Dear Val, wonderful experience you shared with us and it went to my favs straightaway.

I was just thinking, because you didn't experience anything when you were working 'solo' after Lori went out, your explanation that the spirit might have been feeling guilty is quite logical. But, would it have been that Lori was in someway attracting the spirit? Just a thought.

Regards and respects to you.

This is actually a pretty nice story... Not as gloomy as most of the stories here (not that I don't like reading them), I actually think the spirit tried helping the two of you. Poor Lori ๐Ÿ˜•

Poor Lori... Hahaha, I could just picture her flying out of that house.
I always read but rarely comment. I love this one.

Thanks.

Good Lord! I would have been standing in a self made pool of water!
You have such a great style that gives the impression you're reading something from a friend - another one for favourites ๐Ÿ˜ thanks for sharing all your experiences, L:)

Wonderful story, Val! You always include enough details to make us feel that we're in the house with you:)

BGP and Red,
Thanks for reading and commenting! Lori and I had been friends for years up until her death 2 years ago. We were the kind of friends that can tell each other anything without fear of judgement. However, every time I'd bring up the Prairie Street house, she'd say the same thing, "Shut up, Val!" lol Yes, she did think me certifiable for returning there and *gasp* working alone!

Val,
Another great story, it went right into my favs. I could just picture Lori hightailing it out of there with you barely in the front seat. ๐Ÿ˜† She probably thought you were crazy for going back. ๐Ÿ˜†
Regards

Great account Val! Did you have the opportunity to talk to Lori about any of this after she quit?

I'm in agreement with the others. Too few and far between! ๐Ÿ˜†

Thanks for your reply! I'm sure they didn't want to mention any strange goings on in case you scarpered like Lori and didn't come back!

Natters,
Actually, after we were hired, we rarely saw the owners. Every now and then, I might find a note or get a call asking if I'd seen or if I'd watch for something that had disappeared. Thankfully nothing of theirs ever went 'else where' on the day I was there cleaning. So I never caught any blame.

ashar, Darkangel, and OC,
Thanks for reading and commenting.
LOL OC, I often wonder if I'd have been disappointed if it hadn't been haunted! Seriously, we have lots of houses that are 100+ years old where I live (many not so grand looking) and you'd be surprised how many aren't haunted.

Great story! Did the owners ever divulge anything that had happened to them whilst they had lived there?

Miracles,
Yeah, that baby really bothered me, sometimes I'd just have to shed a few tears for the poor thing. But other things in that room were really fascinating. It really was like being in a museum of sorts. He did have a couple of locked 'no touching' glass cases. Those items were probably incredibly fragile with age or valuable. I'm just glad he didn't have any taxidermied animals - those things really freak me out!

Tweed and Wish-Not,
The owners only left me with the impression that they had a hard time retaining help ๐Ÿ˜†. But I liked it there, and the ghosties never bothered me any.
The feeling I got from most of them was that they 'belonged'. In it's hay-day, they probably had several servants, maybe even a live-in or two. Back then it wasn't unusual if happy with their situation, for help to remain with a family until retirement or death.
I'm glad you both enjoyed this.

Very cool story! I felt like I could see the house the way you described it. In a home that old, how can there NOT be any ghosties?

Thanks for sharing!

The spirits never tried to harm you all. It was as if they were just following their daily routine as we all did and neither they had any tendency of terrorizing you all. Its our tendency to get freaked out when we notice something unexplainable.

Thanks for sharing. ๐Ÿ˜Š

val - darn, lots of emotions ran through me when I read this one. When I got to the baby part, I almost couldn't finish reading it. I understand people have jobs to do, but wow ๐Ÿ˜ญ

I honestly loved this ๐Ÿ˜Š Thank you for sharing it.

'Too few and far between', I believe it is Wish-Not ๐Ÿ˜†

Oh Val, what a remarkable house! What a joy it would be for you and the homeowners to chew the fat about all the unexpected comings and goings in this home.
Did you ever get the impression some of these ghosties were former servants? They seemed to identify with your activities, and I wondered if on the first day one of them was showing you how 'someone' liked her clothes set out.
I love how they put the radio on for you!

Thanks for sharing, always love reading your experiences! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Love it Val! So good to read another story of yours! Too far and in between, think that's how one writes that. ๐Ÿ˜†
