The Shrieky Voice on 2013-04-17

This is a story that was told to me by my father when I was about 5 years old. I still remember it probably because of it's eerie context and the imagination I perceived at that age which I can still picture effulgently. In Pakistan, it's almost like a tradition for older people to pass down horror ...

Ghungroos, huh? That's a classic trait of a Churail or Daayan, lol. 😨

I found the part about the lady in the white dress in the graveyard pretty ardent. Many similar stories like this come out of Pakistan. Maybe it's a sign or an omen of some sorts?

Wow, I have a similar story myself! I went to my dads uncles house and was told a story about how one of his sons had an encounter with a "churail" dressed in a bridal suit. He was driving home at night and saw what appeared to be a young woman dressed in a bridal suit on the side of the road. He knew this was no human, it was a witch. He kept going, but suddenly when he took a glance at the rear view mirror, he saw her sitting in the back seat with a wide grin. Next thing you know he blinked and she disappeared. He started reading a verse from the Quran and drove as fast as he could.

Hey, finally posted a story huh? Cool!:) lol, anyways, I think that presence you felt is the spirit of a child. The doll can be a big clue.

Great story, Meghna! There is actually a school back in Pakistan, where I'm from, and they say that it was built on an old cemetery. The faculty and the students say they've experienced paranormal things like coming to class in the morning and finding all the desks and chairs upside down, when they weren't like that in the first place. I've gotten a case of Taphophilia recently, and when to explore a huge cemetery, about 5 blocks, where I live. The disappointing thing is that it was closed, it closes so early, at 3:30 PM. I felt like jumping the fence, lol, but the cemetery was under surveillance. The graves there are as old as the 1800's! I shall go some other time. Silly thing, when I was a little kid and passed by that cemetery, I would hold my breath so I wouldn't inhale any souls, which is also an Old Wive's Tale, lol. 😁

Amie_16, No, I currently live in America. But yeah, I still have family back in Pak. I'm from a Jatt family. Nice to meet you too, Aminah. You have a nice name.:)
By the way, does anybody know when the submissions page will reopen?
Did you ever try going back to that road? Poor and homeless, so sad.

Merlyn9394, thanks for the clarification. But, I said it like they would say it in a punjabi accent, lol.:P:D

Man, Aghoris are crazy. I was just watching a short documentary on them yesterday. They are cannibals. They rub cremation ashes on them and drink from human skulls, they're followers of Shiva. Kind of interesting and morbid at the same time, lol.

Hey, cool story! Have you ever heard about the legend of La Llorona? A friend of mine actually told me an experience of her and The Weeping Woman. She said she heard a lamenting cry from afar. The place in Mexico where she's from, La Llorona tales are common.

Scarlettsnowe, Thanks! I love The Doors, Lizard King forever!:D I'm a HUGE fan. Actually, this isn't way off topic. Jim Morrison was said to have been possessed by the dead Indians he witnessed die in a car crash when he was about 4 years old, thus the whole Shaman thing. ❤

Amie_16, the village is Ferozwala, in Gujranwala. We don't live there anymore. We still have some relatives that live there. However, we do go and visit when we go back for vacation everytime.:)

[at] CodyMist, I'm pretty sure they were alone. Like I said before, no human can run faster than a horse, and that recondite voice was traveling along with the horses speed. My father told me the voice sounded like an old day. You're probably right, it could've been a wandering spirit from a calamity which struck that path.

There are many other stories which some of my family members have told me. I shall post them too. He actually showed me that path when we went back for vacation, and it did look scary, lol. Many old and big trees, the path covered in their shadows. They say that "Churails" (name for a Witch in my language) live in them. 😨

Maybe it was The Dark Knight, lol. Interesting story though. 😊
Hey, interesting story, I liked it. I'm from Pakistan too. I'm from Sheikhupura. Something similar happened in my aunts house. The house in which they live in used to belong to a bunch of Sikh people, before the partition. Her Mother-in-law used to have these dreams of some man and she would also see him around the house, he'd scare her. The man seemed to be affiliated with the house. So, every year they have this festival called "Pandara" in regards to him. Ever since they've been having that festival, the man doesn't seem to come in her dreams nor bother her anymore. But, this one time when they stopped having the festival, he returned. In the festival they give out food to the poor people and other "sadkas."
