A Black Robed Shadow

Well, This story is really interesting.
My cat died of flu. I never have seen any ghosts in my house which my house aged over 100 years old, Its weird. But when I take some photos inside my house, it got orbs which freaked me out, It was before my cat died. I'm so glad, that my cat sprit is not a bad one, and ghosts didn't do any scary stuff. And 1 question, How do I find some information about my house? Any useful hints?

As a child of a former securtity guard I have great respect for you. Be careful when you are on duty because there are evil things out there. And many places are being visted by shadow beings.

when I was young I was with my mother and my sister driving towards dog training in dunkerton somerset I remember being annoyed with them for her playing the tape of her recital blaringly loud and I was boiling away angrily and shouting so my mother stopped the car opposite an old church and a cemetery I know a cliche but I swear this is the truth to make me apologize only I wasn't really listening because I was petrified with fear my hair standing on end for no apparent reason my dog barking like a lunatic and I suddenly felt a very cold chill and eyes boring into the back of my head I turned around and saw a very dark shadow completely black with no light casting or natural shadowing and a completely black face the blackest darkest thing I have ever seen there were only robes and the blackness it was dusk and so things seem a lot darker but not when they are as close as it was and compared to everything else it was jet black the dark leaf evergreens in the background of the field where light in comparison with it I turned to my mother and shouted drive thinking they were all seeing the same thing but they had no idea and she was insisting that I said please in a panic I was begging please please drive drive but you know mothers she wanted a heart felt pious somber sorry so I was trapped still feeling the chill I once again felt the boring eyes and every time I looked at it my eyes where drawn in in a lord of the rings get off the road moment to the face there were no eyes only blackness I truly felt as if death had me I was about to leave the car and run but thought I would surely be killed or taken in to his realm or something so I tried to tune out and say I was sorry calmly but I couldn't I was petrified in a way that I have never experienced or likely will ever experience again eventually she decided probably from the fear in my voice that I was just wining and she had had enough and drove off I didn't really examine him properly but on the way back still terrified we drove back the same way and I saw where he was standing barely a foot in front of a cow gate about 5 foot tall and he was nearly twice the height of it his arms where long and his robes had a sort of the ring grey scale shadowing that was not of the light at the time he was completely separate from everything around him I can only describe it as a spirit of death exactly as yours only without the reaper axe or skeleton and very black a truly dark spirit that I was sure no one else had experienced they all said they had felt something strange but clearly not enough to warrant a response the only other thing I can mention is that it was in dunkerton somerset on the road going to dog training opposite a church yard

Well, one day during winter, in Cherokee Village, Arkansas, I happened to wonder outside. At the time I was 13. I walked onto the road, I start walking to one side of the road, then I hear crushing snow, I turn around annd see two black figures floating, one was a boy and the other was a girl. I yelled, buut they just kept walking, knowing me, I followed. I said, "Hey! Stop! Who are you!?" They turned around, buut no face. I looked down and saw no foot prints, buut I don't know how there was crushing sounds in the snow. When I looked back up they were gone.

My name is natasha I am 17 an live in timaru an I live with my boyfriend an a couple of flat mates well I straighten my hair a lot so I have this hair straighters an ill walk into the lounge or my room an they would be on I'm like ok I must of left them on so ill turn them off then it happened agen an then I'm ok I know for a fact I turned them off when I w0z finish with them an I was the only girl in the house at the time I w0z a bit freaked out by it so I told my boyfriend about it an he said well pull them out of the wall so I did.

Ive been working in security now for 6 months in Auckland and have had a,I would say "scary" experience during night patrols, while I was walking around one of our sites about 3am which was a scrap metal yard, my radio (walkie talkie) started hissing and making loud static noises, I radioed HQ and asked if they were trying to contact me or had made any transmissons, they said no, but as I began walking again across the yard it happened again but this time I could hear other wierd sounds through the static, I took the radio off my belt to check the channels to see if I had accidently changed it and might have been picking up a different frequency but I hadnt, something caught my eye and I saw on top of a shipping container " a squating black figure" looking down at me, even though it was night time I could still see this thing quite clearly because it was a darker black than the black of night, I felt the most amazing shiver hit my entire body, I remember every hair on my arms standing up and my mouth went completly dry, this thing had a human shape but seemed to have longer limbs, well arms at least because they hung down longer than a persons would, I spun around and ran for my vehicle which was parked outside the front gate of the yard and went back to HQ without finishing my other patrols, I have requested never to patrol that site again and now I dont, but I still get creeped out at nights sometimes thinking of that one time.

Ive never had that sort of an experience before, but isn't it peculiar that its at an ageing home? Wouldn't you come to the conlusion that maybe an elderly person still haunts the grounds, as you said, once looking at this creature a smell arose of burnt flesh? Maybe there had been a fire at some stage in the buildings existance? Maybe you should check that out?

i saw the same type of thing.
Im 15 and I was in my back yard at maybe 8:30, and I swear to god I looked up and I saw a cloaked figure with something over his face, like a bowl, I know I didn't imagine it because I looked at it for about ten seconds before it vanished

i HAVE EXPIRIENCED SOMETHING LIKE THAT I saw a black figure with a long robe it was walking but didn't see me (this time) it walked behind the car and disapeard I think ghosts that do stuf like that are bored and like to toy with us or are jealous that we have a human body

It's not only my imagination, but it seems like these "black robed figures" either don't like:
-Old people
-Security guards (no offence, I mean, you guys do a great job keeping th law intact when it comes to you know, stuff that you people do)
-Nails
-Hammers

Or maybe the site where the retirement home was being constructed had some paranormal past, this seems like the most likely explanation. Thank you for sharing yoru story.

I didn't realize until the past year how many people actually shared this experience. Seeing these 'hooded figures' seems to be quite common.

When I was a child, around six or seven, I remember waking up in the middle of the night and seeing a large (7/8 ft.) hooded shadow figure standing next to my bed. At first I thought I was just imagining things, as we've be taught to believe by our parents, however I realized that was not that case as I could not see my wall clock behind it. Additionally, the figure I saw had an almost skeleton-like face with dark ominous eyes. Scared to death and unable to yell for my parents I hid under my covers, only to peer out moments later and see the figure almost floating toward me. It was several seconds before my voice started to return enough for me to call for help. I have never seen the figure again and I'm now 23.

They say children are more receptive to the paranormal, however over the past couple years my experiences have been coming back and getting a lot stronger. According to a native woman that I've spoken with several times now, these shadow figures are merely our spirit guides and should not be feared. This would make sense since there are so many people who see them on a regular basis.

The Grim Reaper in a retirement village? Would make sense. Did anyone die around any of the times it was seen?

You are describing a type of spirit/entity/ghost/whatever that confuses me the most as they just don't seem to be be - well - of worldly origin. Hooded dark figures (often huge, 8 or 9 feet tall) and enormous black dogs with eyes as big as saucers clearly don't have any relation to real or deceased people or animals. The fact that they can seem to take actual physical form is also a puzzler. An upside is that apart from scaring people half to death they don't really do anything apart from come and go. It's almost as if they don't know (or don't care) that we're here. I don't these are demons or devils or any kind of religious bogeyman. If they were "evil incarnate" they'd certainly be messing with us a lot more.

All you need is the blood of Jesus. That is ALL you need. If you are all Christians, then you have already won this battle. This is a demon from the depths of hell, hence the smells you guys smelled. Tell the spirit, it is rebuked in the name of Jesus, and you will not allow it to disturb you again. Advise your coworkers to do the same.

Hello youngd, I don't think you have a spirit, but a diabolical. If not a demon, then a very powerful spirit who has done something bad in life.

If you wish to do battle, here are some of the gear you would want to have in order to battle the entity:
- Holy water,
- holy oil,
- holy salt,
-the Chaplet of St. Michael,
- sage,
- bible,
- a Benedictine medal, and
- a whole lot of faith and strength.

However, in the case you are not a Christian (most of the materials and rituals listed are practiced by Christian exorcists) you can just use the sage which is used by First nations people and many more. But most importantly of all, you need faith and courage, for demons and malevolent spirits feed on fear.

This is not a good spirit, the smell of flesh as described is also often referred to as rotten cabbage.
Essentially the spirit has refused to pass over, it would take a very experienced medium to help this spirit, for some reason I feel a cemetery is close by or the site itself used to be place of mental health care many years ago.

I actually have had the same experince with these black robed shadows. It happened on my fourteenth birthday. I was asleep when I awoke to the ice cold touch on my chest. Thats when I saw the shadow. It had a hood on so I could not see it's face. Then it took off the hood and stared me in the eyes. Its eyes where red. I stared at it for a full minute as if hypnotized then I blacked out. Some more events happened with the same shadow... But I'll publish the rest later.

Anyway I will reveal that it is always with me and every time I say "paranoid" it looks at me like a dog that had its name called.

i have a similar story which I will soon post. But I have seen a a figure like the one described, and now I'm typing this at 2:40 in the morning scared out of my mind. I looked up some stuff and it sounds like a djinn, and man, a lot of people have seen something like this.

Thats exactly what we saw. Don't worry we thought we were seeing things as well, but when I started asking the other Security Guards who were assigned there, they all saw it as well. So all of us couldn't have been seeing things.

Most of the Guards saw the black shadow running away as well, exactly as you describred it. I only saw it standing there, then it disapeared.

My husband and I have seen the same thing. A black figure that looks like a shadow, with a distinct shape of what society describes as the "grim reaper". We BOTH saw it at the same time, so I know it wasn't my imagination. It was under a street light and we were only 10-15 feet away. It was startled by our presence and it took off FAST, straight and smoothly, not like someone running or even someone on a skateboarding. No one could go that fast. And it faded away. We watched it "run" away in front of a row of parked cars and then fade away into thin air. You think you are crazy and that maybe you saw a shadow, but when your husband see's it too... You know it wasn't. I will never forget this thing. We don't even want to talk out loud about it. It was the weirdest thing we have ever encountered.

Wow, thanks for all your comments. Just a quick update. The retirement village is now built and there are people starting to move in.

I went and saw the Boss and asked to not be assigned there, so I havn't worked there for a while. I'm a lot happier now.

So for anybody who is still seeing the black robed shadows, I would like to share where I researched my stuff from.

The best resource that I found on the new was Wikipedia. This website explained a lot of things in an easy to understand way.

It sounds as if there is an entity of some type in the area you are patroling,. It may be realted to the land or any other buildings that may have been there. It may be attached to the land. Pray for the entity to be set free to peace. Say a prayer for it to go and find peace.

I've been researching these "shadow people" for nearly two years: Based on my research, I am absolutely convinced that they are the Djinn of the Koran (and other sources).

They often manifest in or near bathrooms, or other water pipes. This is consistent with the Djinn.

Djinn, according to the Koran, were made by God and have somewhat similar attrivbutes to us, in that they can be good or evil. In other words, they have free will.

im trying to submit my story up here I have just joined myself and my fiance just recently had to up and leave our house and move in with my mom due to a ghost writing on our wall it was so scary I don't understand why anything would do this except to scare you the writing on the wall is not readable and it is wrecking our heads to what it means if any of you out there know what this could mean or have had a similar experience let me know waiting for your reply. Me seeing this is the reason why I came on here. You'll probably run into my posts frequently on this one. I don't mean to be an annoyance but I'm real happy that other people had this expeerience. This figure I consider a demon, and it sometimes can be a black mass, I had one over my bed, that I think must have messed with my dream that was good but went bad, then woke up to it, and it made sound, I could sort of feel it.
Anyway, there was more experiences in direct vision with that. Long story short, I used a bible to get rid of it.

Now even if you don't believe in God, I just suggest planning for it, even if you carry a little Bible for months waiting, be prepared, run the Bible to it. If you do, send me the result, because mine was verrry interesting.

I read the story of ammityville hauntings, and what I find interesting is that all things ominous and are legimately haunted are linked to something demonic, such as these shadow figures.
