Are you certain it is not a family member or friend? You do not mention looking to see if there is an individual actually doing the sweeping.

Well, a ghost that sweeps your garden can't possibly be that bad. It probably taps your window because it wants something in return, after all, who sweeps willingly and without expecting some kind of pay?

Thanks for the story, I would say that it could be the gardener that was once there. As for the tapping, I don't know. That was just my opinion. 😊
