In the spring of 2009, we moved into an old heritage home that had been renovated into 5 seperate apartments. Thanks for your comments! I moved from the house in the summer of 2010, we ended up living in a second apartment in the same house (which is another lengthy story) that I will submit as soon as I have the time.

Brokentree; I did have him arrested when he almost broke my nose and blackened my eye... All he got was a few weekends in jail... Insane right? It took years for me to see the abuse for what it was, and I can tell you that I am stronger for it and refuse to take crap from any one now.

I know I am late to the party, but I really enjoyed your story. I have worked in a nursing home for over 6 years and have had the chance to take care of many, many people in the last stages of their lives.

It has been my experience though, that even if a person holds out for days or weeks to say goodbye to a special loved one, that they usually wait for that person to leave before passing on.

I think it's lovely that your mother made it so you didn't have to take the burden of watching her take her last breath alone.

I am sorry for your loss, and send best wishes to you and your family.
Hi Hawks eye, thanks so much for sharing your grandmothers stories.

I am sorry to hear about your grandmother, I have worked in a long term care facility for over 6 years and know how difficult dementia can be on a person and their loved ones.

I wish you and your family the best of luck!
