i...
Pokes In The Night on 2008-09-08
I just wanted to know if anyone else has had something like this happen: I have felt a "poke" on my shoulder at night, in bed. I share a one-bedroom apartment with my fiance'. It has happened about 5 times so far. Not in a row however. I'm awake when this happens. The latest was last night. I got...
Ghost Farmer 2 on 2008-08-25
I have posted before about the "farmer" I often saw in my backyard. I just thought I'd mention a few more things that took place while growing up. 1. Most fathers have their "favorite chair." My dad was no exception. It was this old chair from the 70's. It rocked back and forth. It also swiveled....
Ghost Farmer on 2008-05-27
I grew up in Lisle, IL. It is a smaller suburb compared to Naperville and other surrounding burbs. In the 30s it was a farming community. My grandparents, like most of the growing community members, had a house built during the 50s. My parents and I moved in with them around 1984, when I was an infa...
First of all a medal should go to you for driving out to University or Illinois.
Especially alone. DEAR GOD that is a brutal treck. I had friends that went to college out there and visited once. THAT was it. I couldn't imagine going out there more than once. UGH
Anyway: I don't have much experience with orbs... But it does sound like quite the noodle scratcher. You don't think it was your eyes playing with you? I mean... That is quite the drive.
As far as something reaching up for your leg...whew...creepy.
Thanks for sharing.
Sidenote: the site won't let me type what the University's nickname is (UofI)...but a crap ton of posters on here can get by with slaughtering the english language
I wonder what kind of history the building/land had. Was it a complex? Converted home or "free standing" building.
I too once lived in a apartment that "just didn't feel right". I always felt like someone was watching me... Thankfully I moved.
Anyway: I'm sorry about your husband's drinking. Hopefully that has subsided. I've heard where spirits can "turn" loved ones againist each other. It sounds like there was some negative energy there. If you were in a "rougher" neighborhood I wouldn't be surprised if there was a lot of negative energy/history. Did you ever talk to neighbors about what you experienced?
If you don't mind me asking, what prompted this seance? Had you and your friend discussed it before? Or just randomly decided to try to contact Martin Heidegger?
And I guess out of curiosity: why him? No offense or anything. His philosophy has been analyzed by Foucault (whom I find interesting) but his participation in the the Nazi party is a little frown worthy.
To save time explaining how to go about it:

WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS SITE? Seriously? Is anyone ANYONE on here courteous? Or Respectful? Or mature?
There is no need to laugh at someone's story (no matter if you believe it or not). If you want to maturely point out someone's "flaws" or "holes" in their story... There is a constructive/respectful way.
Also stories on here DON'T have to be "creepy" or all "gloom and doom demons and blood dripping from the wall". This site isn't a pissing contest to see who has the most horror like tale.
FINALLY: I'm so tired of the "know-it-all" attitude lately. Its one thing if you want to help or offer advice (especially if you've had a similar experience to a poster). But this whole "I know things". "I've seen things". "I should be a deemed king of the demons" is annoying.
First off: is this porch shared between you and the vacant apartment?
Second: researching the building. I found this link to be helpful
Http://www.wikihow.com/Research-the-History-of-Your-House
You might need to find out if the store had a different name/owner at one time
Thirdly: just wondering, could it be someone coming into the business you live above after hours? Just a thought
Keep us posted
The place is still standing right?
I know what you mean by "walking around a cemetery". You're not hanging out (I'm sorry when I see that phrase I think of teenagers walking around a mall). Cemeteries can be peaceful and a place of reflection (especially if you have family/loved ones there). As long as someone is just sitting... Being respectful... Or walking and being respectful... I don't have a problem with that.
Once again thanks for the story.
Perhaps I googled it wrong. Simply trying to help and do a little research of my own.
Very interesting account. I googled the legend of a headless woman you mentioned. In some of the accounts I've read it reminds me of Resurrection Mary.
Is the cottage/house still standing?
And you're right about dreams. People should pay attention to them... You never know who or what will come to you and brighten your day
I found this link: http://www.freewebs.com/hauntedroad/
From the way I'm reading it an entire ESTATE sat on Moorestown...I'm sorry I'm not familiar with New Jersey
Did you ever mention the things you saw to co-workers?
Well not to sound like a broken record, but you could research the rental. Is a converted home? Free standing? Complex?
That would take some work on your part... Finding out who lived there... What once was there. But it sounds like you have your hands full with moving and settling into a new home.
I guess take comfort you're not living there anymore and just patch over the H
The toy box sound very well crafted, do you still have it?
*"instead of people trying to be dis-respectful and adding fuel to the fire." -
I meant trying to be respectful and not adding fuel to the fire. Sorry...I'm a little scatter brained at the moment
Boo2you: I don't know how long you have been a member. But, I can tell you a lot of the "older" posters don't seem to be on here anymore. Lately there have been some ridiculous stories/posters. It sorta goes in cycles like that. My best suggestion, if you don't care for bldfalcon's story...don't post ANYTHING. It isn't worth it. Know what I mean? I don't know about you (Yet I think you might feel this way too), but I hate logging on and seeing an internet argument instead of people trying to be dis-respectful and adding fuel to the fire.
To bldfalcon: please don't take offense to my comment to boo. I would have sent them a private message, but no email is listed.
I'm just trying to defuse what could turn into an annoying situation for EVERYONE
Cheers

"ghostly figure with mouse like head"-That gave me some fanfiction.net website. With a fictional story that mentions a ghost figure with a mouse head (the author is from the UK)
"ghostly animal like figures"-nothing really
"ghost like mouse man figure"-nothing.
Whatever you saw that morning, I don't think it was a demon. Often when I have got up in the morning, it takes a minute for me to gather my bearings. I still have "sleep" in my eyes and I'm not totally focused. After about a minute or two... Then I'm up... Just as you were that day. There are days that I see something out of the corner of my eye... But I chalk it up to not being quite awake yet.
You have NEVER seen a photo of your grandfather? Really? Do you think its your grandfather "sitting on you" at night?
