I totally understand verrallcjv, I dont think this is your real name, but I decided to put mine, of course not my last name, but my friends call me squid. Now heres the simlarity. When I was 17 it all started when my dad's adoptive mother asked me to sleep with her in the bed because she said she is lonely, well of course spend time with her during the day, play piano, then sleep whatever. So when I slept I was on my back, and this pressure happened in the middle of the night, all I could see was this shadow thing and I couldnt move (same descriptions like you) all I could cry is NOOOOOOOO, but my grandma (right next to me)couldnt hear me. then I blacked out and I opened my eyes, my grandma was praying at 3:45 with a rosary. I'm thinking "who the hell prays at 3am? After that I never slept over again. Then a month or two later I had the same experiences in my room (at my own home this time), same thing, that people cant hear me, I'm trapped on the bed, all I could do is look around and call out for my mom "help me" etc. One day I just got fed up, and luckily I was sleeping with my dog, the clear shadow paralizing thing came and I pushed it with my energy ( I would say soul, but you would probably think I'm bull!*%$#ting you, so I'll say energy, I said LEAVE ME ALONE, GET OFFFFF! Creepy thing is that, the shadow thing hopped off my bed, because I felt the weight hop off, and the evidence of that, is that my DOG HOWLED, and was barking at the ceiling and my dog left my room. We dont have to be religious to know this, but I am open to all religion, born a catholic though, still my dad and auntie told me to pray, for me praying didnt work, but I beleived in the cross, and whats sad is that I knew that this thing would come again and I PREPARED (the event with my dog)for it like I was ready for battle, I held the crossnecklace all the way through while I slept when I pushed it away with my energy, this clear thing (thats what I used to call it) it was so scary that it became annoyying! so I fought it and I hope it never comes back. I am for science and religion, but beleiving or not, it happened, FREAKKY AND ANNOYING. What freaked me out is that at the age of 22/23 I seen the exorcism of emily rose movie and it freaked me out how this about 3 am. So lets back track, the episode with my dads adoptive mother 3:45? she sets her clock 45 minutes fast because as her routine she doesnt want to be late for working at the airport. Those episodes in highschool, it would happened alot at 3:15, now, didnt want to get tardies for school, so I would set my clock 15 minutes fast. FREAKYYYYY. I swear, I was so upset I used to think something followed me, because it all happened when I visited my grandma. Its not good when your scared. To fight it have the mentality of fighting back to it like saying "I'm gonna kick your ass" or leave me alone you peiece of !*%$#" thats how annoyed I was, but today if it were to happen, which I hope it wont, I would say "leave me alone" "stop" "NO" or "I didnt do anything to deserve this blah blah blah. You have to be strong, dont be afraid, I admit it is scary, !*%$# it scared me. but I beleive in you. You can either talk in foul language or be gramatically correct. as long as you fight mentally. it scared me because those events happened before the emily rose movie, I am now 24 and those events happened to me in 1999/2000/2001. I never knew about the 3 am thing. I would always see my clock...man... freaky, but remember what I told you. Be strong, and if your lonely call a friend, turn some music on, I dont recommened the tv. if you notice weird soundsin your house, that means it might be coming ( its different for some, thats how it was for me, so dont trip out if you hear sounds it might be your water heater or something) but fo me, I knew the sounds were not of the house or my parents, it would occur around 1:40/2:00am). Do not stay, get out or call your partner, friend, parents, and if alone, FIGHT (mentally). I hope this helps because I understand. o you and try not to be depressed, because they feed off that.

please can someone tell me if I am just rdeaming or if it's something more that I am experiencing. since last summer whenever I have been having a nap during the day or been in bed in the morning I have had experiences of some walking/running on my landing into my bedroom, I have wooden floorboards and no carpet and they really bang. Like someone is really banging ther feet down. I can't wake up and feel like I am being pushed into the bed, it's not that I can't move I don't think!!! I seem to toss and turn with out being able to sit up or look towards anything I think fear may keep my head under the duvet but I am not sure. I don't know if I am awake or asleep but as it feels very real and it's not just once or twice but occurs quite often could anbody give me any idea. This morning I felt like someone was tucking my duvet around me but pushing me towards the bed as they where doing it. Any answers anyone

I'm 25 and have been seeing ghosts off and on for 15yrs. For the last 5yrs, I've been experiencing "Sleep Paraylsis" - it didn't matter where I lived, it would happen to me often for a few weeks and then I'd be fine for almost a year. It feels like someone has crawled into your chest and you are fighting with it and can't move. I was almost convinced this was just "Sleep Paraylsis" until I moved into a new place last winter. I started waking up to something stomping around in my bedroom. My roommate heard this also, it wasn't just me. Then my friend was sleeping over one night, she woke up and couldn't move and was screaming my name in her head, unable to make a sound. When she was able to move, she sat up and saw a Soldier in full uniform, helmut, goggles everything standing at the front of my bedroom where all the stomping was going on. Then one Sunday morning I woke up and was relaxing before getting out of bed - I heard something start walking towards me, walked around my bed and stopped right next to me. And then I began waking up, feeling like my soul is being invaded and I can't move or speak. A few times I've woken up to a man saying hello to me, and using my name. It's terrifying and it has gotten to the point that now it happens to me constantly all night long and I'm looking for a new house - hopefully I'll pick one without any lingering spirits. Sleep Paraylsis describes the symptoms we are experiencing, but it doesn't explain why - Why does this happen to just some of us? It doesn't make sense that we're just hallucinating in our sleep.

In response to Angeline's comment: False Awakenings are actually much different than that. You are still very accurate in your descriptions of what sleep paralysis truly is. But, a false awakening occurs completely in dreams and has no effect on reality. It is when you are in a dream and think that you have woke up from that dream in your normal fashion. Usually something weird makes you realize that you are not actually awake, and in fact still dreaming. This has happened to me more times than I can remember. The result in most cases is a lucid dream which is one of the greatest phenomenons our human mind allows. I have had a false awakening where I woke up in my old house and went about as if everything was normal until I realized I hadn't lived there for about 7 years. I soon just started flying around the town and doing some of the craziest things ever.

hi I am 16 years old and have had 3 sleep paralysis "attacks", in the first one it was before I fell asleep, I was just closing my eyes then it seemed like I opened them again, at the foot of my bed I saw a dark outline of a boy with red eyes staring at me, my ears started going crazy with all of these wierd sounds, I turned over to the other side of my bed with all of my will, at that instance it was over. the second one I was sleeping and I felt my bed shake up and down, like somebody was punching under my bed, I was paralyzed but that only lasted a split second, the most recent one that I had was yesterday, I was sleeping in my bed and all of a sudden I heard these repeated really really loud sounds. I was paralyzed I tried to move my eyes and for a split second they opened and I saw a hallucination that the room was really fuzzy and I saw my brother and he looked really awkward, then I finnally moved and I was unparalyzed, I then decided to go back to sleep but as soon as I did I heard the sound again, I didn't want to go back into a relapse so I just decided to get out of bed.

Ok someone tell me where you are awake in bed next to your girl and can't move or speak. Add to it the fact that it feels like something is holding you in place. You can't push from it or pull from it. Can't speak either. Now when she hears the breathing pattern change she tries to move me and can't. How is it that sleep issues keep someone else from moving you?

Hello everyone!!! Id like to relate a very scary experience I had in 1992. I too have had many sleeping episodes but none come close to this one.
My girlfiend at the times parents were moving from Great Falls Mt. to Helena. I had agreed to help them load and unload their moving van.
That moring I woke up with flu like symptoms.
I worked thru the sickness and actually started feeling better about 5 hours into loading.
Apon arrival at their new house which was an older farm house that the previous owner had died in we started unloading the van.
It started getting dark around 8 pm and we decided to turn in.
I laid my sleeping bag down on the living room floor and laid down to get some shut-eye.
I immediatly fell asleep and started haveing the sensation that something was trying to force its way into my body. As hard as it was forcing its way in, I was forcing it out with my will, I guess. We bacame locked in some sort of spiritual battle for my soul.
The next thing I knew I was being woke up by my GFs mother who was asking me what was going on. Evidently I was screaming during this whole episode.
Im not sure if this was all a combination of me being sick and tired from moving or an attack on a spiritual level, alls I know is that it scarred the stuffing out of me.
Whats even more strange is that I felt the "spirits" intentions for wanting to "posses" me.
Creepy.
The entity was definatly DARK and wanted to get to me to get to my GF. WEIRD.
I never had any more experiences at that house but it always creeped me out being there.
This is one of MANY ghost experiences that I have had.

Hi everyone. Thankyou for replying to my story. I think at the time being I am going to try and just let it not effect me. It sounds like I am suffering from sleep paralysis, although it does feel quite spooky. It is very interesting in hearing about your stories. I shall keep reading them and post a message on my next episode! Thanks for taking time to write a decent description on your encounters!

I've Experience what you call sleep Paralysis quite a number of times, but I believe that doctors call it False awakening! Studying the subject quite intensly, since it is something that does concern me, False awekening happen all the time, and I do not believe that it is due to a spirit, or evil entity. I'm sure all of you can relate to times when you catch yourself falling asleep, and your body kinda jolts you awake, well flase awakenings is just a step further than that! Your body is aready to far gone, but your mind is still half way there. Your eyes can even still be opened, but you will see things that belong to a dream, which would explain the visions that some of you have. You have absolutly no more controle of your body functions, and your heart beat rises uncontrolably, cold sweat and presure in diferent areas is also very frequent. In my case the harder I tried to fight it and try to wake up the harder I was pulled down. The only thing that I found I could do was to just let go. sometimes I would wake up the next morning, and other times I would wake up right after having let go with no spookes around, LOL! When experiencing False Awakings with your eyes oppened you will notice, if you look for it, that there are a few things that are diferent. For instance if you were sleeping in a room where it is very dark you will notice that during the Flse Awakening, you are able to clearly see the room and it's surroundings, and sometimes an element from dream land. Realising that it is just what it is will help you get over your fear, and alow you to let go! I notice that by your coments a few of you are mixing up diferent kinds of experiences! During a false awakeing your body is always frozen! Personally I have never felt the warm presence before hand, but I have seen wierd things that belong to my dreams that freaked me out. What always helped me, was realising that it came from a dream, then I was able to let go.

And same with you "verrallcjv" My father also had the same things happen to him! I hope this helps you!

I have experienced this same event on several occasions while living with a friend in an old farm house. I sleep on my side and would often wake to the feeling of someone or something trying to keep me from moving like it didn't want me to see it. I found this very frightening at first and would often say the lords prayer and it would stop. After this happened repeatedly for a number of nights I finally became so angry with what ever was doing this, that I forced myself to roll over and confront whatever it was. To my surprise right in front of my face was the face, just the face of an elderly woman screaming at me and I qote " WHAT DO I DO NOW". I told her to leave me the ---- alone and go into the light, as I stated I was angry from having my sleep interupted repeatedly. Once I moved from that house I never experienced any thing like it again.

I use to experience those same feelings when living in my old house. I remember them happening to me since I was a little girl and it would happen at least once a month. At first when they first started happening I wasn't scared, but then for some reason I started to also feel frightened when it would happen when I was in high school. I remember one night I woke up feeling half awake half asleep, not being able to move or talk and I felt a presence standing beside my bed. I freaked out and tried to yell for my mother or anyone but I of course couldn't and eventually fell asleep. The next month it happened again and this time I felt like someone was straddling me. I again freaked out but fell asleep after struggling for a little bit. Then one night I woke up with the same feelings described as 'sleep paralysis' and saw someone staring at me. At first I thought it was my mother because my vision was still a little blurry but the image before me looked to be a female with short hair. As my vision cleared up I realized right away that it was not my mother but a young girl who looked very white including her hair staring and smiling at me. I close my eyes and started chanting in my native language. When I opened my eyes again she was gone but then I felt something curl up behind me wrapping their arms around me and then I fell asleep. I talked to my mother the next day and she told me that she had seen a little girl 10 years earlier when we first moved into our house that looked like the girl that I saw. Since then I've moved out to go to college and haven't experienced it since.

I still try to convince myself that it was a dream but after talking to my mother I'm not so sure it was. In asian culture, when this feeling happens to you in your sleep it is believed that it is a ghost holding you down. I'm not sure how to stop it from happening...my mother just told me try to not panic when it does and I usually just start chanting if I ever feel threatened or frightened like that.

i have experienced this on a few occasions. I woke up and I was paralysed. I could feel a buzzing at the base of my neck and I sensed a presence in the room behind me.
i was terrified but I didnt think that the entities were evil at all and I didnt think it was an incubus/succubus. even they didnt think I was sexy :(
what I find interesting is the similarities between my sleep paralysis and other peoples alien abduction stories. many abductees report being paralysed and hearing a buzzing sound that gets louder and louder. and some say that they sense the alien before they actually see it.

maybe alien abductions are just extended versions of sleep paralysis.

Hell it;s been about 4-5 years since I last experienced sleep paralysis. It started when I was 14 or 15 and last for 10 years. Some nights I would experience it one after the other, like I'd awake in fear from one, get up, walk around than go back to bed only to have it happen again, this repeated itself another 2 times. So like in one night I had 4-5 "attacks". The last time I experienced it I had prepared myself to not fear and not try to fight it. What I saw was a tornado about 7-8 feet high about 2-3 feet wide that was buzzing and vibrating more and more as it got closer and it looked like it was made of bees (best description) a whirwind of silver bees. I relaxed and that was the last time. I never reached me it stopped at my door. I'm also pretty sure I am a physical alien abductee due to craft sighting and burn like marks I've received which both have been witnessed by others. So I'm not sure if sleep paralysis is related. Might be on a non physical level, I'm not sure.. Interesting research to read about in regards to all this is Dr. Michael Persinger and his research done in Sudbury Ontario's Laurentian University where systematic application of complex electromagnetic fields were used to discern the patterns that induce experiences (sensed presence) that are attributed to the myriad of ego-alien intrusions which range from gods to aliens. The research is not to demean anyone's religious/mystical experience but instead to determine which portions of the brain or its electromagnetic patterns generate the experience. From my own personal experiences and research into what they all could possibly be I find this guy's research well worthwhile.

One thing that this reminds me of is astral projection from sleep paralysis. This used to happen to me when I would wake up in the morning, do some activity for a few minutes, then go back to sleep. After going back to sleep, I would usually wake up with no feelings b4 hand and just be out of my body in my room, just floating next to my bed. Other times, I would feel a pressure drawing me out of my body, but since I have looked it up, it turns out to just be vibrations on our energy chakras located all over our bodies. This tremendous feeling is what usually comes before a projection for any normal projector. There are plenty of sites for learning more about these feelings and I know this site is about ghost stuff so I wont say anymore.

Also, I would just like to add that I don't buy the sleep paralysis bit. I'm sure that it may apply sometimes, but not always. I was awake through my expeience and very aware of what was going on. My mother was the one who had a similar experience to mine that she related to me after I told her of my own.I wish there was an easy answer for your experiences but there's not. My best theory would be that it IS something evil that's bothering you, maybe it just sounds too crazy to accept.

I had a very similar experience long ago. I was spending the night at my parents house and asleep in my old room when suddenly I was aware of the fact that I was in mid air and holding onto the head board. The thing was my body was still in the bed! I was lying on my back with my eyes closed. There was something behind me pulling me backwards that I couldn't see. I don't know how I got back into my body, but I did. It wasn't over though, I was fully aware and totally awake at this point but something had me pinned to the bed flat and I couln't move. I never saw anything but I could feel it. It was so evil, like pure hate. I know that it was trying to get inside of me but I don't know what kept it out. Finally, I was able to open my eyes and move but even then I could still feel it in the room with me. I have never experienced anything so terrifying in my life. I hope I never go through it again.I also from time to time before this experience happened would feel little tremors on my bed, like my cat was walking across or moving around but it would turn out not to be her.

This sounds like sleep paralysis. I experienced it in graduate school several times and it was always very frightening, especially because I was unable to scream because my mouth was 'frozen'. It was always accompanied by very vivid, unpleasant dreams. But I have experienced a ghost encounter where a hand or fist pressed my head into the pillow, I was awake and it was totally unlike sleep paralysis. It was the same when I saw a ghost. I had no trouble screaming and I almost knocked the lamp over trying to turn it on.

I experienced it in college on 3 occasions.

Exactly as you described it however the pressure holding me down was on my chest since I slept on my back at the time.

In addition to not being able to move I attempted to scream and could not. It's the most terrifying thing I have ever experienced.

It seems to be a fairly common phenomenon that even the medical community has tried to explain as a result of stress and other possible physiological factors. You can usually find out more under the topic headings of sleep paralysis and or "night terrors".

Hello, I have gone a full six years without Sleep PARALYSIS, a.k.a INCUBUS VISITATIONS, and I can honestly say that something more sinister is afoot. I am seriously aggravated with the 'scientific' approach to this phenomena. When I was growing up, the beleif, however superstitious, was that SLEEP PARALYSIS was caused by demons or spirits trying to take possession of a particular persons body. Well, during my experiences with sleep paralysis, some evil entity was always present, always breathing down my neck, cackling or heaving heavily and sitting either on my back or chest. The only good thing was that I couldnt open my eyes. But there was one incident, in california...while I was in college when I opened my eyes a little and came face to face with a balloon-headed entity resembling a GREY alien. It smiled at me first, but then its smile grew until it stretched from one corner of its face to the next and it grew perceptively evil after that.
All I can say with some accuracy is that these experiences are evil, but whether or not they are our brains between sleep, or beings from a nether-realm attempting to steal our physicality, is not something I am so sure about. But it is scary and it is a phenomena that is world wide in consistency and should be given the proper study.
Take care.

Tina
