Obnoxiously evil? I like it! Yes, I think that's perfect πŸ˜†

Girls are mean πŸ˜†

Thank you, Miracles! Phew... Now I can rest easy! 😁

Call me a complete hypocrite: I used to work at a school and one of the eighth grade girls there told some of the younger elementary kids that their school was haunted. Just so the younger kids would have the courage to go the bathroom by themselves, I had to utterly convince all of them there's no such thing as ghosts. 😳

aya - I don't think they did any research at all. They had a link to this site to a story about a child ghost. I think all they did was a search and then posted the website, without checking into it first.

Before I had time to compose this comment LOL, they had already removed YGS from their recommended sites for children's ghost stories.

I have sent them a thank you email.

Yep! Okay, granny! Seriously, why would they link this on a website meant for children?! Some of the stories on here I imagine can be pretty scary, and others pretty graphic even for me. Never mind... I don't even watch rated 'R' movies, lol. 😠 😲

granny - thank you! As some of you know, I have a 10-year-old little boy and I do not let him read over my shoulder when I'm on here. Some of the stories are completely fine, but it doesn't mean the comments are harmless.

There are many other sites that are age appropriate for children. This just isn't one of them. Just because there are stories submitted on here that deal with children seeing ghosts, or ghost children, doesn't make it safe for children to be on this site.

I've already sent my email to the site, granny, asking them to remove us as a recommended site for children.

Thank you ❀

TO ALL: I was searching for sites to recommend to enchantix12, happened upon this site:

And what site was there? YGS!...I promptly e-mailed them and asked to be removed from their list... If any of you guys could, please go there and voice your displeasure as well... Let them know you're members of the site...

Wow, really? I feel privileged to be a part of that small number. Lol

Btw I remember where I heard the guy who was choked was thought to have killed himself. It was a documentary on paranormal activity in prisions. It went in to how many obvious cases of "paranormal murder" occur to those behind bars. The whole thing with him being attacked was know by one of the guys in the next cell. The guy who was haunted had confided it to him, and then when he was killed that inmate tolds the guards it was an enitiy. But on the corners report they put he strangled him self by crushing his own larnex and then asphexated once he passed out.
I'm still trying to find a story link.

Lovely: Thank you for fave-ing me!...You know, I can't be 100% sure, but I know I didn't move my hands or the camera much at all for the last pic... All I did was watch the flash ready light... I think the flash would have been further to the right or centered a bit more... But who knows for sure? πŸ˜†...Our vacation this year was a toss up between the Stanley Hotel, the Winchester House or Alcatraz... The next trip I make with my hubby is going to be The Stanley Hotel, because he needs to get the bajeezus scared out of him...

I'm actually going on a private ghost hunt with some friends next year to the Mansfield Reformitory in Ohio... I told him he can't come along, he'll cramp my style LOL!...

Sorry for my lateness in getting to your story here Granny! I love the way you narrate your experiences and the more I hear of your trip to Alcatraz the more I wish I was there myself!

The pictures give me some creepy vibes for sure! Are you planning a return trip at any time to see if it feels different at night time maybe in the future?

his is the first story of yours that I have read and can't wait to read the other ones! Have just added you to my favourite authors so will make my way through your list! Just a quick question on the 3rd picture, are you 100% sure that the camera was all the way through the hole in the plexi-glass? The reason that I ask is that it looks as if the flash has caught the top left hand corner and created a blur over the rest of the picture. I spend a lot of time looking at possible ghosts in photos and seeing what's real and naturally explainable, and I reckon it may be explained away by this.

Also, I'd love to go to Alcatraz! Was speaking to my partner about it the other day. We go to Florida once a year and think that we'll maybe go to different places over America at some point. If anyone has any suggestions where we should stop (paranormal wise) please let me know 😁

Moongrim: Thanks for liking the pics... And since you've lived in a city, obviously you know the sounds of one... Across a full body of water, I doubt seriously if one could distinguish the sounds of children's laughter from the BART... The sounds would be quite muddled, no?...And you're right, there may have been more children than the ones I saw...However, I wouldn't have heard them twice as the security guards would have taken care of it the first time...

Thank you for reading and commenting... Always good to hear other possibilities 😊

cosmo: I think there's a lot of residual emotions there, along with the ghosties πŸ˜†...I don't know about the cell I couldn't go into, just 14D... I hope you make it there... You might have to leave Pat home again LOL!

BeautInside: Thanks so much for reading and commenting...It's a trip I've wanted to make since I was a kid... I wanted to go live with the Indians when they occupied the island (for a minute LOL)...Very interesting stuff there...

Fanny: Thanks!...It's nice to be considered your favorite❀...Yeah, I don't think I'd sleep too much in a jail cell... Unless they had cable... If I'm ever up that way, I will definately check it out, it sounds cool!

Luna: I really don't know why the third pic is like it is...it's creepy though!...Thank you for your interest...

Geetha: Maybe it's not jealousy, it's envy... But if it's any consolation, I spent a lot more money than I intended LOL... I don't think you'd pee your pants πŸ˜†...Thanks for reading and commenting!

I loved this story. Another name added to my list of places to visit. I have to admit, I kind of get jealous when people get to visit these kind of places but then again, I shouldn't complain because I probably end up peeing my pants...lol...cool all the same...I'm having trouble viewing the large versions of the pictures but I think that's because of my work computer. I will check it out once I get home.

Really TigerKing... I think many people will be nice to you this time around because you are new here but we don't take it to kindly to people putting down respectable author on this site like granny. Martin (site manager) wouldn't have made granny a mediator if she was experienced enough or was lying all the time. Next time you make a comment, watch what you are saying.

Granny, I think you have become my favourite author! I would love to visit Alcatraz, but I think I might be too chicken.

Last year I went on a haunted tour in Ottawa. It included a tour of the oldest jail in Canada. It's actually a hostel and you can sleep in jails cells! I, of course, never would. Like I said I'm a giant chicken, but if you're ever up this way you should check it out.

Aussiedaz, I don't think you jumped the gun. I agreed with everything you wrote in your post and I think TIGERKING deserves the asspancake award!

Anyway, thanks Granny for the awesome posting. I can't wait to read the rest of your posts.

Best,
Fanny ❀

Now I understand why Marie didn't want to go; that place must be full of painful memories and never ending suffering, it's so sad...

Hey granny, It took a while, but I'm glad to see your story has finally made it up. I can't help but wonder if there was something significant that happened in the cell you refused to go into. Even with the reflections of the glass the photos still give off a pretty eerie vibe.
I don't know when or if I am ever going to California, but if I do Alcatraz is #1 on my list to visit. 😊 ❀

TIGERKING: I'm really not sure who your comment was directed to, but let me assure you, I have nothing to gain by presenting false claims, or embelishing "the facts" as you know them... In FACT, I don't believe anyone who has commented on this thread has any reason to either...

This statement from you: "What I'm saying is in some comments (not only this story), people seem to want to believe so much that they are creating and even believing nonsense." is a source of confusion for me... I don't know if you're talking about belief in the paranormal, or in the account itself... Could you please clarify this point?...

Thank you!

Taz: Thanks sweetie pie!...Yeah, this place is spooky in broad daylight, I can't imagine being locked away there for years 😨...Don't get me wrong, these were the worst of the worse criminals, and as such were treated like the animals they probably were... But they left behind a lot of negative energy...

DARKNESS: I know a lot of the history, but not all... In fact, I'd never heard of a child dying there until I was told by a friend who'd done some research... So the sounds of the children had me completely baffled at first... I really have no clue why the third pic is like it is, but most of my friends who have empathetic abilities get very bad feelings from it... I certainly hope to meet all of my Aussie fellows one day!

Aussie: I think you were right in your first comment! πŸ˜†...Thank you for that... Thanks so much for reading and commenting...

Zeta: There was a pretty long line of people behind me, so I didn't linger long... I see the red you're refering to, but I believe it is the brickwork showing through... I don't know about the outline, I see it too, but there is another window on the right side of the pic, could be from that... Thanks for reading!

Believer21: πŸ˜† Don't feel foolish, honest mistake!...Funny you mention the man at the back, you're about the third one to pick up that feeling... The D block was separated from the general population, they were solitary confinement cells... The inmate who was found dead, I think you're right, was ruled a suicide, but really, it's physically impossible to strangle yourself...You'd pass out first, so I think they were just looking for an out LOL...

Thanks to everyone who took the time to read and comment...

So after posting on your last story I feel foolish. I started working my way down the lastest hauntings and BOOM here's this story. (My excuse for not noticing it eearlier is lack of sleep due to gassy baby... πŸ˜†)

First off those picturees make me uncomfortable, and I get the weird sense of a tall man standing in the back of the room in the third.
The d-block cell you mentioned, was there a reason it was seprate from the rest, or am I just getting the lay out wrong.
As much as this place unnerves me I will travel there. Not sure if I could do a night tour but its good to know to book way in advance.
Also about the inmate who was choked by an unseen force; wasn't his death ruled a suicide? I could swear I read or heard that somewhere. I tried searching it but came up empty, I'll look again when I don't have to use mobile net.
I wouldn't do the audio tour either, too distracting.

I love your accounts, they are always so full.

Cool story granny, the photo's are really interesting and I enjoyed the way you presented your account heads up mate for sharing it with us... And after reading tigerking comments a couple of times, I see he was more generalizing his thoughts to other threads and only to some of the comments already written here rather than directly at you... So sorry for jumping the gun with my previous last comment although I do believe its better to refrain yourself a little rather than bloating mild insults on this thread or anywhere else especially when your the new kid in town.

Tigerking, It seems you are pretty new to this sight and like a lot of new authors they often like to come here telling people how things are and what is what and what is not... I can reassure you something about this author... By the way who has probably spent her time without pay reading and processing your story here at YGS because she works for them is one of the most respectable members and most honest person I have ever had the pleasure of calling a friend, you may have some expertise in bogus type's of stories having told a few by your own admission... But mate, telling this author your a little insulted by some of her comments was not called for.

Love it Granny as usual awesome work, I liked the idea of you opting not to use the headphones, good thinking friend, although I bet there was some good history lessons included in the recording, but I gather that you know all about them anyway! 😁

Im with Miracles regarding the differances in clarity on pics 3 and 4 the 3rd is what got my attention I think I have asked you this already but what do you think of that actual photo? Strange indeed! πŸ˜•

It would be great to find out if anyone else who has visited Alcatraz has picked up on the feeling and the children you heard around that particular stairwell!
One day I would love to visit myself but at the moment that seems like a while away hahaha one day though one day! 😁

Thanks for another beauty Granny!

zzsgranny: You're talking to the person who has not been to Catalina Island or the Queen Mary... I mean, you could see Catalina Island from my grandma's kitchen window and I still have never been there... What the heck is wrong with me? LOL

One of the places on my list is the old Calico mining town off Ghost Town Rd on the way to my neck of the woods from Las Vegas. Have you had a chance to check that out yet? I hear they used to have an awesome night tour that they stopped doing for some reason.

D/A: You know, there's a lot of places right here in Las Vegas I haven't been yet πŸ˜†...One of these days we're going to do a "stay-cation" and get aquainted with it again...It's a great tour, and I regret not getting in on the evening/night tour, but I enjoyed it nonetheless...

Miracles: I can understand why Maria didn't want to go, also, especially after experiencing the negativity of that first cell in D block...I've never felt the sensation of pure fear before, and let me say, I don't like it one little bit LOL πŸ˜†...

Looney: You really need to go, and you too D/A!...The whole island is such a paradox... There are beautiful, exotic folliage, and animals; but then you get to the main prison, and the outside world melts away... And as open and light and airy as the building seems, there is still a sense of oppression, I want to say compression, because it does feel close...

A little info on the pics: in the first two you can see the texture of my thermal shirt, my arm, and the swirls in the plexi-glass...The next two were taken only seconds apart, just waited for the flashy thingie to tell me when I could take another one...

Thanks you guys for the comments and for reading!... ❀

zetafornow: I see what you are talking about, but I think the red stains might just be the natural brick showing through the dirty parts. If it were blood, for example, it would not be red. It would be dark brown or black after being exposed to oxygen for so long.

I do, however, see the outline of the castket that you are talking about in the fourth picture... Very spooky.

Hey granny:

Very descriptive story! I love the way you write. When I looked over the pictures, the first shot almost looks as if there is a red stain on the brick wall on the left side of the picture. The second photo depicts a red stain on the floor (right side of the picture). Also, on the fourth picture it appears as if there could be an outline of a casket on the floor. Am I the only one who sees this? And did you notice this in person or just on the photos?

Thanks granny. I've never been to this site but I almost feel as if I have now. 😊 zeta.

granny - what amazes me is the difference between the 3rd and 4th pictures. The 3rd picture obviously "foggy" or "misty" and the 4th so clear it's ridiculous. I'm going to guess you snapped the pictures within a few seconds of each other?

I understand why you didn't want the headphones on during the tour because I would have been the same. Having them on would have hindered your abilities.

I also understand why Marie didn't want to go with you on this trip. The 3rd picture? It makes my stomach knot and my heart hurt. There's just something about it that makes me feel really bad. It's not a place where she would have been comfortable. I think, if she'd have made the whole trip with you, you would have definitely felt her fear and apprehension 😒

I think I might put Alcatraz on the bottom of my Bucket List πŸ˜†

zzsgranny, thank you for sharing your experience! I really cannot believe that I have lived in California all my life and have never once been to Alacatraz. I bought an Alcatraz shotglass for my mom, who collects them, at a gift shop in the city. But I have never actually been to the island. I would absolutely love to go on one of the tours there. Like you, I am pretty empathetic and I think it would be so exciting to experience all of the emotions that you picked up on during your tour. Places like that really fascinate me.

I think the photos you took are really interesting. The first two obviously picked up the glare from the plexi-glass, you can see the spirally texture of the grain, even. However, the ones you took through the hole--the first one is very foggy, and I do not know if that might be a reflection or if you picked up on something. The last one looks fairly normal, though with a little glare from something. I like your description of the emotions you felt looking into the morgue... I can certainly say that it makes sense that they would be associated with that particular area.
