At the time of the attacks he was no longer living in his home town where he was a volunteer firefighter. Therefore because he put 5 years time into the Fire Department he is called exempt meaning he is still a member of that towns Fire Department. He wanted to be reinstated because he knew the Fire House was short handed but I asked him not to because our oldest child was 15 and the other two were 12 and 10 1/2 and we wouldn't see him between his work and going to fires afterwards for a long time. However if we had another disaster, natural or otherwise and he wanted to be reinstated I would not object, at least I hope I wouldn't.

A few months later my husbands cousin and his wife were coming to N.Y. To visit. My mother in-law informed me that they wanted to go to Ground Zero and told me I HAD to take them. I vehemantly refused and I told her I wasn't going to put myself through that again. She got mad but in the end my husbands cousin drove into Manhattan and they got to go site seeing and to Ground Zero without me.

Red...I think Rook is awfully close if not right on the 'why' they might still be there. Like Miracles, I wonder if you've ever tried to sort whom this woman might be?

Red, what an emotional time this must have been, my god.😢 Did the woman appear to remember you the second time or have any knowledge you could see her?
It's heartbreaking for me to think about as an outsider, I can't imagine what that time must have been like for you. ❤

RedWolf - have you looked through the pictures of those who lost their lives to see if you recognize her?

Red,

Thank you for sharing this experience with us. You asked something towards the end of it that I wish to address...

"I wish I knew why she and the other spirits had not crossed over yet."

It doesn't matter what anyone believes about 'WHO' carried out the attack what matters is how horrible and how suddenly those lives were taken... Its easy, at least for me, to believe that the shear unexpectedness and horrible manner in which they died has kept (did keep?) some of those poor souls earthbound.

Again thanks for sharing and I hope that my reply helps explain why you felt and saw so many spirits during that walk.

Respectfully,

Rook

I agree with Antu Red. Your strength and fortitude just make me go "Wow". I've only had one incident that I considered to be empathic and it was not pleasant at all. How you were able to walk through that site without your knees buckling is hard to imagine.

Thanks for sharing Red. I've enjoyed reading all your accounts and I must say, you DO have an interesting life! 😊

No worries Miracles, I truly hope that was some sort mix-up of thoughts on loneybone's part and I suspect that is the case.

At any rate, Red, this was a touching story, and I can only imagine the effect the events of that day had on you and your family with your husband being a public servant, even if only on a part time or volunteer basis. I was a reserve peace officer for a time, and even here across the country in Cali, that day had a significant impact on me and to this day, the thought of it brings up a bevvy of emotions which I have difficulty in controlling. I doubt I will ever be able to visit the site, as I do have some empathic tendencies and I just think being there would be completely overwhelming for me. You must have the strength of a Grizzly Bear to be able to walk through that area Red.

Cheers~~Antu

Okay, before this becomes an all at war here, I've deleted loneybone's comment simply because I don't think she is aware of what happened.

Antu, I apologize to you because your comment is not going to make a whole lot of sense without loneybone's.

Good story Red, I don't think I would have the stomach to even walk through that area. I think that part of Manhattan will be forever haunted by so many poor souls who lost their life that day. 😢

But loneybone, how can you possibly say the Government killed all those people that day? 9/11 was a terrible tragedy carried out at the hands of Islamic terrorists, not our government! Politics aside, you are way off base even trying to assert the Government had anything to do with this tragedy.

Thanks again for sharing Red, and many thanks to you and your husband for his service and your sacrifice in allowing him to serve!

Cheers~~Antu
