I think seeing shadows may not necessarily means the entities you see are bad, it's probably more due to the energy required to manifest themselves in our reality. When they summon just enough, you get to see shadows, but when they have plenty to throw around, they can manifest as a real apparition, or even move objects around.

Now, how do they acquire that energy, I don't know 😉 it may depend on the people being haunted...
