A Get Together With Friends

When I was a child, my father would invite neighborhood families to the house for the evening. Where other families would just play games like cards or board games, my father would come up with the idea of rocking the table about half way thought the evening just to have something different to do.

The night that I remember most clearly was when I was about 7 years old it was decided that I would rock the table with him. The table we would use was the dinning room table. This table was a very large cherry wood table that set 12. As we where a family of 10 We lived in a large 5 bedroom house on 40 acres of property, the rooms were all very large and the dinning room was no exception.

That night we put all the chairs back against the wall to have them out of the way then moved the table to the middle of the room. I was standing at one end of the table with my palms on the table at about elbow length from the end of the table with my body not touching it, my father stood at the other end and also put his hands on the table at elbows length or more onto the table also where he in no way touched the table other than just the palms of his hands. It was quite in the room as my dad told me to clear my mind and only think over and over again "if there is someone here rock the table" that's what I did. It was slow at first but the table kind of moved just a little bit like some one was pushing against it as if they were getting up from a chair. Then the table started raising up off the floor from my father's side of the room I might add there was no way that I could have done this to have it tip towards me and with him only having his palms on the table there was no way that he could do it either... He started to ask questions that would be yes and no answers he said if it's No, rock one time, if it's Yes, rock two times. This question and answers only went on till he thought it would be fun to see if we could get them to put the table up on one leg and go around in a circle on that one leg... he asked if they would do that for us tonight... The answer to that question was a bone jarring, Yes.

The table started rocking back and forth very hard for just a few seconds till it got up so far that my dad had to move to the side of the table to keep his hands on it. It was tipped up on the two legs on my side and stayed that way for all of 2-3 seconds then tipped up onto one of those legs and stood that way for a second or two and then started to turn slowly we had to walk around with it to keep our hands on it, at first it was just walking, then I had to run to keep up with it! Needless to say the neighbors that had come to the house were terrified of what they were seeing as never once did my father have anything more in contact with the table then the palms of his hands. And they knew that there was no way that I could have done what they were seeing. The table was going to fast for us to keep up and I lost hold of it and let go and it came down on all four legs and just stood still, I can still see my step mother's face when she looked at her table to make sure it was ok after what it had been put though...

That was the only time I ever agreed to rock the table with my father with people from the neighborhood at the house. As that kind of put me at a disadvantage to say the least with the kids I went to school with.

This is definitely a cool story. I would love to try it myself, but have nobody that would do it with me. I would love to hear any more experiences you may have had in life.

Read your stories and am feeling just a little... "neener-neener-neener" to my inner doubting Thomas. LOL. As much as I belive, I question myself. This and your other story are frikkin' awesome and I love how matter of fact you and your folks seem to have been about this whole thing.
I hope you have more to post soon. Your experiences are definitely worth learning from, and your acceptance of it all is worth understanding!

That's an interesting way to make contact with a ghost. Never heard of that method before lol... I usually just try the whole "tap the wall" or "Move the cup" but to move a whole table is kind of cool

Thanks for the story

god bless!

Came across these stories again and thought I would sign in and leave a note after reading the Comments I understand that most likely those that left them will not show up again to read this but thought someone else might come across this little story and read the comments and like to know my answers to these questions...

First off I am glad those that have read my stories liked them and to answer some of the questions posted...

Janice yes you can rock the table to talk to spirits instead of using a Ouija board. As a matter of fact it's a lot easier to rock the table then to hunt up a Ouija board...

To Autumn yes I have done automatic writing though I found it not to my liking as I am not able to sit for the amount of time it takes to do it without moving around and my mind going off what I am doing.

Southern Monkey yes it's true it all happened just as I wrote it. As for poltergiest, sorry I never looked at rocking the table as being in any way connected with poltergiests, it has been my understanding that poltergiests are trouble makers and they do as they wish not as they are asked to do. Once your hands are off the table, chair, or what ever you are rocking it stops. As for asking for anything else besides moving the table yes there was times that you could ask that they move the drapes on the windows and as I was saying a "chair or what ever..." Really anything that has legs and does not roll can be used to rock as long as you have room to put your hand or even your fingers on it. I have even seen a chair being rocked that had someone standing on it to make it stop. 😁

last to KimSouthO, I am a christan and I see and use the gifts that God has given me. People that have no idea of what I am talking or are afraid of it, see it as the work of the devil that does not mean that it is or that my family or I see it as such... We all have gifts given to us by God "how" we use them is what counts.

I've heard of this (from a lady that I'm sure wouldn't lie about it.) I think there may be some truth to this phenomenon... But I'm sure if I was to actually witness it...well, I'd probably just run away screaming. 😐

Interesting... I wonder does this poltergiest do anything other then that? Or do you have to ask it to do something else? Or possibly does it only move the table? Because sometimes poltergiests move a lot of things. In some stories I have read they move things around if say they don't like where it's possistioned. Anyway thanks for posting your story 😁 ❤ Melonlover

Hi!I think that is awsome. I would try it, but I'm not allowed to do those kinds of things. I come from a strong christian family and my mom is afraid that demons may harm us or something if we do things evil.I'm not saying that's an evil thing to do, but I think she's worried we may come across somethin evil.

I have heard of "table tipping", indeed. It's actually not too uncommon. People just place their palms, or finger tips on the table, and try to communicate with spirits. It's the same as a ouija board. With the board, you are placing your fingertips on the small plastic game piece, and asking for spirits, with their energy, and your energy, to move the piece, and spell out answers to questions, etc. With table tipping, you are asking them to use their energy, and yours, to move the table, tapping/moving a certain way to answer questions.

Deborah- Per chance, have you tried automatic writing? Since you have such great success with table tipping, auto-writing might be interesting to try.

My dad showed us table up when I was around 9 and we would show are friends and they would become believers real fast. He said he learned it when he was stationed overseas. It got so good that it went on one leg and we would have to run around the leg as the table spinned. We would as it to rock forward like a rocker knife, I used to work at pizza hut and that is what we used to cut the pizzas, and it would lunge forward.

I have not lived in that house for more then 30 years... That took place back in the late 60's... And really what's not understood, is it was a way of us having fun, it didn't only happen in that house we could go anywhere and do it in any house it didn't matter.

The only reason that I was upset about that time, is because when you are 7 years old and going to school, kids find out that you can do this type of thing, it just doesn't go over well. I never regretted doing it, I just regretted it getting out and coming back to bite me! After all it was thought to be the work of the devil.....
