How did your mother know who they were?

Of course you are Shelby. Buffy and I were talking the other day and she mentioned that she saw in the comments where someone refered to us as the Three Musketeers and it has been a running joke ever since. It was when you were sick so I guess you missed those comments, sorry. I wouldn`t dare open those doors without the other two musketeers - I`d have to have someone else to blame πŸ˜†.

Hello again WB. Now that we agree that the ouija board isn`t the only dangerous thing, I`ll give my view on talking to the spirits already present. You are right in saying there is a difference. Using another allegory, it is like moving into a abused and neglected house. You have to clean up and repair the neglect and abuse of others in order to make the house safe and livable for your family. Even though you didn`t cause it, you are forced to clean up someone else`s mess. You use whatever tools available no matter the risk, because the house is taking it`s rage out on you and your family.

Oh, I definitely agree. Sometimes I word things a bit softer or harsher than what I intend, so I was VERY careful while typing that, but I guess I may have fogged up something there.
I think anything that can cause interaction with the spirit world is just as dangerous as the next. I think when inexperienced people test things, they are actually the ones who ultimately get tested.
Take my life for example. When I first started seeing things here recently, I continued on with the same kind of things I was using to battle them BEFORE I actually saw them. I would walk into the house and tell... Whatever that nothing would harm my children, and nothing was to scare them. Now, as I stand facing them (as I can now see some of them) I wonder at the wisdom of it as some do not look kind. I put MYSELF in danger every time I take the "battle stance", as my husband calls it, as I do not know what the outcome will be.
In my opinion, that is as dangerous, if not more than sitting at our trap door. As THAT door IS open.

Hello Shelby and WB. I moved the discussion again so we won`t have to keep on apologising to Allison.
Shelby, what I called crystal gazing is the same thing as a crystal ball that some psychics use, a form of scrying. I truly don`t know if they all fall in the same catagory or not. I have always felt that it was akin to praying a prayer without addressing whom you was praying to - you don`t know who is listening or whom will answer.
WB, I`ll have to submit to the talking to the spirits already present, point well taken. I seem to get the impression that you think that I think the board isn`t dangerous. I do believe it is but I also believe there are other mediums just as dangerous to the untrained dabblers into the vast unknown areas of the paranormal.OK, me, you and the other Musketeer are sitting in the living room of life around the locked trapdoor. We hold in our hands a ring of keys, each key on this ring has the capability of unlocking that door. We blindfold ourselves(no peeking Shelby), choose a key and unlock that door- not knowing what's on the other side. While our actions were dangerous and stupid, it didn`t matter which key we used, it was the fact that the door was opened. One key isn`t anymore dangerous than the other if they all open the same door.
All I was trying to say is we need to round up ALL the keys and keep them safe and if we have a need to see the other side then find a window to look through.

FRAWIN 😊 ❀ 😊

Well rounded, yeah. I like that. I have always been called a risk taker and have never been accused of taking the easily traveled road. I have gained much, but I have also lost a lot. If we can not face our fears, life is just a cardboard box that we store ourselves in, and throw up in the rafters of the garage. If we can not take risks, well, then why are we here? The fear of the unknown is ALWAYS the worst fear.

Oh I see, it`s a thrill seeking game. I guess there`s a variation of that about anywhere you go. I have never played it before but we used to ride car hoods pulled behind pickup trucks down country roads or in wide open fields. One is about as dumb as the other, thank goodness we had someone "upstairs" looking out for us. Take care.

Hi FRAWIN. Sorry, I got a bit distracted over there on another page 😊. Imagine that, right?
Crows nest is a dangerous game that we used to play out on old country roads that were not traveled well. The wild thing is that I found out in the chat room that they have put this game in a movie! I never imagined that something we would do would make it on the big screen! I forget the name of the movie though, and I was going to look for it too, to see if they did it right.πŸ˜†
You wrap a belt or rope around the window frames of the front seat of your car (of course the windows are down), climb out the window from the passenger side, grab both belts or ropes so that you can hang on tight (as you can with both arms outstretched) and fly as fast down the road as you can while trying to hold on. You seat tends to get a bit sore from bouncing on the metal hood, but...
It is very dangerous and I would not recommend that anyone would try it. I was "no stranger to the wind" apparently and danger seemed to call out for me as a child. When I was younger I would even ride my bike down the center of the road without a helmet on and drink out of our garden hose! I am here to tell you, I was CRAZY!
Oh, wait a minute. I guess I still am. πŸ˜‰

If you live near a body of water does it fog a lot?
If it doesn't the ghost must have something to do with it

Hi York.
I trust your brothers are doing well? I do so pray that they are. We give so little thought to our boys and girls in the service, both here and abroad, it seems until something hits the news and then we seem to remember how honored we are to have such people on our walls.
I do not live by any major body of water, no. I do not even have a wading pool anywhere in my neighborhood. But then again it is winter and most people would have taken them indoors by now.

Hi Yorkster, all those questions will be answered if you just double click on my name there.
1. Yep, fog
2. Don't know about the temp, it was OUTSIDE the house and I was in running around trying to see what it was.
3. Yep, I do see Shadows. Not today though.
4. Yep, hear noises too. Music, laughter, singing, speaking. I am the poster child for audio hallucinations.

All bound up in one small package of Black eyed, mystery.

OOO, that sounds like a bit of a quote, there FRAWIN. My word is my bond too. πŸ˜‰

This rolling fog happens in the late afternoon or the early evening. Today it was around 230 or so, I think. The hubby was not yet home from work, so that may be right. I was so into checking it out that I forgot to look at the clock. I walked to the sliding door and looked out and it was all about the porch. I grabbed the camera and tried for some photo's, but do not know yet. Then looked out the back door, out the kitchen window and the family room window. There was no kind of anything there, so I guess that could be one that hasn't enough energy to materialize... Never saw much of anything before. No wonder the kids run around looking at things... Thanks Amigo.

* See, I thought we were the Three Amigos, but I guess Musketeers are ok. Are they the one's that wear mouse ears?

fog?
Hmmm...
I was a scientist,
I'd say GHOST!
Is it cold on one area and hot on the others?
Do you see shadows?
Hear freaky noises?
That's my opinion
Wonderful question
FRAWIN (guest)

16 years ago (2008-01-12)
Hello WB, I couldn`t say for positive what the fog is but I will venture a guess. If I were guessing I would say it was a "weak" ghost or spirit. By this I mean one that doesn`t have the energy to materialize fully, something like a shadow person. Contrary to hollywood fantasies, I wouldn`t automatically consider it as evil or malicious. Shelby may have a better take on this considering her experiences are different from mine.
So someone has called us The Three Musketeers 😊, so which one am I, Moe, Larry or Curly... Uh wait a minute, I think I`m thinking of the wrong three πŸ˜†.

To yorkster1234 : Thank you for your comments and yes the story is true. The ones on this site that know me, knows that I only print the truth. I amoung others, view this site for what it was set up to be, a place to tell your TRUE paranormal experiences and to recieve feedback and support from people who are going through or have gone through similiar incidents. It goes without saying that not all the stories printed here are true, you will have some that has been embellished and some that are outright fantasy that belong on a fiction website. You have some people that prints stories here with the intent of trying to pull something over on us and set back and laugh. After you have been here for a while you will learn that it is extremely hard to do, there is some very knowledgeable people on this site. I believe that I can speak for the majority of the "old heads" here when I say that our word is our bond and we would never put our name on a true story, if in fact it wasn`t.
Well sermons over, pass the plate and let`s go home.

I'll tell you, when it comes to texting, my daughter must be part of the "Royal Family of Text Messengers" that girl can text like no other! If I need to send a text (some of my friends will text instead of call just in case I am with a client) and she is around, I just tell her what to say. Another reason I would like to see a forum is, I use the "hunt and peck" method of typing and I can`t keep up in chatrooms, they go too fast. Also they use that internet talk like texting and I`m too durn old to learn a new language πŸ˜†. Matbe if enough people ask for it, they will consider putting one in.

oooh, oooh, love the idea! A forum would be great. Sometimes I spend so much time looking at the left of the screen trying to catch someone on here, and if Shane does not specifically say he is heading over there, I miss out on the chat room. I go in there a lot, but there does not seem to be many people in there at all, even if you do delicately invite them πŸ˜‰ (I tried to save her, she just didn't want to listen)
Plus! The one day that I was in there, but still having problems with it, I was accidentally involved in a conversation that seemed to be led by someone much younger than the appropriate age for this site. No offence meant, but who cares what color a rock star dyes their hair?

The Fun Has Arrived! Hi FRAWIN and Shelby. Nice place to hang out!

Yep. FRAWIN nailed it there. While our bodies are in the sick state, or on the road to recovery, I think it is highly likely that you would have all of these extra symptoms to your illness.
I work as an in home companion and most of the people that I see on a daily basis who are ill seem to have a load of experiences, sometimes they can be directly related to medications, others there is no reasons for.
I must ask you, what kind of visions are you having? I believe very heavily in visions. But the type you have can say a lot about what is going on inside of you.
I say your flashing lights are (Sorry, I know there are other words and phrases that apply better, but at the time they elude me 😳) Asgaya Gigagei and her helpers. In my belief system, she was one of two beings. One being a protector and healer, in other stories she was a Thunder Being of the West. She brings the rains and the blessings. I would say if you are in the process of sorting through some visions, maybe an Anglo version of her is around. I do not know for certain, however, but I would think there would be. Any who: that would explain the flashing lights in my mind.
Visions are a gift from the Gods. They tell stories, send warnings and are messages of love and support. When we come of age (around the age of 12 or 13, depending when womanhood comes in our sleep) we are sent out on our own for five days of no food to seek out our life vision. Once we have this vision, everything that we have learned and the direction of our life up to this point are basically thought of as our toddler years. Everything we learn from there on out has to do with our vision seen during our vision quest. We have to be very careful so that we know that what we saw was indeed a vision, or the rest of our life we will spend in following a path that was not mapped out by the Great Spirit.
There really is a lot more to it than that, and the explanation there is a bit shaky, but it is a tradition, a custom, and seeing how there are so few of us left, very important.

One other thing that I meant to say in the last post. I think it would be a good idea if Martin replaced the chat room, which few if anybody uses, with a forum. That way people could converse about topics not pertaining to the story at hand or worry about taking someone else`s comment space. This way you wouldn`t have to catch someone online the same time you are to talk with them. Also if he didn`t want to replace the chat room, just add a forum kind of like GhostMysteries has. Just a suggestion Martin, I really love this site- you couldn`t chase me away. 😊

Hello Shelby and Buffy. I moved the conversation to one of my stories so that I don`t feel like we are "swiping" comment space from someone else`s story. Even with how I feel about the GH show, I still feel they are on the level unlike PS. I am sure that they were plumbers that ghost hunted as a hobby but when they had a hit show they had to give something up. I just think that it would add more credibility to the show if they were more upfront and honest about the obivious.
Now on to other questions. Yes I have seen the Ghost Adventures and I had mixed emotions about it. On one side I found it to be fairly interesting but on the other hand he did some things that a true ghost hunter would never do. What I`m refering to is when he got scared and run and jumped off the 2nd story fire escape after being locked in that building overnight. Think what Jason and Grant would say πŸ˜† ?
Yes Shelby, I think with you being sick and all has a lot to do with being more open. I believe that you are using "energy" that you normally use to shield yourself with to heal the body. That plus the rx medicine and the quitened environment has left you open to the visions. The "fireflies" in my opinion(and I`m no expert) are guardian spirits sent to, as Buffy would say, fight/protect those who can fight for themselves. In your weakened condition you were too open and I think the lights were there for your protection. The reason for my thinking this is that everytime that I have one of my bouts with Depression, I see the lights. Buffy may have other views on this.

One more thing. Even though I pick at you and Buffy about different things, I want you all to know that I hold your views and opinions in high regard. Even though we have never met and probably never will I consider you as online friends and will never intentionally hurt your feelings.
Take Care My Friends.

Hi FRAWIN and Buffy! I definitely agree with you about Ghost Hunters and Paranormal State. Yea, Paranormal State is alright to watch and all but sometimes a little silly too. It's like watching that old show "Goosebumps" but a little more scarier. AND, every single time they go somewhere (to someone's home), something always happens. Too fake if you ask me. Hello Shelby and Buffy πŸ˜‰. I have watched both shows and I prefer Ghost Hunters. The problem I have with Paranormal
State is the demon that is supposed to be following Ryan(head honcho) around. (I believe like Shane says, that demonic attacks are few and far between.) If you have a demon that is so powerful that you can not say it`s name out loud, why in the name of everything that`s holy is it after a baby-faced college kid who fancies himself a ghostbuster. Do you not think that it has bigger fish to fry, like the Pope or at least one of them short fat Southern Baptist televanglist preachers πŸ˜†. The Ghost Hunters I like for several reasons, the most important one is they don`t always find a ghost. I like how they try to find rational explanations for what people hear and see, while remaining open to the paranormal. I will take Jason and Grant over Paranormal State, even if I don`t believe that they still upstops commodes for Roto Rooter as a day job.
Yes, it would be fun and exciting if we could all investgate together. Each one of us has had experiences that we can`t explain, each of us has our own perspective
on the paranormal, yet we are willing to compromise to reach a conclusion. We could form a team that would make the other "Ghostbusters" turn green with envy.
Take Care My Friends.

Hi Shelby.
Hello FRAWIN.
I have a problem trying to figure out Paranormal State. Sure, it is supposed to be a investigative show much like Ghost Hunters, but it seems like every investigation that they do ends up with some connection to the one guy.
Sorry, it being a new show, I have not familiarized myself with the names yet. He has this demon following him around, right? If he is such a talented hunter and free-er (I am starting to make up words too, thanks Kids!) why is he still having the issues with his own demons? That was not intended to be a pun, but, so be it.
I just do not get why every episode revolves around him. I think I will stick to me Ghost Hunters. 😊

Hello mustang, may I call you Shelby?
OK here`s how it went. The first time we met, when we were 10 to 15 feet apart, we exchanged greetings, as is the custom in "our neck of the woods..." We nodded our heads(in a positive fashion) and said something like "Hi, how you doing" and he nodded likewise and mumbled something we couldn`t understand but we thought nothing of it because a lot of hill folk mumbles.
When we saw him the second time, we knew something wasn`t right so we cut him a wide berth and didn`t speak or nod and neither did he.
As far as seeing him again, it is quite possible because the road he has been seen on runs right by the old homeplace and I`m over there just about every Sunday(another old hill custom.) I believe that I have enough courage to confront him if we should ever meet again. Take Care My Friend.

Hey FRAWIN! So, you didn't speak to him? And he didn't speak to you and your brother directly. As in respond at the same moment as when you or your brother spoke? Well, that could be either coincidental that he muttered words right after you spoke, he was speaking to you and your brother OR it is residual and he always mutters something. Did he acknowledge you or not? πŸ˜• It makes it or breaks it! The story that is. We want to try to find somewhat of an explaination to your experience.
And, NO my friend, I don't think that you are dumb for wanting to find the truth! I think that you are older and much braver, like me! 😊

Later Gator!

Hello Whitebuffalo, thanks for the comment.
If I could rewrite the story I would put in more detail but since this was my first attempt at story writing, you all will have to forgive me. I thought that I had said that on the first sighting he muttered an acknowledgement but on the second we didn`t speak. After rereading my story I seen that I left the second part out, I apologise. This is why I don`t think it was residual, because of the visual sighting, he was aware of us by his acknowledging us when we spoke. We couldn`t understand what he said because he was mumbling. The second passing we didn`t speak and neither did he, but we did cut him a wide berth. I would imagine that the reason my bother said not to make eye contact was because there is a saying in the hills not to look a "specter" in the eye because they could possess you.

UPDATE: I done some asking around and found out that the others in my family that has seen this "man", each saw him in a different location. My other brother saw him at the mouth of Prudential, my brother and I saw him at the head of Prudential, my nephew saw him in Silas Hollow which is off of Prudential and my Dad saw him at Phillips Flats. All these locations is basically on the same road, within 10 miles of each other.

I was going to say that this might be a residual haunting, but in the ones that I know about, and I am just going by hearsay (Yes, I am saying I could be wrong) there does not appear to be sound, yet you heard this man walking down the street. Then he acknowledged your greeting, a bit hermit like, but he did respond.
I have the same questions as you at the end of your story. Why did your brother tell you not to look him in the eye? What did he know that we do not?
I feel like an idiot, I just started reading through some of the other comments, and just about everything I just wrote had been addressed in them. I am sorry, I do not mean to repeat what you have already read, this story is just so interesting. I think you should ask him next time you see him who he is and where is he walking?
Sorry for repeating what others have said, this is a great story.

Hi mustang, thank you. The reason I`m thanking you is that you are about the only one that has commented on this story that doesn`t think it`s residual. I personally do not believe it to be residual because it has been seen by at least five different people in different locations on basically the same road. I don`t know what these entities are but one thing is for sure -if I see him again I`m going to ASK him who in the Sam Hill he is. I am either a whole lot braver than I used to be or dumber one. πŸ˜†

Hi FRAWIN. I would have been JUST a little frightened to see this man coming up to you in the coat and a brimmed hat where you couldn't see his face. But, then to see it repeat itself! 😨 WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! I would have considered it to be residual but you're right, they don't even know that your there and this entity responded back to you. You know, in my shadow man experiences, he always wore a black coat and a black brimmed hat. It was in mostly darkness so I wonder if it was a shadow person at all. It was always in full form. Not like a shadow on the wall or anything. Maybe he looked totally black because it was in a dark room with only the moonlight shining through the blinds. When my husband was in his late twenties, I believe, he was at work in a warehouse, I think it was a warehouse, and he said he saw this cloaked figure, old-timey looking, with a brimmed hat coming towards him. His first instinct was to swing his fist at this thing but it disappeared. I would really LOVE to know who this or these entities with the black coat and black brimmed hat are! I enjoyed your story. ~Shelby ❀ 😊

Hi Chris,
It was a bit unnerving. I know quite a bit of the history but not enough to make a guess at who this guy was. If I am lucky/unlucky enough to meet this "man" again I will ask him who he is or was. I, for now will concede to everyone`s opinion (whom I respect highly) that he was a residual until I can prove otherwise.
I am currently working on a collection of experiences from Prudential, I just have to talk to a few more people first.

Hi Fawin. That must have been scary. I wish you had more information on what that was. I bet it wuld give you more peace. I to agree that this was a residual haunting. But this was something very wierd. Well I hope you find some more stories to tell. It sounds like Prudential Hollow is a very haunted place. Maybe you have heard of others talking about ghost walking those lands. By the way great story my friend. I just can't wait until you post another. I hope to hear from you soon and take care

I would like to apologise to all who have posted a comment for not answering back. My computer crashed and I haven`t gotten it fixed yet. I am on the computer at the libarary, so I have to hurry.
To Bellissima: The best I can figure is that in the hills of Tn. Where I live is an old saying/old wives tale is that you don`t look an other-worldly being in the eyes lest it takes control of you.
As for it being a residual haunting, it could be but I always thought a residual couldn`t acknowledge you. This thing spoke the first time but not the second.
Again I apologise for the delay, I hope to be back on line by the first of the month

Great story, Farwin. Do look into the history of the place. I agree with everyone Else's theory in it being a residual haunting. I'd love to hear about anything that you may find out.

Hi, FRAWIN. That was a great story. I agree with Shane. Check out the history of the place and I bet you'll find out some interesting facts to do with what you and your brother saw that day. I wonder why your brother told you not to look into his eyes? Did he know something that you didn't? Thanks for the story, it was really interesting! Welcome to Your Ghost Stories, can't wait for more!

Shane, I agree with your theory about this being a residual haunting. If not, maybe it's a spirit that is aware of what it's doing, trying to initiate contact, or just playing a game with them. Interesting story.

That is a really cool story and I believe all of it due to the details and air of genuine integrity. I'm curious as to why your brother told you not to look in his eye. Have you ever asked him about that? I'd be very interested to know.

Thanks!

Frawin, sounds like you experienced a residual haunting. One that just keeps playing over and over. Nothing would have happened to you. Except maybe a little more frightening experience, but you were not in any danger I am sure. Look into the history of the area in which you spotted this spirit and see if you can find out anything. Sometimes when a very sudden or tragic death occurs then that energy is imprinted on the environment and when conditions are right they begin to play. Please if you do find out anything, let us know.

Peace, Love, and Luck be with you.
