Since Pepe was asking for "help", this means that he was (and perhaps still is) a soul in Purgatory. A person can help oneself up to the moment of ones death, but after that only the prayers and sacrifices of others can help oneself. This is why Pepe was asking for help from your Father... He needed (and perhaps still needs) prayers and sacrifices to help "purge" his sins and prepare his soul to be with God in heaven. Some of the "ghosts" that people see are souls from Purgatory in need of prayers and sacrifices. The rest are demons who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Hi Lalat and thanks for sharing your dad's experience with us.

It's a terrible thing to have you friend die in your arms despite your effort to help him. I'm sure it must have been dreadful for your dad.

I suppose his dead friend appearing in front of your dad comes to show that the poor boy's spirit was unwilling to accept his own unfortune death. Obviously he came to your dad because he was the only one who tried to help him. How sad!

I hope he hasn't appeared again and that he's found a way to cross over.
