[at] bacchaegrl,
Sorry girlfriend, but that was just way too much sucking up this time. A couple of sentences is one thing, but that?

Aah Moongrim,
Once again you are assuming you know exactly what others are assuming. And with a knowing nod as well.
However, when a person asks a question about a topic they aren't an expert on, and they preface that question with what they had always thought was the case, it shows they are open to learn. Not the other way around. They want to know the answer.
Also, saying that Atheists don't concern themselves with others beliefs isn't entirely true, at least not lately it isn't. Atheist groups across this country are currently clogging up the court system with lawsuits against just about every religious sect but Muslims. So, they do push their beliefs on others. And they are trying to change the dynamics. Putting them as above it all is just not reality dear. They have become just as pushy as those they are fighting. Sounds like a religion to me.

Oh Moongrump, is there anything you don't know? You seem to have an answer for just about everything. I like how you are so very passive-aggressive. It's neat to see how you take little jabs at people. I like that sometimes you aren't afraid to call someone out when you think they are dishonest. You seem to really know your stuff. I've watched your comments over time, and I find it really interesting how you quickly come to a person's aid while bashing someone else at the same time. I like your resolve. It's good to be dead set in your ways. It seems almost, well conservative in a way. I heard they don't take kindly to change or new ideas. But that's just what I've heard. The great thing about the internet is how impersonal it is. To everyone else, you are just words on a screen. We mean nothing to each other while we hide in our rooms, offices, or internet cafes putting on a tough facade. Knocking people down with our wit and eye for criticism. The anoymity of it all is just great. We can do things on the internet that we would never dream of in real life. Calling each other names. Putting each other down with our overblown sense of self importance. Moongrump, you are the epitome of the internet for me. You personify all that's great about using the internet and commenting on forums just like this. We only get to see little pieces of your charming self; and boy, is it refreshing to see someone so calloused that they can pass off another human being as if they were nothing at all! Since we are just letters on a computer screen, we don't see the inner complexities that make us all human. And so we can just categorize a person, and hope that label sticks. You've turned this into an art. Singling out a particular person, giving them a name that you yourself designated, and that's it. That's their existence. You have shown much depth in your comments. I can see that you have a multi-faceted personality. And I know about mood swings, being bi-polar myself. I know you are a complex person too, so I won't pass you off as the "cold iron" guy. Or that jerk who likes to pick on perfectly nice people. No, I would never do that. The great thing about this forum, is that now you can come back at me with full force. Give me a label, and pass me off as the insignificant nothing that I am. So, I'm ready. I just want to say that I'm impressed by your resolve and committment to misinterpret and pigeon hole everything you come across.
As far as the story goes, because I certainly wouldn't want to get off topic, I hope your friend is okay. Also, did you ever ask your mom about her ouija board experiences? Maybe something she did can shed light on what happened.

The supposed 'Satanic Messages' that so many folks get their knickers into a twist about- is called: Backmasking.

The 'fear' that so many get concerning it- is the notion that backwards sounding lyrics will have a subliminal effect upon the listener, and take over their mind causing them to commit great acts of evil- to include: robbing, raping, murder, or voting for Democrats...

Electric Light Orchestra and Styx, following their involvement in the 1980s backmasking controversy, released songs that parody the allegations made against them. ELO, after being accused of Satanic backmasking on their 1974 album Eldorado, included backmasked messages in two songs on their next album, 1975's Face The Music.[61] "Down Home Town" begins with a voice twice repeating (in reverse) "Face the mighty waterfall".

The entire furor over this was started when some reactionary christian groups 'discovered' what they felt were 'secret commands from Satan' on several songs of what is commonly called- 'The Devil's Music', i.e. Rock Music.

Looking for Satanic Messages, is not going to disqualify a person from being an atheist, any more than their eating angel food cake or devil's food cake.

oceansea, I cannot speak for this poster, but being an atheist just means you do not believe in a God/gods. You can still believe in spirits.

One random question Munster.
You say that you are an Atheist, yet you believe that you witnessed Evil spirits or at least something along those lines. How does that fit in together? 😕

I'm feeling very concerned for your friend! Did he receive any medical attention at all?! It sounds to me as if he was having a panic attack. He may have even had anxiety from listening for the satanic messages...

Munsterx3,
So, how long ago was the incident with your friend? And is he OK? No others episodes of hyperventilating for no reason?

Hello, I don't think you're crazy. I experienced breathing in my ear & what's strange is that at the same time I was reading a ghost story book & kept feeling like I may be inviting the spirit world into mine. I agree with the other posters that you should be careful about delving into dark forces too deeply. Thank you for sharing.

Munsterx3,
Thanks for responding. Look hun, you must know that we take things serious here when it comes to playing with the bad guys. So often they end up here in the end wanting answers and magic cures. And in this age of microwave ovens and the Internet, folks get a little edgy when they realize there are no overnight Hollywood happy endings. It's pretty much a crap shoot really, because what works for one case may just aggravate another.
Also, I really wasn't kidding about getting your friend to tell his parents about that breathing episode. That can be just a small thing or it actually be a symptom of heart disease. I know it sounds like it may be nothing, but it also sounds like it could be something. And the sooner he gets checked out the better.

Sorry for the lectures kiddo, I'm a mom. Old habits die hard.

Jav

~~I do have to ask though, I was under the impression that Atheists don't believe in God OR the Devil. So what's up with the searching for Satanic messages in the music?~~ 😕

Jav, I don't think you're being harsh, I just feel foolish now, as I should. But anyways thank you for posting. And when I spoke of my Great Grandfather I meant like pure white like Casper

Munsterx3,
Let's start where you did. Seeing your Great Grandma on the wall. That was a very sweet and loving thing for her to do for you, treasure that memory. I know I would. And seeing your Grandfather walking around your back yard is a comforting sight, I would think.
You say he was a white man. What exactly does that mean? Dressed in white? All white, like Caspar? But in human form, naturally.
Now to the rest of your story.
Are you crazy? That's what you asked. Hmm...
Wish I could help you out there kiddo, I really do. However, it does sound like you and those you associate with, and perhaps even members of your immediate family, are on the express bus to finding just what you are looking for. Don't be surprised when things really do start to move in and take up residence OK? Seriously, after the little you've revealed here, it would behoove you, in the future, not to come back here asking HOW it happened that some malevolent entities have moved in and won't leave. Because you all are doing a heck of a job hanging out those "Welcome" signs.
First of all, has anyone notified your friends parents about what happened when he, as you say, hyperventilated? Neither one of you are Doctors, right? So saying it doesn't mean anything, or chalking it up as something paranormal is not only foolish, it's dangerous. So take care of that little situation ASAP, before it comes back to bite you in the butt.
Next, get some fresh air, exercise, something. Anything to keep you from delving into things that someone else is going to have to rescue you from. It's one thing to be curious, it's a whole other ball of wax to participate in any of that nonsense. And yes, by listening and looking for the Satanic messages in the music, you are participating.
Sorry if you think I'm being too harsh, I don't think I can be harsh enough. But that's just me.

Jav
