Judging from the comments here, nobody here likes the 'Memento mori' thingy. I think baby Leon didn't either which was why he was restless until after it was destroyed.

Have a good rest, taz. XD at the split personality part.

Why would people take pictures of a baby after it has passed away... It is just plain insenstive. To blow it up and frame it! What were they thinking?

I am sorry sorry though.

DARKNESS thanks mate nice of you to say that 😁

Yes I do think it was leon as it was not until after lisa had moved to mum's then back home again that she found out the truth about the picture.

Up until then she and most others though darrel had just had it done as a memmorial to leon.
He was the only one who knew from day one.

And after the picture was gone everything stopped in both houses.

I do think the music at his grave site was his way of saying he was ok and with lisa.

Agree the momento mori pictures are "not very nice" personaly I would say it a bit stronger~ fu**ed up!
But then I am common as muck 😆

Glad you enjoyed it mate 😊

monyet have seen pics on web too.
Think the worst was a young girl looked about 6 stood next to her brother looked about 8, his hand on her right shoulder, him on her left.
A sweet picture of brother and sister.

That is until you notice his eyes are closed and its the horror in that poor girls eyes, she is stood next to her dead brother and is terrified.

Your so right give me a "living" photo anyday!

Hey Taz wow that's quite out there isn't it! You done well for being there for the family when they went through this terrible event. I agree that the photo must have stirred up some emotion and energy within the home, do you think that it was Leon? I am familiar with "The Others" and also Momento Mori or Victorian death photos, not very nice stuff would be a bit upset about that. 😢 Great story mate as always. 😊

[at] 510mot I can back you up on that. I think it was a common practice in 1860 - 1910. I actually saw some pictures scattered in the web with the family posing with the dead. Some pictures even had the children with their eyes open. (Sorry if I offended anyone.)

[at] Taz Thanks for the story. As for me, I'd rather have a picture of my child taken when he was still alive than one taken when he is already dead.

javelina! I'm sorry I missed your comment 😲

That must have been awful for you.
When someone expects to get this kind of photo is one thing but just like that how nasty!
That would be such a sickening shock,
I hope this was not too recent and you have had time to get passed it.

redphx I'm only guessing here obviously but I think that leon knew the pain knowing the truth about that picture would cause and actually wanted it gone.
There were others around of course of him alive but it was just that one pic.

miracles I accept your message full heartedly and I will always give you heads up xx
The only thing I hope to see in any comment is heart felt and I know with yours I get that.
No little pic means more than seeing MIRACLES51031 at the top of a comment so I accept that too ❤

that is really freaky. I wonder why Leon was so mad about the picture? It is funny how we don't realize that the souls of babies are not actually babies but advanced souls with intelligance and comprehension. Leon was very upset for some reason.

taz - I just caught some of the comments and clicked one that brought me here and saw your first line. Thank you for the personal heads up and for the forewarning to everyone who didn't know.

You know I'd read it if I could. You also know I can't. So whatever words of wisdom and insight (insert whatever emoticon you choose here) you think I would say, please know that I would mean them with all my heart. ❤

Looking forward to your next story.

Taz,
You are a very special person. Even at 17 you knew to be there to comfort your friend ❤
Sadly, DeviousAngel is right, this practice has yet to die out (no pun intended). After my little sister passed, the hospital was instructed to forward any and all paperwork and Death Cert. To me. When I received the papers, someone had also included a picture of Sheila taken after death. It has never occurred to me to sue them for that (and I'm not planning to either). However, I did write a rather scathing letter to the hospital administrator.
Some people's ideas of what would make a suitable memento is just f*&$ing twisted.
Well, I hope I didn't creep anyone out with that. If so, I apologize.

Why why why would someone take pictures of the deceased? That is so morbidly disturbing. 😭 I know they used to do that many years ago and I could never understand how or why that even started. Ick...
I am so sorry for your friends loss, I can't even imagine the pain. You really are a great friend to have Taz, spending time with her and staying over just to be there was very generous of you. ❤

ok firstly thank you all for the comments xxx
Will just quickly add the picture did look like he was sleeping in his normal possition, on back face to right, arms bent up fists closed next to head.

Deviousangel that's sick! I thought 1 photo was bad but a whole album? How awful for the parents and to 2 pose the baby too why?.

Louslips got tissue and glass of water for you bud to rince after, you know, exorcist remake!
It happens strange but true abbie and spike lost a son, (still born) and they had a photo of him, framed and on the wall. And no nothing happened to them over that photo.

510mot jump in anytime happy for you to add infomation.
Just a quick movie link~ the others with nicole kidman in, that movie shows the photos 510 mentioned and it was not just kids, any family member,
Long term staff and also (real strange bit) the siblings of the past child would be posed with the body as though just a normal family picture,
Some even in coffins.
These pictures were called momento mori (bless google)

Anyway freaked you out enough with that 😲

Thanks again 😁
Carl ❤

[at] LouSlips- Honestly I could not understand this but in the late 1800s until around the early 20s a cottage industry arose doing just that. They would photograph these children in poses that simulated sleeping. It was supposed to convey the peace they were now enveloped in. I believe it was called "Slumbering Angels" photography. (Not 100%) Man, when people started saying that truth is stranger than fiction they must have been talking about this! Sorry to hijack your thread,O/p,won't happen again.-510

Wow. This story is disturbing. That is messed up... Why would someone think that a parent would want a picture of their dead child? I could not imagine losing a child... It is every parents' greatest fear.

Thanks for sharing, Taz...I'm going to puke now.

That is absolutely terrible. I just heard something on the news that was similar, of a woman who sued a hospital because they sent her a photo album of her dead infant in various outfits and poses. It makes you wonder how often things like that happen and what mindset people have to be in to just... Pose a baby like it's a doll.
