Have always been interested in ghosts and paranormal. What's out there? Where do we go when our lives are done. Technically we are energy. Energy cannot be created or destroyed. Most of the stories I tell you have only scared me AFTER I have time to think of them. Only one that I can think of scared me WHEN it happened. Some are just puzzling. I hope to get down some of my stories and see what others think could have happened, or WHAT happened.

The Voices I Hear on 2017-12-17

Recently, a comment from a story I wrote got me to thinking. Some people have said the experiences myself and my daughter had might be both of us, and that got me to thinking about an experience I have had ever since I have been a preteen. I think I was 11 or 12 when this started, and at night I hea...

Daughter's Imaginary Friends on 2017-09-02

It's taken me a long time to try to figure out how to start my experiences with my youngest daughter who I will call Jacey (not her real name). I have mentioned Jacey in one of my other stories about the house I grew up in when I was a teen, and I think she used to be able to see things. When these ...

The Kinder Classroom on 2017-07-12

I have had to spend some time thinking about how I wanted to begin the next chapter of ghost experiences in my life. This one occurred to me from out of nowhere and I decided that might mean it was time to share it. Once I was married and moved away from my parent's house, I hadn't really experi...

My Upstairs Room on 2017-02-07

I have had a little bit of a hard time writing about my upstairs experience. Some of this comes from the fact that one of my stories was stolen and posted on another website. However, I am discovering that it seems it is very common for that to happen from "our" website here. In the end, I decided I...

The Main Level on 2017-01-16

The main floor of my parent's house where I grew up at as a teen would be the place where I had an experience that scared me when it took place not later. I have said before that most things that have happened to me didn't scare me until I had time to process them. This would also be what prompted m...

What Was It About The Basement on 2017-01-09

What is it with basements? I have decided maybe the best way to tell all that happened to me in my parent's house when I was a teen, was to take the house level by level since I experienced something on every single level of that house. The first story I wrote talked about the voices I heard and my ...

The Basement on 2016-12-27

I was always interested in ghosts even as a kid. I am not sure why. I liked ghost stories, and loved to hear about other people's stories, and eventually had my own story. I have had quite a few as a teen/adult and I hope to put them on here. However, my experiences never started until we lived in a...

AugustaM Your comment intrigues me, but I am unsure at this time what I have that I feel would give me inner strength.

KatelynC I think I have some control over them because if I tell them to be quiet, they will usually quiet down. It's rare I have to ask twice. I am curious if you have experience with this yourself though.

Rook - I always feel privileged when you read my story:)

I really like reading everyone's comments to this. I hadn't heard the voices in a while, but a couple of nights ago, they woke me up around 2 a.m. It's odd that I am woken, but a few times I have managed to be woken from them. This time it was a woman. Sounded like just one woman. She was very happy. She kept laughing. Then she'd talk (I couldn't hear her well enough to decipher what she was saying) and she'd laugh again. I am not really scared by these voices I guess because I've never found them to be threatening. There's really only once I got scared by one, but that's a different story I need to write. I almost got out of bed to go search the house and turn off the TV, but from my room I can tell there's no TV on. I pretty much just rolled over and went back to sleep. I thought of this conversation though when I heard her and for just a second, I kind of wanted to know what she was so happy about.

Edonojie-Word - If I knew who the voices were coming from, I might be willing to communicate. The scary part is not knowing. I know what my deceased grandmother sounded like when she was alive. If I heard her, I'd talk to her (in fact, sometimes I talk to her because at times she feels so close). I don't want to communicate when I don't know who it could be. Plus, it's too may voices at one time. I do sometimes just catch one or two, but those times are rare, and I can't make out what they say. I really hesitate to open myself to communication when I don't know what I'd be opening myself to.

Elrond- I highly suggest nicely asking them to be quiet if you hear them. I don't ask often anymore because like I mentioned, I can usually ignore them. I have been woken only a few times at night by a loud voice, but those times are rare. That has startled me at first because I'm coming from a deep sleep, and at first I am confused. I don't see much wrong with asking nicely for them to quiet down. I used to even hear them in my dorm room when I was in college. It's a very unsettling feeling to always be looking for who the voice is coming from but not find anyone. At least, I've stopped looking now.
This is quite fascinating. I am excited to hear more about her experiences. It would be interesting to know if she has any memories at her age now. My daughter had some "imaginary" friends that I don't think were so imaginary and she recalls bits of them. She is 15 now, but doesn't like to talk much about them.

My heart is sad for Squidgem. Sounds like a residual haunting and I wonder if it still happens. Look forward to hearing about more of your experiences.
Like Rook said, some of the experiences are possible to maybe debunk, but others are harder to do so. What you describe almost sounds to me like a residual type haunting. Except for the petting of the cat and moving of things. Have you ever had an opportunity to research the history of the house? Is the house still there?
Rook, if we still lived there I could try to find out who the owner of the land might have been. I will have to ask a friend who is still in the area if the house still exists. I have to think she'd know of it since it was on her same road. I am not even sure how long that house had been there. I do know that it seems like the entire state of Louisiana is haunted, and my daughter had more experiences in that house as well as I did.

Jamospollypop, I don't ever recall having any "friends" as a child. I remember seeing things or feeling things that others around me did not. As an adult, I have only had a couple things that I saw (ironically) both happened at the house in Louisiana. I am more apt to feel things. Like my husband's parents house has a ghost that I had a few experiences with when I was pregnant. I should write about him sometime, he scared me.

Flex, I have a ton of stuff written down about what my daughter has said! She is 15 now and I try occasionally to get her to talk about it, but she will only say a few sentences here and there. She typically gets mad when I try to ask for her memories on the topic. I really wish I could get her to open up, but I have tried for years. I have a few more stories about things that she saw as she got older, but these "friends" she had are by far the most interesting.

After writing this I have more memories of this that came up. Mrs. S didn't know what to think, but almost every teacher in that building had some kind of experience that creeped them out and that was unexplained. As a rule, no one wanted to be there alone. If it was on a weekend and a teacher needed to go in, we would usually have our kids or spouse with us. The janitor told me she hated being there after we left because it was so creepy and she'd hear things. I tried to make her feel better by telling her maybe it was more squirrels because once there was a squirrel that got into the ceiling.

Mrs. S did say that she doesn't remember the door slamming before his passing, but she had been teaching in that room forever. The question of "do you remember that door slamming before his passing" did come out my mouth.

A few times when I had to teach in the room by myself, I would go in and talk to him. I asked him not to slam the door because we had a lot to do. I told him he was welcome to stay and learn. I don't remember it slamming those days. I also asked him not do do other things that scared me. I had the feeling of being watched so many times, and more than once there was someone making breathing noises by me. I think I saw him once. There were two big bookcases in the room, it was during naps and I remember seeing a small black shadow run by them, and then it seemed to turn, but that would have put the shadow in the hall because the bookcase ends were against the wall. I think whatever was there used to visit me in my own classroom too when I finally had one.

The Vice Principal used to just tell me that there were "negative ions" and the building needed more positive ones. I told him my creepy experiences in there. He was actually Mrs. S's husband and said she had complained of creepy things. When things happened to her she'd just "pray them away." It was an interesting place for sure.

I was wondering if you said "Goodbye." You always need to tell the spirit goodbye to close out the session. I hope you can get rid of whatever is haunting you by using suggestions others have given you.

I just have to ask for clarification. You say the power is cut off, but the lights started to flicker? Also your friend has a knee injury that leaves her unable to run, but she runs? I think I am going to sit on the fence on this one.
I lived in Louisiana for 4 years. I haven't yet submitted my stories from living there, but I think the whole state is haunted. You could try to politely ask it to go away. You'll feel silly saying to an empty room, "please go and leave me alone" but it has worked for me. Try to rule out anything that might make this not be paranormal and be sure to keep writing down what happens.

I love your stories! I remember once hearing a crash when we moved into a new house. I also woke up my 6'2" hubby, but he went with me. The horror we found was that the hamster cage had somehow fallen and we had to chase our children's hamsters around the boxes until we caught them and put them back in the cage at like 2 a.m.! 😆

I cannot wait for his back story! Seems like putting up his hands and backing off means he meant you no harm and was just very curious about you. He might have wanted to know at first if you really were able to see him. I don't think that all people have the ability to see/sense spirits as I have found in my life others are not having the same experiences I am. It sounds like some of your past experiences might have been from spirits strong enough to cause you harm. I hope the ones you meet from now on are more friendly.

Thank you so much for your comment! A lot of what you said makes sense. I might even know who the young woman is. I haven't been able to back up the claim because the road that the house is on is incredibly busy and there's usually at least 1 fatality per year on them. However, the realtor happened to tell my dad that the owner of the home before us had both his wife and daughter killed on the highway in a car wreck. I think I might have mentioned this in one of my stories, and after talking to my dad he said that the realtor was the one who told him of this. I am not sure, but I guess I think since I was a teen maybe she was the daughter. I am not sure of the age of the daughter or wife or what year this happened. I have asked around the valley with friends I still have, but not knowing exactly what year it happened has made it very hard to pinpoint the story. Also, I am not sure how long the guy owned the house because he had it rented when we bought it. What I do remember was that he was not willing to meet the new owners of the house. Part of me wondered if he knew his daughter was still there. Another part of me feels sad because I would think if I knew my child was there, I wouldn't leave.
I can't wait to hear more about your experiences in this house! I always dreamed of owning a Victorian, but my dream house instead turned out to be a house about 20 years old (and ghost free unlike some other homes I have lived in).

DirtCreature, Our dear Weenie passed on quite a few years ago. She was 19. She was very beloved. Weenie actually happened to be her nickname. Her given name never quite fit her. It was Sabrina. She was a good little dog.

I never considered a residual haunting, but now that you mention it maybe the stair ghost is residual. Maybe the cat is too. I never knew if it was a cat, the feeling of it just reminded me more of a cat. The interesting thing is once my husband and I married and stayed up in my old room together when visiting "ghost cat" has never visited. I never really minded "ghost cat."

Bibliothecarius, I am very upset someone would take my work. I will see what I can do about getting it removed. It is upsetting. Thank you for calling it to my attention.

Thank you for the kind words Enlightened! Looking back even though some experiences were a little scary after I had time to think about them, I never really felt threatened. So I have to guess that whatever is there doesn't mean any harm.
This sounds like a very interesting home. Could possibly even be an intelligent haunting if it calls out names. You will certainly have to keep us updated on it. I wondered if the laws in your state require the former owner to actually say if they believe their home is haunted.
