Fergie,
I am so sorry! I had a really bad feeling that this had happened. I wish there were words to express the sorrow I feel for you and your family. I have kept you in my prayers, and will continue to do so. Please don't worry about my feelings, I am a big girl. You said nothing to hurt me, I assure you. You just take care the best you can. My heart goes out to you friend, and I am here if you need anything.

Jav ❤

Hi Anneke~ The devil on a black horse? That is very interesting! Do you think that was for real, or the affects of a high fever?

To tell you the truth, no, I have never heard the song you mention. Pretty good translation though, and interesting tale to go with it!
Thank you for your comment my friend. ❤

O yes, almost forgot...
My grandmother was once very sick, and had a very high fever. She told me that when she was lying in her bed, she saw the devil on a black horse, riding into her room. She knew he wanted to come for her and she put up a fight. She said that it was the most beautiful man she ever saw, with blue eyes and dark curly hair. After a while, he left again. And she lived to tell the story.

O wow! This story makes me think of the song that Koos Du Plessis sang many years ago. 'Die Pad na Nooitgedacht'. (The road to NeverTought) Weet nie of ek dit nou reg translate nie Fergi?
Do you know this song?
'Op 'n donker aand diep in Julie maand op die pad na Nooitgedacht. Waar drie rotse staan teen die sekelmaan het ek lank gewag die nag. Want 'n skurk van ouds het 'n sak vol goud daar begrawe langs die pad, en elke donker aand met die sekelmaan kom hy terug en soek sy skat.
(On a dark night deep in July, on the road to NeverThought, where three rocks stood in the moonlight, I waited very long that night. Cause a thieve from the past buried a bag of gold somewhere near the road, and every dark night in the moonlight, he comes to claim it back.

This guy heard a story about a robber that buried a bag of gold in the road, a vey long time ago. The robber is long dead, but every moonlid night, he comes back, looking for his gold. And then this guy hides behind a rock to see if it's true. And then he gets the fright of his life when he sees the dark figure on a black horse, trying to dig out his gold. Fire comes out of his eyes as he is searching and in the background you can hear the mouzervuur dreun (gun shots) as the old farmers come to kill this robber. The man behind the rock closes his eyes from shock, but when he opens it again, there is nothing or no one there...
I think it is a BRILLIANT song!

MizM, thank you for your lovely comment.
No, Percy couldn't forget that episode! Not with that hand-print on his face, for the rest of his life!
I am glad that you enjoyed my tale. 😊

Hi Trix, thanks for that. I know you can't please ALL of the people, all of the time! But Who Cares? 😕
I got Norm's/Percy's experience out there that is all that matters to me.
I realize that you have a life to live. Don't worry, this week I am a bit busy too. My 'little' brother, (he is 6ft3in) is here visiting, from New Zealand. ❤

😆 Miracles, I think it was some error with meda1 post. This has to be what he/she ment.

"meda1: fergie, sorry dude this was 2 great for my eyes to see, details were totally awesome, and far from boring.

P.S. Meda1: might I add entertaining?!...uh, yeah!"

meda1 - really? Too much details? Yet, boring and not entertaining? 😆 I'm not sure if I'm understanding you right. Are you suggesting Fergie should have embellished her uncle's story for your entertainment?

Good thing Fergie knows not to pay attention to comments like these. 😉

Hi Hitsugaja, thank you for your comment. I sure as heck, don't want to see this ghost! He sounded extremely irate to me. I would rather stay off of his land. Having a hand-print on my face, for the rest of my life, does NOT appeal to me! 🤔

Hi Trix, what a lovely surprise, to get a comment from you!
Thank you for your kind words. It is always nice to hear from another S. African. I posted a comment, some time ago, on your "Bicycle Light" narrative.
I wonder if this 'ghostie' is still around? I wouldn't even know where to start looking! The Great Karoo is a huge place!
Thanks again for your comment, it is much appreciated.

Jesus soldier, thank you for the compliment.
I agree, for one man to slap another, it is a taunt, or a challenge, is it not? But, I suppose that is not that easy, to punch a guy, when he is on the ground, and you are on horse-back?
Anyway, I am glad that you found humor in the situation. Lol! 😊 I am glad that you enjoyed my tale.

Thanks for the comment.

I agree with the others, simply amazing writing. I couldn't stop laughing when I read that the rider smacked Percy. I would have rather been punched, because a slap from another man is like him saying "look at this coward, I'm going to smack him". Percy had a red hand print on his face too?😆 If I was your Uncle, I would chuckle every time I saw that hand print, like "dude, he smacked you that hard?" I'm sorry for being goofy though, I really enjoyed the story.

Thank you for sharing

Hot Damn Jav! Are you sweet-talkin' me? 😕
But seriously, it does my heart good; if I can relate my experiences, or those of my family, in a manner which people can relate to, I have achieved my goal. 😐
I hope the next experience, will not disappoint you!

Thanks once again, for the lovely comment, you are starting to make me bashful. 😳

Well Fergie, you write in a way that takes the reader along for the ride. As if we were right there with the person experiencing it alongside them. Keep them coming lady! 😁

I am sure, if that had been me, running for my life, I would have done more than just 'wet' myself! Lol.
I am so glad that you enjoyed this narrative. 😊
Thank you so much for your comment ❤

Thank you sacul, for your comment. Personally, haven't run across a similar account, though I am sure, there must be a lot of them out there. What are the chances, that this would be a 'one of a kind' account? Very slim, I am sure! 🤔

Thank you shellzy, for the compliments. 😊
Well, this horseman apparently had his head on, or else, it may have twice as scary for poor ol' Percy! I get the feeling, that he didn't like Percy on his land, one little bit.
I almost wish, we had something that scary to run intruders off OUR land! 🤔
Thank you for your comment.

Great story, you certainly have a way of making it an almost "visual" experience.

Fergie,
Another wonderful narrative! I had a vision playing in my minds eye, of poor Percy running for his life away from the ghostly rider. What a frightening experience. Thank you for bringing another of your family tellings, I enjoyed it very much.

Thanks for the post, Fergie. I like reading your stuff and noting the similarities between your posts and current accounts from others that detail very similar events only years later.

Fergie another great story! When I started reading about the hooves galloping and the see through horesman I automatically thought of tale of the headless horseman in sleepy hollow!

Perhaps this ghost rider did not like Percy being on hs land and gave him a good ol slap to send him on his way!

Thanks for sharing, I always love your stories

😊
