Unexpected Messages From Loved Ones

It's been a longtime away from the site, just busy but I'm now officially an empty nester and had some extra time to catch up with you all here.

I wanted to document two recent instances of EVPs that just happened unexpectedly, plus something related to the empty nester thing.

First, I was videoing some birds gathering in a tree in my back yard in early spring. They were making a ton of noise eating on the berries and I thought to send the video to my husband at work so walked out to record them. On the way back inside, as it was cold, I yet again didn't tap the off button properly to turn off the video recording (I'm so bad with my phone) so ended up with footage of the birds and the ground as I was walking back inside. But upon playback, as I'm crossing the patio, one can hear a fairly obvious EVP of a voice saying, "OOH RAH," which is what U.S. Marines say... All the dang time. My late husband Scott was a Marine (as is my current husband). If current husband had been in the house, I might conclude the voice was his, but this morning he was already AT WORK. I can't imagine any of my elderly neighbors hollering like a Marine, so I'm left thinking it was Scott, yet again finding a way to be heard on a random day. He died from brain cancer in 1993 at age 32.

Then, last week, went to visit family graves at the cemetery where my aunt was recently interred. Scott's plot is just across the small interior street from my mom's. You can stand at mom's grave and see his and vice versa. Anyway, I decided to record as I walked up, because last time I was there I got an EVP. This visit, a woman's voice on video says, "It's a woman" as I'm walking to the gravesite. I stand there a minute and look over to Scott's grave and pretty sure there was a tear falling as I walked back down a slight hill to my car. The same woman's voice says, "It's ok" on my video recording. Easily heard, much appreciated.

Finally, Mom had given me a silver bracelet at the time of her diagnoses with cancer in 2013. I'm not much for jewelry, but I wore this bracelet every day. Sometime at the beginning of the covid lockdown, I lost it. Obviously not going anywhere, but it just sort of disappeared and over the last four years I've looked everywhere and yes, it did cross my mind that it was significantly from my mom.

Well, I have four kids and the last of them graduated from high school this spring. I've been raising kids 36 years and am 64 now, so it's going to be great as these last two finish college and join their siblings in adulthood. We had a large graduation party and that day I went into the closet where Mom's china (she left me) is kept to get a platter. I had to move a silver gravy boat out of the way to get to it and guess what just happened to be in the gravy boat? Right -- Mom's silver bracelet! Found on the day of the last kid's graduation, an occasion I know Mom would've loved. There is NO reason for that bracelet to have been there these last four years! I can't help but think it was yet another message from Mom.

Tweed, yes.
It's surprising. Maybe she just stays with me.
The thing is, we all like to believe that kind of thing, and I figure what do I have to lose by staying open to it? In the end, we won't know FOR SURE until it's our turn. I do accept that, and in the meantime it's just something I try to be aware of while also staying cautious.

Meanwhile, I wouldn't go "ghost hunting" in an old prison, ever. People who underestimate the evil in this world are just asking for trouble.

omg is your dog resting on the ground under that tree? I think I know what you're referring to. I can see a (blurry) boarder collie looking dog looking towards you resting like this under the tree:

Two links incase one borks.

This is a fascinating, amazing topic and going on regular deep dives into it is the CORRECT response. Who cares if you get it wrong sometimes. This is how discoveries are made. People who underreact to this stuff are missing out.

Again, one more thing, sorry. I should not close out my comment without thinking.

When I have a video of something I suspect is paranormal, I slow it down. I also take screen shots, and sometimes I open the photo in some program (I don't know which it came with the computer) and try upping the brightness or the contrast or the sharpness to see if it makes a difference in the image. Many times, especially if it's shadows, you can see better. None of the ghosty things I watch ever show how to do that, so I just had to study myself and I'm still not very good at it. I can save a pic and then not be able to find it on my computer ever again!

Thanks KenS.
Just showed my daughter and her boyfriend the video. They laughed until they realized they could see the dog. Is the reaction when people see but don't want to see a type of cognitive dissonance, I wonder? It's almost upsetting to them (of course this was her dog that died and she misses, but it makes me happy to know they're still with us).

Tweed, yes. I can actually see more than one face and I don't think it's paradoilia (or spelling?), but it's sort of over the top of the shady area by the last tree by the street. I can see my dog Callie's face, just inside the shady area, with her hind side just to the right of the tree trunk. She was a husky/border collie mix.

I just told my 18 year old and her boyfriend and they're giving me so much grief. I'm like, "get over here and I'll show you."

Pelatiah, that's so cool you can see your dog! Which is the tree which has the mist at around 5:50?
Actually I think I know what you mean there's a weird mass on the grass to the left just before the voice happens. Is that what you mean?

I really enjoyed it.

Hi Tweed,
YES! I went back and with my BEATS (cheaper) earphones I can hear what you heard also.

And then when I went back and got a screenshot of 5:57 and saved it to my computer, I could see there was a lot going on in the shady area of that tree (the blurry stuff where you should be able to see blades of grass, but you can't). Believe it or not, when I manipulated the shadow and light on the clip and made it larger, I realized that it wasn't a person I could see, but it looks like my dog, the one who died last November. Was she with me at the cemetery? Was the voice saying I'm Sorry to the dog? It was the last thing I would expect. At some point, you're just not quite sure, but it sure looks like her! Thanks to you all for helping me find the EVPs but also for affirming my observations. It's nice to know I'm NOT the only one who sees, hears or cares. It's just compelling to me.

Pelatiah, wow I was not expecting this to be so clear! I'm totally blown away at how clearly these are captured. Ooh Rah indeed! I got the impression your dog was barking at something beyond you as you were walking in. But I don't know what direction your dog was facing, it was just a feeling I got while watching.
On the second video I'm hearing "That tree" at 3:06 which is interesting as it's right when you passed by a tree. Then at 5:54 I hear "Sorry". There are some other voices at various points but no words I can make out. The thing about "That tree" and "Sorry" is I hear an English or Australian accent. I may be bias because I'm Australian so maybe I'm hearing what I'm used to hearing. Anyway I heard it through some Mackie closed back over ear headphones that cost an embarrassing amount of money but I love my music so they're worth it to me lol.
Thanks for sharing these great captures. 😊
Oh and the "Sorry" sounded to me like someone was excusing themselves after bumping into someone, possibly you? "That tree" sounded to me like someone was pointing something out and they both sound like the same voice to me.

It's just their way of saying that they are around and watching over you, some bonds are so deep that it lasts even beyond death.

Pelatiah,

While I don't see the mist (I may be looking in the wrong place), that triple-tap sound is loud and distinct. Initially, I had presumed that it was you setting down something you were holding; however, as you state that it was not you, it is an interesting addition to the video.

Best,
Biblio.

OK, here's my last time posting after listening, sorry I just keep noticing more things.

When I turned my volume to max with earphones, what I thought was the wind noise, but now realize it really wasn't windy, gets super loud as I walk to the top of the hill, but as I walk down it quiets down again. From 5:52 - 5:56 when the voice says, "...over here" I can also see a misty area right around the tree and more than one face, which I have seen before in photos. It could be thought of as paradolia, but...it's more like the face sits on the mist in front of the foliage, and morphs quickly so it might be a face but then a half second later it's not. Like when you look at heat on a sidewalk sort of shiney/fuzzy. And there are three taps as I reach my vehicle as the camera's pointed at the pavement. I did not tap anything. But it seems intentional. All confirming what we pretty much know: you're never really alone in a cemetry or anywhere.

And that's not me at 3:23 either... Something like "is that one?" in a woman's voice.

Biblio,
That was NOT me who said "that hurt" but I heard it! I didn't hear it at all with my "Beats" earphones, but I can hear it with the ipod earphones. And you're right. I thought the last one said "it's ok" but it said "It's over here."

I'm so glad to have your thoughts and experience!

Pelatiah,

On your other video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFHbUACifAI&ab_channel=Birdie), there's a voice at 3:06 saying "That hurt" or something with similarly short syllables. Was that you talking to yourself? Your voice is much more clear and assertive later in the video.

The voice at 5:56 sounds like it's saying "It's over here."

There are several minor voices/sounds throughout the video, but I'm only using Apple AirPods with the volume cranked up to full. Perhaps someone with analytical equipment would be able to clarify what is there.

Best,
Biblio.

That 'Ooh Rah!' was very clear!

I agree, phone cameras are a whole different animal when it comes to photography!

Biblio,
I looked back at my calendar and the day was a Tuesday. I wracked my brain trying to remember if my husband may have taken that day off or gone in late, but even then, he's now 68 years old and has been out of the Corps since 2005. It's not like he goes around on a weekday morning and shouts, "ooh rah" like a young corporal! (Though you might catch him yelling it on a Saturday evening after a few brews).

This was just so random. I have wondered if the water makes that patio a place where the energy is strong. I also have a family photo from Easter a few years ago where my late Grandpa's face is in a streak of light with us, and what's funny is I had thought a lot about him that day, remembering family gatherings in his back yard. I won't go into the two different fires that have started back there, one in the pool pump and one from a table candle, in the last decade. Or the Civil War soldier that I'm convinced stops by now and then and possibly has had something to do with the fires. Now I do sound a little nutty.

Yes, they both link to the patio video. Thanks!
That second voice is distinct & clear.

Hey Biblio,
It's possible it won't post until midnight tonight, NYC time. There was something about that as I was loading, although that screen pop up for the second one, perhaps because it's short.

OK, yes, the cemetery one will go live tonight at midnight. The patio one is short, and should be here.

Greetings, Pelatiah.

I've tried the YouTube link several ways, but it does not lead to a video. I even tried taking out the space that somehow got between the question mark and the v in what should be a single url. Would you mind trying to copy-and-paste the link again? I'd like to hear the EVP.

Best,
Biblio.

Ok Val, this is the first time I've ever been able to figure out how to upload something onto you tube. I am not great with the technology or even finding my files once I download them from my phone. Please keep in mind that neither of these videos are meant to be actual videos (believe it or not, I am a journalist and used to work for a newspaper, including photography and actually developing real film in the darkroom, my kids don't believe me LOL because I'm not good with my phone camera). The videos are boring in and of themselves, even go sideways, sorry, other than the evps. And for those of you who're going to slow it down, you'll see my husband's headstone briefly after my ugly toes (I was sticking a small American flag in the ground) and realize that I gave him a fake name to post here. It's not really Scott. But I really, truly DO believe it's him on the patio yelling "Ooh rah" at me, 32 years after he died. He'd never give up. Hope you can hear what I hear. Also, as I come in off the patio, my dog's barking at me, or is she really barking at something she sees outside? Not sure.:)

Pelatiah,
I loved this entry so much. Can you possibly share the EVPs with us?
