Reading about the Ghost of Mrs. Penchant slapping/pinching Mitch reminded me of an incident, when my mom, my sister & myself were praying our evening prayers and suddenly my mom moves violently as if someone slapped her.

She was quite surprised and told us that she physically felt the slap.

Her reasoning was that either Jesus or Mother Mary had slapped her for some sin she had committed.

Who knows?

😆 Oh my! That IS funny! Although after a hard day at work, I could use a good dusting. 😆
I probably shouldn't speak ill of her (she too has also passed) but in her adult years she did end up committed for awhile. So, you aren't far off on that call.
If anyone is trying to keep track, I'll save you some math; out of us 8 siblings only 3 of us (possibly 4) are still standing; 1 of the twins (18 years my senior), my youngest brother (by 5 years) and myself.

Val I'm sat here with a cheeky smile. Urgh your sister sounds like she was headed into an adulthood of psycho b****!
I think it's pretty likely that dog has some kind of energy within it. A ghost that has enough will/energy to interact with the three of you that day, assuming it was Mrs Penchant, the act of giving you the dog maybe instilled some form of protective vibes into the dog. I think that makes sense, I hope so! Sort of like how some spells work, or something of a talisman.

The dusting moment was pretty funny. That table has crystals, dried flowers and various ornaments. So it was like 'vase, elephant, crystals, pampas grass, dog, Val, oil burner, pussywillow, hang on what...Val?' 😆

Tweed,
Your comment made me smile. How cool is that about your dusting the puppy and I popped into your head?
How I treasure that wee bit of ceramic pup! The only thing I know for sure is he's well over 50 years old, and has been with me on many, many travels. I wonder if there's a special 'spell' or attribute the paranormal places over some items, because when I think of some of the stuff we went through it's a miracle it's still intact - no cracks, chips or anything like that. Or being so small (barely 2 inches) lost along the way.
I will tell you something truly weird. A 'rule' of my father's was pretty much if I had something and my kid sister wanted it, I had to let her have it. Somehow I NEVER got things back in one piece if at all. She of course wanted my puppy, and I said no, but she went crying to Dad, who of course demanded I give it to her and to come get a 'lesson in sharing'. So, I do as I'm told leaving her with the puppy in her hand and go into the living room for my 'lesson'. The belt is raised high, and I'm waiting for its stinging bite, when she runs in shrieking that it 'growled' at her, and she was sure it was going to bite her. In the confusion that followed the 'lesson' was forgotten. Did the ceramic puppy really growl at her? (I'd like to think so, because she was such a brat, but I NEVER heard anything from it.) Was she moved by some rare instance of remorse that I was going to get another beating because of her and invented the whole thing? Maybe but doubtful, as she was always a bit of a sadist. Seriously, she'd go to great lengths to get me into trouble and as we got older she got worse. I don't know. But apparently that ceramic pup saved me from a beating.

Thanks, guys. I'm actually ok over my brothers - sort of, if you know what I mean. Kev had contracted the same illnesses that took our Mom, so we knew it was only a matter of time. We had talked on the phone just the day before, so we had our goodbye. Funny (weird) they both went just 3 months before their 63rd birthday.
With Mitch... I do wonder, but the not knowing might be a good thing. Not a 'nice' guy.
So, I concentrate on the past, back to when we were kids, and sometimes I wasn't the pesky kid sister but a cohort in adventures, that only the closest friends have.

I'm so very sorry about your brothers, Val. I lost my brother a few years ago. The grief never eases...

Val, I'm really sorry to hear about your loss. 😢 I'd like to say I hope you get answers about Mitch one day, or maybe not knowing is a blessing, I'm not sure. Either way that's rough. ❤

I got a nice buzz reading about this abandoned house and it's resident. About a week ago I was dusting (truly a happening). I picking up a little dog ornament off the table. When I did I thought of you for some reason. I guess this post is why. I'm so happy you've still got the little dog. A very special gift indeed.😊 It's great reading about a ghostly gift that isn't thrown away, or burned or the rest. You know how it usually goes on here!

Val - Thanks for your response.

I'm really sorry to hear about your brothers. It must be heartbreaking not knowing what happened to Mitch 😢

Melda,
To my knowledge the boys never went back to that house, and I know I certainly didn't, although we did go exploring in the woods several other times.
This is one of the special memories I have of growing up with my brothers. Sadly, Kevin passed away last November, and Mitch, well he's been missing nearly 30 years.

Val - I really enjoyed reading that, it is so typical of a group of kids!

What you thought was a little spank on the bum to get you moving, could very likely have been Ms Penchant putting the little ceramic puppy in your pocket. I'm sticking with that because I like it 😆 don't care whether anybody thinks otherwise!

I take it you never went back there again?

Regards, Melda
