The Strange White Dog

One of the stranger experiences I've had puzzles me to this day. Whether or not this even was supernatural or just a very odd coincidence, I will never know. It started off when I was a little girl, about 8 or 9, there was a path in the woods in my neighborhood I used to go walking on every so often. I used to go walking there if I was scared of being home alone in my house (see my first story, it explains how I was afraid of my house as a child).

One day when I was walking, I had gotten pretty far into the path when from up ahead trotted what looked like a white german shepherd, although the exact breed is not clear. It had no collar and no markings of any color and his fur was sort of dull but not dirty nor did the dog look homeless, despite its lack of a collar.

When the dog got closer, I put my hand out to pet it but it just walked by me, as if it didn't even see me at all, it never looked up at me, it just stared ahead and kept going and seemed to disappear quickly into the distance. I thought it was possible that their owner was further up on the path, but when I reached the end, I saw no sign of any person, not to mention I don't recall the dog belonging to any of my neighbors. I brushed the incident off and never told any one about it.

Well, that was until about 2005 when I don't know for the life of me what reminded me of the incident but I remembered it quite vividly. So I decided to tell my boyfriend about it. He didn't really think much of it until the next day. We had been driving for several hours and my boyfriend stopped the car on the side of a dirt road going through a woods like area (no houses for miles) so that he could well take a pee.

I got out to stretch my legs, I looked up ahead and trotting down the road I see a white german shepherd looking dog, no collar, no markings. The same as the last time it seemed to not even see me. I called to my boyfriend.

"do you see that dog!?"

"it's the same as in the story I just told you about!"

He walked in front of the dog and it just walked around him not looking up, he extended his hand to pet the dog and it just moved away faster and disappeared down the road. What had just happened? I had not uttered a word about the white dog for nearly 10 years and the DAY AFTER I finally do, I see it again! And this time someone else saw it.

Now as I said before, I don't know if it was supernatural or coincidence what ever it was, I will never forget the strange white dog.

It could in fact be your guardian. Not harmful in any way, just looking over you and protecting you:)

I know this is a bit out-dated, but I swear a tingle just went up my spine. I just finished posting my very first story about a dog that looked *JUST* as you described that one! I even described it myself as a white german shepherd dog. 😲

This has really opened my eyes a little more! (From astonishment, haha.) That's too much of a coincidence for me.

Wow, Sounds like to me this dog could have been connected to you in a good way, maybe as your spirit guide. However it didn't sound like anything to be afraid of, for it didn't try to harm you or your boyfriend in any kind of way. Sorry I couldn't be of much help but thanks for sharing your story with us. 😊

So I read this other story like this and decided to check out and found your story. I think you should read it. (:

my sisters and her friends were driveing down this old and scarey looking road because they were looking for this old brige that people say is hunter, she was with her boyfriend and his friends and her other friends were in the car behind them
and on their way there her friends in the car behind her saw some big white dogs walking on the side of the road and because there were no houses on the road they were at they just thought the dogs were stra dogs when they asked the person driveing he said that he didn't see anything
the friends in the car in front of them are scare because it is a dark road.
so they just call and tell them that they are going home they fallow and when they get home the friends in the back seat of the car ask if any one saw any big white dogs on the side of the road the dude driveing with my sister said that he did and my sister said that she was looking out the same window and didn't see any big white dogs on the side of the road.
so they just think that it was a stra dog.
days later my sister calls one of the friends and tell her that she was looking for an old hunted birge but couldn't find it her friend that live 10 miles way for the road just saids that there isn't a birge and my sister just saids no wonder why we couldn't find it and her friend just saids that there is no hunted birge there but there is a story about this big white dogs that were runaway slave dogs that were killed and people are saying are still hunting the roads my sister than calls her friends and tells them that they did see a ghost

Dear fizzylizzie,

Well, it is up to you what you think this white dog was or represents. It may be a ghost dog or symbolic. If it is symbolic, it is up to you to be the interpreter of this attached symbol.--Abby

P.S. I would like to mention I find it amusing that your typewritten comments always look like short sentences that do not wrap nor have a beginning and end. 😉

Man that would be a weird coincidence... 10 years is a lot for a dog... Did it look as if it had aged? And its odd that the dog didn't look up at you either time... 😕

Hi Fizzylizzie! I just read your other story too. I don't believe in coincidence, so I think there's something here. I don't know what. Did anything happen in your life(good or bad), around either time you saw the dog? Maybe it's just a spirit drawn to you? From your other story, it sounds like you're attractive to spirits. The nightmares were disturbing but the other experiences sound benign. The tap on the leg maybe scared you but you didn't say the figure was threatening in any way. I'll bet you'll have a lot of things like this throughout your life. 😉
