The Summer I Didn't Sleep on 2017-08-22

I can't recall how old I was when these events took place, but judging by what bedroom of our house I was sleeping in at that point, I must have been somewhere between 9 and 12. I have wanted to share this story for quite some time but the truth is that I haven't been able to build up the courage to...

The Upstairs Bedroom on 2017-05-16

The house I grew up in had some activity and I have shared some other stories, I feel like the activity would intensify at times and other times almost completely go away. One of those times where it intensified was when I was about 14 or 15, the last year I lived there before I moved away from home...

A Family Cabin on 2016-11-24

The land I grew up on has a lot of history, and I mean a lot. Findings have been made in the area all the way back from around iron age, although no proper excavation have been made due to how far north it is (much of the land was covered in ice during the ice age making archeologist more likely to ...

The Kumon Thong on 2016-07-25

I still haven't shared all of my personal experiences yet, although I do intend to. This is both due to still building up the courage to think back at some of them, and just simply find the inspiration required to put them in print. So the story I will share now is actually from my fiancΓ© (let's...

Full Body Apparition on 2016-02-03

This is a story from my childhood that takes place when I was no older than 5. I know this because at this time one of my sisters and I were still sharing bedrooms. This room was the biggest one in the house. Earlier the house was separated to two apartments, one on each floor, and this room formerl...

Bangkok Haunting on 2016-01-05

I will tell you about a few peculiar things that happened to me about a year ago. Me and my friend Maria decided to move in together as both of our earlier leases were just about to expire and we spend pretty much every waken hour together either way. We went house hunting and finally found an a...

Not Only Folklore? on 2015-05-21

I grew up on a farm in a very urban area, basically in the deep forests of northern Sweden. I've always been very close to nature and spiritualism, even though I have lived in huge cities for years now and not really been in touch with Sweden or nature. I've had quite a lot of strange unexplaina...

Hi Lynx! I could have taken you to a ghostly hot spot in Thailand if I knew you were here haha 😜 I've never heard of putting amulets behind the back of a picture, but amulets are commonly used to ward of evil or bring luck etc, but I don't know why they would hide it, maybe they didn't want it to be seen for some reason. Maybe they were afraid someone would mess with it if seen. What was the picture of, maybe that's relevant? What sort of amulet was it? Our home is filled with them too, but not because of anything bad happened here but for luck and protection, (my husband is quite traditional Thai) we have a small altar with many amulets, on the front of our door, in our car, on necklaces etc. But now where did you find cheap wine in Thailand?! The tax on wine is outrageous!😜

Thank you so much for sharing this story, it was sweet and romantic (even if the date didn't work out after that experience).
Quite a few of the stories I've read recently (I like to go back and read old stories randomly or based on other members favourites) have been of encounters that might just as well have gone by unnoticed, and like Randym I wonder if we sometimes see spirits in crowds without noticing. It makes me want to take time to explore and take notice of my surroundings more, even when in very busy places.
Anyways, I also really liked your other stories and hope that you will share more with us.

Hi, thank you for sharing your experience I really enjoyed reading it. For me this sounded very much like sleep paralysis, I have had 3 in my life so far, years apart, but they all were quite similar to what you described, I was very aware of my surroundings when it occurred and I felt a similar feeling of something evil scanning me and pressing me down, after waking up in the middle of the night or early morning. Each time was terrifying but I do think it was caused by stress for me as they all happened during periods of a lot of stress and also exhaustion. The latest one being just a few months ago in the end of my pregnancy. That would not explain the shadow you saw though and I do not know if something paranormal could also have a part in some sleep paralysis cases. I'm glad it has only happened 3 times for me though, I have a friend who have had it almost every night all his life and have just had to learn to live with it. 😨
I really liked your story, thanks for sharing! Super creepy that it tilted it's head! I'm glad that your dad believed you. As a side note I used to love that meerkat show, could never stop watching it! Lol
Hope to hear more of your stories!
Hi, this sounds like a really scary experience I would freak out too! I was thinking first that it could have been someone with a mental problem or possibly on drugs? Would she have had time to run somewhere or hide between you looking at her and the houses? If she had some sort of drug problem I do think someone could do something like that and eyes can appear quite empty and freaky too. If there was no time or possibly for her to run or hide then maybe she was some sort of entity. Either way sounds scary to me! How was she dressed?

Although this made me think of a similar experience I had, with a girl asking me for cigarettes, I didn't smoke and told her so, a few blocks down the road she jumped me from behind and tried to rob me! Luckily I was stronger than her! Maybe it's good that you ran.

Hi tweed, I just now went back and read some of your stories that I had missed, I'm curious to know if you have any updates on this? I find it very interesting! Many old folks in my home are firm believers of these creatures they are known as tomte/tomtar in sweden, my grandmother always told me the farm she grew up on had them. You were supposed to leave a bit of milk from the cows for them and they will help you to look after then farm and animals 😊 and as you said in the comments it's the same as for santa, he is also called tomten in sweden and they are often depicted the same way, with a little hat and beard, only a lot smaller!

Maybe a good spirit just tried to scare and make a point by first carrying him towards the door and then marking a stop! Then it worked anyways! Thanks for sharing 😊
Me and my husband practice Buddhism so I still don't have a bibel, but amulets and prayers etc for the same reason. I'm just curious of why it would stop the same day I decided to try to do something about it, it was just gone after that
Hi, I'm not sure what it was but I'm sure it wasn't an earthquake it was happening every night for about 3 or 4 months, It also happened in Sweden were earthquakes isn't very common (I've experienced only 1).It never happened again since so I'm not sure what it was, but it still makes me scared to think about it. 😨

GraveArchitecture, I sometimes regret not picking up that call but to be honest I don't think I ever would have dared to. I think there was a connection to everything that was going on at the time, but I'm not sure what. I sort of feel like something wanted to scare me or at least wanted my attention.

Thanks for reading, I definitely did freak out, it was really scary and I always make sure to close wardrobe doors ever since!

That's interesting, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I also do believe that dreams and sleep have more to it than just resting the body. I have had a couple of other experiences like these while sleeping. Things such as that I am certain I had a dream about the office I am currently working in, but years before I ever worked there or was even living in the country.

Hi guys, as a sidenote, if you post the story from a phone (at least my android) it's not possible to see the full statement of what you are selecting regarding the comments. At least that was the case for me a couple of months back when I last posted. One of my stories says I need help with something even though I didn't really, because of this. However, I think that maybe we just should ignore some posts... 😳

Hi Lynx,
Creepy story! I believe that even if it's not any remains in the statue, there can still be something attached to it. They say dolls attract entities due to their human aspects so I'd think something similar could be the case for statues, especially if they have ment something for someone in the past, such as with statues in temples would. I have another story about a statue that I might share sometime!
About it being illegal in Thailand, yes but unfortunately that doesn't mean too much here 😒 money can buy you out of most things... Just recently a big "tiger temple" operation was taken down here, loads of body parts etc were found, huge black market for stuff like that and if the risks of getting caught are low, unfortunately people will keep doing things like that.

Alright I see, then at least it's not just me being slow! Hehe. I guess it would be easier if I visited the page more regularly. Thanks for letting me know guys! And thanks for the work you already do on this page, but consider this as a friendly development request ❀ 😊

Could mods or anyone tell me how the notifications work on this page? Been around for long but never seem to figure it out. How do I know if someone reply or adress a comment to me like Lynx did to Randym here? I'm not even realising when someone comment on my own posts, (I know you can check this part under your account but with no indicator I forget to do it) how do I know if someone replied to another post I replied to? And is there a notification when my favorite posters post something new? Am I missing something as I'm always using the page on a mobile device? Please enlighten me! 😁

Wow, It sounds like you had a very adventurous childhood! 😁

It's indeed very far from neighbours and really from anything. It used to take me an hour to go to school everyday as a child and was about a 30 minute drive to the nearest grocery store!

Unfortunately I don't know too much about the history of the land as my grandfather (who grew up there) passed before I was born and my grandmother was by then already divorced from him, so as you can imagine she didn't speak much of the history of the farm. The little I do know my mother has told me and there are also some old photos and painings etc along with a family bible (I'm not sure if this is also the name for this in english, but what I mean is a handwritten book with records of births and deaths in the family).

Fortunately my grandmother on the other side of my family have told me tons about the history and legends from the area where she grew up along with a lot of old folklore, so at least I have that 😊

It's too bad if people don't embrace the history, I'm glad you seem to have an interest for it! 😊

Thanks for reading 😊
I've also had the impression that Canada and Sweden have many similarities (if this is where you grew up and not only where you stay now). I've always wanted to go there but so far never had the chance to.

The region the cabin is located in is called VΓ€sternorrland.

bugbear808,
I'm also very glad she was able to buy the cabin back into family! I have many happy memories from the times I've spent there! (part from some sad and the scary memories) and I treasure all of them 😊
Thank you so much and blessings to you too!

Hi tweed,

I'm really glad you enjoyed my story and that you recognised my writing. I know what you mean, I get that a lot too when reading stories here! 😁

Yes, and I'm glad that we sensed it! I don't know what would have happened if we'd just gone inside.

Hi, as someone working in a media and 3d company with mainly realtors as customers I would like to add my thoughts to this. It's extremely rare that a realtor take and edit the photos of a house themselves. They are sells men, not editors and photographers. Usually they have a separate company or photograper doing this for them. The process in a company would be that someone takes the photo, someone else edit it and a thrid person quality check it. I would assume a freelancing photographer would also double quality check the photos before deliver to the broker. The broker would then also themselves quality check everything and add room names etc to the photos before letting the end customer see the work. So I really don't see how this could possibly end up at a house sellers end without anyone noticing.
