I am a 53 year old woman with an extremely open mind. I am very happily married and have 2 amazing children of my own and 4 step children with 7 grandchildren in total (6 step and only 1 of my own)

I love reading and have very diverse interests including all things paranormal and esoterical. I am a very strong believer of reincarnation and firmly believe that each person is placed on this earth both for a purpose and to learn.

I believe that angels do walk amongst us and that prayer absolutely does work.

I have no specific church affiliation although I was raised Catholic, but, I do have very strong religious beliefs.

I live by the motto "Who am I too judge?" So even though I don't always agree with certain things or actions, I will not judge.

I learnt that within every living being there is a jewel and it is up to me to discover it, and, that everyone deserves a second chance.

Confrontations on 2016-12-21

I have submitted my personal experiences with the paranormal but as my mom passed in 2008, I have decided to write about her experiences. My mom was born with "the sight" as some would say, and had numerous experiences throughout her life such as seeing and her deceased younger sister crying at h...

Was This Sleep Paralysis? on 2016-09-06

I stated in my previous stories that I had only had 3 distinct experiences. This one was not counted amongst them as I do not know what this was. I was 21 when my husband at the time and I had just moved into a new house in Arconpark, Vereeniging. About 2 weeks after we moved in my son was born. ...

Totally Confused on 2016-07-04

Those of you that have read my other stories will know that I have only had those experiences. Until very recently. This next experience is far beyond anything I have experienced to date. It was also very frightening. As I stated before, I do not scare easily. In fact, I have a lot of fun scaring...

My Protector on 2015-08-03

This is my fourth and final experience (to date) with the supernatural. I got divorced in 2006 and met my second husband and soul mate a few days before the divorce was finalized (We married in October 2008). In early 2008, my husband, J, told me of a house that we could rent but that the owner h...

New House, New Story on 2015-07-30

As I stated in my story Farewell from Grandpa ( I have four very clear experiences I will write about. This is the second encounter. The third was farewell from dad ( ...

Farewell From Dad on 2015-07-29

Just a bit of background. My dad was a wonderful person. While growing up my dad worked in construction so was away from home on many occasions but when home, he always made time for his children. Dad and I were very close and I was considered the "apple of his eye". My parents lived in Delmas an...

Farewell From Grandpa on 2015-07-22

I am new to the site. I have had four distinctly different experiences but the following story was the first. My ex-husband's grandfather lived in Melville, Johannesburg and in 1987 he became very ill. My mother-in-law decided to take him to live with them in Vereeniging (approx. 70km from Johann...

As far as I'm concerned, abusers should be given the death sentence. The pain and suffering they cause, lasts a lifetime and to me, it's worse than murder. Sorry, but that's how I feel.
A good counsellor can work wonders. Believe me when I say, "been there done that". My counsellor helped me turn my life around. Yes, as Maelstrom said, forgiveness is a big part of healing but what helped me was the realization of just how "sick" my abuser was. Sweetie, get help please. Your inner voice will never be still, unless you do. Blessings to you.
Maggie, I just read your story and could just not stop the tears. You are a true example of strength and courage to all. As far as your parents judgement of you... Well, you did what you needed to do and they will have to live with what they did to you. As the Bible says, "judge not least you be judged". I have nothing but the greatest respect for you because you put your son before yourself and your own heartache. Blessing to you.

Rook, can you help here?
Iceball3. This entity is dangerous, please get help. Maybe Rook or some of the other experts can help. I just find it strange that they haven't responded yet.

jeffinaustx. How utterly facinating yet deeply chilling. Have you ever done any investigating into the Hotel? I also don't scare easily, but I can tell you that if my duvet covered did that to me I would run, call me chicken if you must. Love your writing style.

I just recently read this and it's so weird because I've experienced the same thing. We moved into our house approx 2 and 1/2 years ago. Approximately a month ago we had this foul smell in certain areas of the kitchen. It smelled as if someone passed a really foul wind right beside you. Believe me, we search high and low and could find no explanation. The phenomenon only lasted about 2 weeks. Then one afternoon, I saw a white blur pass me into the corridor. I thought it was my dog and went looking only to find her outside. She cannot come in unless I let her in. But since then the smell is gone and we haven't experienced anything else. Sooo weird.

I just love your stories. Please keep writing, they are so vivid.
I am so sorry for your loss. I can only imagine the heartache and pain that you're going through. I have no advise but just wanted to express my sincere condolences. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I send you light, love and peace and a guiding hand to help you through this difficult time.

An experience like yours would permanently scare me off this site. I sincerely hope that this hasn't happened or won't happen again. Maybe Rook can help?

Sorry, I missed OCgirl. Yes, my brother remembered the occurrences well into adulthood. Unfortunately he passed away in 1989, but until his death, he would take off running as fast as he could when he was frightened in any way. He wouldn't even look back. Of course, the rest of the family would terrorise him to no end. I mean, who doesn't enjoy a good laugh at someone else's expense?

Hi everyone. I am sorry for only replying now but here I go.
RCRuskin, unfortunately I know nothing about my great grandfather other than this story and that he treated my mom as his own daughter.
Roylynx, I am not sure what my parents used. I personally use sage (smudging), salt and prayer.
Temilicious, thanks for your comment. I am from English and Afrikaans descent. My mother was Afrikaans so as far as I know this is definitely not part of the Afrikaner culture.
Bibliothecarius, thanks for clarifying but what I can't understand is that this could not have been sleep paralysis or Sleep Apnea as it only lasted for a month or two. The minute the cleansing was done, my mom slept peacefully with no interruptions or reoccurrences.
Thank you Randy. My "Husband" is now my ex-husband. As I stated this was many years ago and because of what was happening we got rid of the gun.

Hi Fergie.

Yes, the maid totally freaked out. In fact she stood up at 2am to water the plants in the hot house and then continued to do as grandpa requested until the day we moved. She was determined to follow his wishes so that she wouldn't get another visit from him.😊

Thank you all for your advice. Loneybone, I read the article but this seemed to be different. I honestly felt that I was in danger, serious danger. There was one other thing... As I lay praying I tried to recite the Lord's prayer and for the life of me I could not remember the words. It felt as if the shadows were clouding my mind. The more the bright light filtered through the more clearly I could cite the Lord's prayer.
Red, I definitely will do a shielding on the house. Thank you. The house is definitely not haunted. As I stated in my previous stories I can feel quite clearly if something is amiss and I know there is nothing there. This episode felt like a personal "attack" for want of a better word.
Miracles51031, I agree with your comments wholeheartedly.

Just a observation, There is a fabulous site that can help abuse victims. The forum is very similar in that people can share their abuse stories. If you do need help, please have a look on:
Sorry, I hope I am not doing anything unethical by sharing this site here.

Hi Jenniferever

I totally understand your fear/uncertainty but please remember this one thing... Suicide is a long term solution to a short term problem. It is NEVER but NEVER an answer. In fact, suicide only leaves destruction in its wake. Sorry, I don't mean to preach.

My perception, and I must say I am no expert, is that there is more to this, much more. And, even though you may not believe in the supernatural, I feel you should seek the help of an accredited psychic and/or regression therapist. I also feel that you should first rule out any physical causes by maybe seeing a neurologist if you haven't done so already. Smells and visions can be caused by brain dysfunction eg. Tumours or epilepsy.

Please don't give up. Everyone on this site is there to support and help.

Hi Fergie

I know I'm very late in commenting on this story but something caught my attention. Many years ago, my mom worked in a store that sold paint in Lewis Street in Vereeniging. While working there my mom met a man with a permanent handprint on his face. As far as I remember it was clearly visible but not dark. I don't know how it came about but he told her that it was a supernatural encounter that caused the print. Exactly what the details of the encounter was, I don't know. I was very young then and mom has since passed away so I can't ask her about the details. But I wonder... Could it be? Surely there couldn't be too many people with a story like this.
walterAkram. Because you haven't experienced anything doesn't mean there is nothing. Remember, if we DON't want to see something we won't. The things I experienced were not as a result of fear. I was puzzled by it but definitely not fearful. And, it was definitely not my imagination.
Waikaka, I really enjoyed your story. My mom had a very similar experience many years ago. The sounds were always behind her. One day she just started talking to the entity and when she slowly turned around there was a full bodied apparition. She saw him regularly afterwards but was never afraid and the entity finally moved on.
Hi adelaide143, Congratulations on the pregnancy. Wow, what a strange experience. Sorry I can't help, unfortunately I have never heard of anything similar. However, doppelganger is sometimes used to describe people who look very much alike. So, you weren't wrong in your assumption. I sincerely hope someone on this site can help you.
I've been waiting on eggshells for this story. As always, beautifully written and very interesting. Tweed hit the nail on the head, herd animals all react the same way. My personal view on the voice is that it is a guardian. Just wish all our guardians spoke so clearly...
Please don't stay away to long, your writing is addictive. 😉

Hi Tom, I have no idea what was scaring my son. He just would never talk about it.
