Miracles,

You can probably get a group discount.

Where is the bar of soap, in proximity to you when you sleep... At the foot of the bed, I presume?

Javelina - soap experiment still ongoing at home. I can safely say I don't believe I kicked it with my foot and broke it. Although who knows... I might have been having some crazy dreams and did some "Kung Fu Fighting" in my sleep πŸ˜†. Right now the bar under my sheet is still intact.

Miracles,

If these spirits ever get nasty or too much to handle there is a ceremony you can perform that is sure to do the trick. Bust out your best 80's hairdo and your leather pants, and in your best Pat Benatar imitation, sing:

"You're a soap breaker
Toddler escaper
Trailer shaker
Don't you mess around with me"

Repeat three times... Followed by "No, no, no"

Warning: Therapy may be required for any adolescents or teenagers who witness this ritual.

DARKNESS - because you've been MIA again πŸ˜†, but you're here and you found me! Nah, the soap for RLS didn't work for me, but I think it may have been because the soap wasn't there long enough?

As for a hairline fracture. That thought never crossed my mind. It might explain it, truthfully. It would had to have been a very jagged fracture, though. Without being able to draw a picture of it and load it on here, I can't describe it accurately. I did try to recreate that jagged cut one night last week when talking to granny. The soap is too soft for "living" person to have taken a sharp object and cut it. My soap sort of balled up and came of in pieces. Not shavings, but pieces.

As for my kids, thank you. That is why we are so open in our conversations. Dalton has learned who he can talk freely around in our family. We recently had an incident in our home and my nephews were there. He waited until they left before he said "Mom, it must have been our ghosts." I had to agree. It was such an obvious in your face thing and none of us had been anywhere around. Jerrica is in the "I don't want to hear anything about our ghosts, Mom" stage right now 😨. The night of the Super Moon, she came home around 11:30 or so and I caught on my DVR a male voice saying "Bout time" when she walked in the door πŸ˜†. Not angry, just matter of fact. I busted out laughing when I heard it. Jerrica didn't think it was as funny.

Dan, as always, thank you.

Ahh Miracles firstly how in the world did I miss this story geez. 😲 Wow the soap thing yeh I have never heard of that before that's out there I'm sorry I have not read through all the comments as yet but did it work?
Miracles your ghosties always seems to be very mild tempered friendly in a way, attention seekers really couldn't ask for something better, well in my opinion anyway.😊 Jerrica and Dalton do have your gift and I feel it will only get stronger with age and having you as a mother there for them they will be well equiped for what they are yet to experience in there lives.
The soap thing hmmm I really don't know maybe a hairline fracture in it before hand or you have hit it with your own leg, or a ghost snapped it in half. πŸ˜† Very curious now!

Once again another great story Miracles love them.

VdubType1 - that was another odd thing. No shavings of any kind. Just those freaking jagged cuts and one half the bar of soap in the middle of my bed under the sheet and the other half in the floor. Taz and Miracles - I don't mean like really soft, but if it starts to get softer on the outside then in the core, it might not just tear straight across. Also, was there any soap shavings or little pieces of soap next to the piece that was still under the covers? If there wasn't, it was not caused by the soap drying out because when a bar of soap is dry and you break it in half, a bunch of pieces go everywhere. If I could upload a picture I would. I just broke a piece of soap in half and it has little shavings all over the table where I broke it. However, I use old man dial bar soap, so maybe that has something to do with it.

OMG,
Taz and Miracles, you two are hilarious. You know you can make a whole chunk of money working together as comedy group. I'm at work trying not to laugh (which is really hard to do). Some of my co - workers are looking at me as if I'm mad or something.

Taz,
Are you a detective or do you work in law enforcement or something? I'm asking because your theory could very possibly work out. I want to see what the outcome is to. Miracles, keep us posted.

Miracles,
As a social worker, it's never easy. Many of the jobs with the City of Toronto are contract jobs that are constantly being renewed (as usually the government being cheap). The social worker position that I held was a contract position with the City was for a special project. Now that it's done, I'm working as a Support Assistant in the Urban Forestry office. I'm now taking calls about trees (how fun!). These two jobs are worlds apart but like you said being a social worker can be difficult and I'm glad for the change of pace. That's not to say I won't be back to do social work but I needed the break. Since I have started working as a social worker, the things I saw were heart breaking and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. But the thing that keeps me going is that I helped one more person, that I was part of the action that makes this crappy world a better place to live in and at the end of the day, my conscience is clear.

In a way, I'm happy that I found a place like this where I don't have to put up a barrier around myself. (Something, I had to do in my line of work many times). I think I'm going to make some good friends here.

ok here is my idea on this, you say 2 weeks so for 2 week your sleeping with a bar of soap in your bed, body heat warming it nightly.
The sheets smell of the soap, I'm guessing the matress too yes?
So obvious its scary
Over 2 weeks in a warm inviroment without the protection of the wrapper (which is usualy plastic covered paper or box) the bar dried out slowly making it brittle, any kind of preasure on it would not snap it but cause a crack, you moving in sleep knocked one half out from under the sheet.

Now do you have anywhere you could leave a soap bar wrapped in an old towel or something got to be warm though for a few weeks and you will get same results

I sudenly thought of an old bar left in my partners parents home that his mum (sadly passed) had left in a face cloth been a week or so and that cracked when dropped into rubbish bag.

Sounds like a reasonable explanation.
I THANK YOU πŸ˜† ❀
CARL

VdubType1 - thanks for the advice on RLS. I'll look into it if it gets to where I need something for it again. Right now it's very tolerable.

As for the soap. It wasn't soft, which actually would have made it much more difficult to create the jagged cuts I believe. Ivory soap, in my opinion, seems to almost melt away as it softens. And the soap wasn't touching my body, but it was between the sheet and mattress, so it could have gotten warm.

I did place a brand new bar of plain white Ivory soap (same kind) between my fitted sheet and mattress last night. I'm going to try this again and see what happens. I'll let you guys know if anything like the jagged cut occurs.

miracles this soap thing been bugging me all day.
Have given it a lot of thought, re read story and comments and have to be honest I'm stuck! πŸ˜•

Now I can dismiss some ideas here (not that it helps)
Badjuujuu> moving or hitting the soap would leave marks in it not just sheet lines but indents
Vdubtype1 warm soap would not snap in a jagged line again just have indent in it and leave a great big mess on the sheets

No wait little idea guy in head kicking me again,

So I have two things for you miracles. For restless leg syndrome, go to your local pharmacy/walmart and pick up a bottle of iron pills. It is just an iron supplement, and it helps with rls.

And as for this bar of soap issue, I think I may have figured it out.

With the soap being under the covers and being close to your body, it gets warm and gets soft. If kicked with heel or ankle or even if it stuck to your leg and the sheet it might be possible that if you moved you could cause a jagged rip. Yes? No?

Miracles,
In support of your story, just like it is impossible to not recognize the sound of children running in a trailer, unless Dalton had unusual upper body strength for his age, he would have had to drop a good three and a half to four feet to exit the crib. Since you and your daughter were both focused on listening to him, you would not have missed that unmistakable thump either.
The commode...yeah, the manufacturer programs them to flush Sunday mornings...uh-huh, before you know it the "check engine" light will come on as well. I had a similar experience in the apartment I wrote about in one of my first stories, but failed to mention it. Except with me, the toilet would flush when I would walk into the bathroom. It probably did it maybe 20% of the time. It never did it for my ex, so I figured that my body weight caused the floor to shift and somehow made it flush. I tried out this theory one night when a friend of similar stature and weight was visiting... But we could not get it to happen. But the next morning, it happened again.
Maybe ghosts still use the bathroom? Stop at a gas station and use the rest room and tell me something dead isn't in there...

I believe you are very gifted, and your kids, too... I see changes in you almost daily... Good ones! πŸ˜†...Your progress has astounded me... I wish I could be like you!...

It must have been pretty spooky when it all started up again... But I love how you take it all in stride now... Great post... Faves bound ❀

Thanks Taz for the tidbit. I still trying to figure my way around this site.

Miracles, you have another fan in me. I truly love your stories. Many time you have made me laugh and also cry. Making me cry is a hard thing to do as I see all of things as a social worker. ❀

taz - wow, why didn't I think of that? Ivory Soap Slasher! Thank God I didn't! 😨 Ghosts I can handle, slasher movies I can't. I'm a chicken!

You could be right about the "motherly spirit." Someone obviously didn't want him to cry in his crib, other than Jerrica that is πŸ˜†

redphx - I'm not entirely sure what purpose the soap is supposed to serve. My mom, I believe, is who told me about it. Read it in an article somewhere.

Thanks for telling me you love my stories. That means so much. As for your mom, I feel for her. I truly do. It's a hurt that never goes away; it eases with time though. But the babies we have, we cherish❀.

BTW, my son? Gonna give TMI myself πŸ˜†. I knew the instant I got pregnant with him. Yeah, I know, I know. It's impossible, no one can know. But I knew. I felt it in my soul. And this little man? He and I have a bond that is pretty amazing ❀. There've been many times he's read my mind, but those stories are for the sister site LOL.

I have never heard of putting soap under the sheet. What therapeutic effect is this? How does this help?

As far as the paranormal. Great stories. I loved them all. My mother also lost that many babies before she had me. At her time though she opened up more to the paranormal so she could feel a presence when trying to make a baby. (Wow that is almost TMI) Anyway she said she felt me days before she tried. I thought that was kind of neat.

Miracles,
The soap mystery is a lost cause. I don't think we will ever find a logical explanation for it but we did come with some pretty interesting suggestion. Like Taz890 said, this is going into my favorites (but one question to all of you. How to you add stories to the favorites?

miracles is it no so obvious that the anwser has been staring you in the face all this time...
You had the spirit of the ivory soap slasher pop by one night πŸ˜†
Seriously though it is a strange one for sure.
As for dalton would say it was a motherly spirit that did not go for the "will cry to sleep" method and let him out
Thanks fro the fantastic post (adding to favs) ❀carl ❀

cosmogal - Oh, the looks on our faces, at least Jerrica's cause of course I couldn't see my own, were priceless. I imagine my jaw was to the floor. I agree with you, whoever else lived with us felt sorry for Dalton. Either that or they were tired of hearing him screamingπŸ˜†.

As for the soap, couldn't have been the springs because it was between the fitted sheet and mattress. Nowhere near the springs. I still cannot, for the life of me, figure it out. Especially one half in the middle of the bed and the other in the floor. Granted, I could have kicked one half in the floor during the night. But the jagged, serrated-type cut has baffled me for years.

Lou - I can always trust you to come up with a comment that makes me want to LOL! I'm going to have to start skipping your comments, though, until I'm at home. One day you're going to get me into troubleπŸ˜‰

Good points about the tv and cold spots. Never thought about that. Thanks for the view 😊.

I am shocked at how Dalton got out of his crib. Sounds like there was "someone" else around who didn't want Dalton to cry and helped him out. I can just imagine your faces when he came walking into the living room. 😲 LOL!

That soap thing has got me going pretty good. I'm thinking maybe it got caught in the springs and snapped which might explain the pattern in the break. Other than that I can't think of anything else. Did the soap help at least? LOL 😊 ❀

Miracles,

Like turning up the volume... Once you open up, they let their presence be known.
Maybe your ghosties liked to sleep late and the TV was disturbing them?
I think your tenants had plans to be a little more active... If they turn off the heat, you won't feel the cold spots.
With regards to the soap, this could be a very dangerous situation and I think BJJ is on to something with her heel comment... Lose the stilhettos before it is too late.;)

BadJuuJuu - I tried everything to make the same kind of cut with another bar of Ivory. I still use Ivory and have never been able to recreate that same cut. But I will go home tonight and try it again. As a matter of fact (crackpot idea here πŸ˜†), I'll put a new bar under my sheet tonight and see what happens. I still experience RLS, although not as bad as it was then.

As for Dalton being ticked, oh yeah! And that's being nice about it. πŸ˜‰

geetha50 - the reason I put the soap under my sheet was due to advice for that very reason. Someone somewhere said that a bar of soap under the sheet helps with RLS. Trust me, in my case it didn't help at all. All I got was a serrated piece of soap (and Ivory-scented sheets LOL).

I've never known myself to sleepwalk and neither of my ex-husbands or any roommates have ever mentioned it.

All I can think with soap is maybe, because of the restless leg syndrome, you broke the soap while thrashing around? Possibly try hitting a bar of soap in the middle with a blunt object, try to replicate smashing it with your heel or leg and see if/how the soap breaks. That's all I got.
Bet Dalton was ticked when you put him back in his crib lol.

I seriously do NOT want to be in your place. I have been sitting here drying to think of a logical reason for that soap issue for the last half while I was working. The only thing that came into my head is that somebody must have taken the soap used an object with the same pattern on the soap to cut it. Then cleaned up the mess and put the other half back under your sheets. The person / ghost who did this must have an extremely neat person to do this.

As I was typing this, I just thought of something else. Do you sleep walk for any reason and you don't know about it. You might have done it in your sleep and not even know about it. πŸ˜† I will write back if I think of anything else.

I know that this doesn't have anything to do with your ghost but like you, I suffer from Restless Leg Syndrome. When I ask my doctor, she told me to lose weight and it will all be better. (Did I tell how much I hate doctors and hospitals?). So, anyways, I'm always looking for something to make me comfortable while I sleep. I was wondering why you a bar of soap under your sheet for the Restless Leg Syndrome?
