A Mischievous Entity? on 2017-05-18

I'm a new member to this community, and had a few stories I wished to share. I lived from 2009-2015 in a house that was host to a number of bizarre and unexplained occurrences that could only be described as paranormal. I'll let the reader be the judge, as I myself am still not quite sure what to ma...

Your recollection about the premonition of the ringing phone bearing a call from an unfamiliar number late at night is eerie, for sure. I wonder who was on the other end? I wonder if there's some sort of connection with the second incident involving the phone alarm?

At Wish-Not...

Let me rephrase it...I'm slowly inching towards an acceptance of ghosts existing. I'm a bit of a skeptic, and it's going to take some time for me to reconcile my pre-existing world view with the stuff my family experienced in that house. Maybe it's a coping mechanism, I don't know... But having your world view challenged takes time and reflection to adjust to, right? Happy

At Augusta,

From what I've read about the differences between "residual" and intelligent hauntings, I'd be inclined to agree with you guys that that might be a plausible explanation.

A friend of mind suggested that maybe something in the house does not yet fully understand that it is no longer a part of our physical world, and is simply going through its daily routines? Opening draws, cabinets? Maybe thinking "hey, I don't recognize these weird keys? Who keeps putting weird clothes in my dryer?"

And on to your question about the cats, they normally behaved very well, both had mild personalities. But they would go nuts around 2:00-3:00 AM every morning, running all over the place and banging into stuff. But this begs the question: Were they witnessing something, or just "cats being cats"? Cats do wacky stuff at night, especially after sleeping all day.

At Mack,

Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it.

We actually did look into the possibility that maybe a former resident of the home was deceased, or maybe possibly even died within the confines of the home, but we could never find anything conclusive. We found nothing to confirm, nor deny that. But that does seem to be a plausible scenario, if indeed the thing that was in our home was a ghost.

[at] trentinray: You're spot on, it really was more a series of annoyances than anything sinister. My wife and I actually did entertain the idea of trying to do some audio recordings for EVP or maybe trying to film the kitchen cabinets and drawers at night, but there were two reasons we didn't.

1. We were afraid of what we would see. I feel like we kind of tried to deny what was going on to an extent, maybe as a way of coping with it? Seeing or hearing something indisputable would have shattered our illusion, so to speak, and confronted us with something possibly very scary.

2. We didn't want to upset or offend whatever "it" was, and potentially escalate the situation. We'd both heard some pretty nasty stories of things getting out of hand once contact was made, and didn't want to potentially invite any of that, no matter how remote the chances seemed. But now that I'm far removed from that house, part of me does regret not looking into it further.
