When I heard the first twig snap or the first low growl, I probably would have made short work of the 5 miles back to the vehicle. I applaud you and your friends for staying the entire night.

At the beginning of your story you indicate this area is known for the legend of the Yowie. Do you believe it possible that a Yowie is what you encountered?

Your story scared me because me and my hubby go 4x4ing all the time and sleep in deserted places sometimes. 😨 My son is a roadie too! ❤

Thanks Aussie. I love to hear about your adventures. Bigfoot, Yowie, Sasquatch,...they're all from the same tree, different branches. I hope someday to see one (from a distance of course)!

To be bloody honest, it really put the fear of whatever in us that night and WE were NOT going to go hiking back out, especially when it's in summer and there's snakes about. We don't have Big Foot but his cousin called The Yowie. I haven't a clue what we saw that night.

OMG! I cannot believe that you actually stayed there after that! I would have hot tailed it out of there so fast.
Maybe it was bigfoot? There has been sightings of him 😉

Thats a crazy story! I can't believe you guys were brave enough to stay there the rest of the night. Then again, I suppose it is dangerous to hike at night in the bush. Thank you for sharing your incredible experience!
