Old Farm House Experience

My "10 Years Old and New House" story reminds of some experiences I had going out to a friend's uncle's farm house. I don't remember how old the house might have been but it could have been built in the late 1930s-1940s, it was very nice old farm house, very well kept inside and out.

I first started visiting there when I was 12, my friend's aunt and uncle were extremely nice, easy going retired farm people. They very much lived on the main floor. What got me was the 'upstairs', I never saw or heard anything but it made me extremely uncomfortable. It was almost like walking into some type of electric field.

This was about 2 years after my "10 Years Old and New House" experience so I was somewhat sensitive to something there. My friend never felt anything but thought some of the old time pictures watched him. We camped out many times over the years but I never would have stayed the night in that house. My friend did tell me about an aunt with a very strict reputation that had passed away in one of the bedrooms upstairs.

It was almost certainly something paranormal but I have no idea what it might have been. I have never, since then, felt anything stronger. After getting the $%^t scared out of me at age 10 or so, I may well have been blocking some of the things I might have otherwise noticed. By the time I was in my 20s, the effects, if they were still there didn't bother me much, if at all.

ETA: I actually tested the 'feeling' I got by walking up and down the stairway to the 2nd floor. I could tell when I encountered "it" and when I left the 'area' going back down stairs. I encountered this "electric field" a certain number of steps from the top floor.

It was a feeling similar to being charged up from walking across a carpet in the winter time, except that it didn't go away when I stepped on the hard wood flooring. Whatever it was, it didn't vary any as I walked about the second story.

I have read of other sensitives mentioning these types of feelings in actual haunts, eg.   (Sybil Leek working with Hans Holzer on a case in California.)  In my case IDK, it could have been residual.

Thanks,

Rob

And everybody else.

Thanks for the replies. My first exposure to the farm house happened back in the early 70's. The house was torn down in the mid 80's.

Re electronics: I don't even remember a table radio back then, all I do remember are old style electric light bulbs in the upstairs area.

I have heard about the tours at old Missouri State Penitentiary. It would really be a neat place to test one's sensitivity. LOL, I'm now living in NEMO so a tour there is a possibility.

Regarding the house where I saw the "arm": I often wondered where the ghost hid out so to speak. I've read lots of stories where closets seem to be common hiding places. While this is only speculation, it seems that "some" ghosts need to hide from daylight, lighted areas etc. While it's not a universal thing, there are plenty of examples other wise, I see closets mentioned often enough to wonder about it.

I don't remember the static / electric field feeling in that house but I may have gotten used to it before my encounter. Thanks for the reply.
Best,
Rob

We all have a sixth sense, and I think yours was trying to keep you alert.

robmkivseries70,

Thank you for sharing your experience. What an interesting read! I found your style of writing and the thought behind it so engaging that I read your other story as well.

The static that you describe is what energy feels like to a sensitive. With practice, you can map its ebbs and currents, much like water. You can also learn to feel what is sentient or moving energy versus what is environmental, and to read the "charge" - that is emotions or intent, and often direct communications as well.

While it is possible that there were electronics on the upper floor of the farmhouse emitting an elecromagnetic field that you were picking up on, it is also true that energy pools in places with low movement, as does water, and the energy can amass and stagnate there, like a deep, still pool. If the couple living in the farmhouse seldom or never went into the upper floor, it would naturally develop that heavy, stagnant old energy feel. Another layer of "it is also true" to that - sometimes if there are spirits, they prefer to be in those quiet places, energy lees, like closets and attics and undisturbed corners. It's peaceful and sheltered, like keeping away from high wind or rough water, where people and life is churning the energy up.

The only real way to tell is through practice. As you do appear to already be energy sensitive, you could choose to develop the sense further. Continue to expose yourself to energy rich environments, to always have your feelers out, and to keep paying attention. Even in your own house, you can feel for small staticy tingles, learn to track them, map the currents of your own house. If that is something you pursue, I would suggest also researching grounding and shielding, as with increased sensitivity comes the need for increased protection and defense.

One time, I was on a ghost tour at the old Missouri State Penitentiary, once known as the "bloodiest 47 acres in America," now a museum. It was highly active. With me on a the tour was another woman who could pick up on the energy fields, but didn't yet understand what she was feeling. As you sussed out the edge of the energy field on the stairs in the farmhouse, so she detected the edge but read it as a barrier, one that meant "get out." I was able to explain it to her as a skin around the energy field like the skin on water and she was essentially an insect walking on it, feeling it to be more solid than it was. Once she understood that, she felt comfortable passing inside, and that was her first step towards learning to read what was going on inside the field. I suppose I would say the same to you: the energy is just energy. It's everywhere, and it is palpably stronger in some places. Sometimes you can even see it too, especially outside, like a swirling vapor. There's a whole world of sensitivity going beyond just perceiving energy and into reading energy.

About your other story, seeing the blurred arm-shape extending from your parents' bedroom: in that same prison tour I just mentioned, I actually have a photo of a ghostly hand on my shoulder. Just the hand, quite clearly shaped and filmy-white, up to about the wrist bone. My husband took the picture after I felt one of the spirits climb up the back of my legs in one of the cells and cling onto my back, holding on around my shoulders, just where the hand appeared in the photo. The prison was stuffy with intense summer heat cloying within thick stone walls (imagine being locked in a tiny cell shoulder-to-shoulder with seven other unwashed prisoners in suffocating heat) and I had a refreshing cold spot hanging around me the whole time the spirit was there. He was very weak, desperate for help, and just wanted to be carried outside and set free, which he got. Doesn't even matter what he was in for, every sentence ends at death. It's not uncommon at all for only parts of spirits to be visible, and it does sound like there was something in the attic of the house you lived in. Why the attic? It's one of those calm energetic lees described above.

You mentioned that, although you live quite a distance away, you wouldn't mind talking to the current owners of the house. I currently live in an 1886 house located in a historic district. I have spoken to a couple of people still living in the area who have resided in the house before, and their stories were very interesting. I have also given a tour of the house to a couple I randomly chatted with on the street around the corner from my house, as it turned out the man was there trying to trace the history of a recently-reunited birth parent who had revealed ties to my house. All kinds of interesting stories come up with you own a house with history. We've also had a lady knock on the door simply saying she'd always loved the house and asking for a tour, which we were happy to give. We once had a dad bring his two little true-crime-fan daughters to our door as they were interested in the murder history of the house. I suspect the people now living in your childhood home would be happy to talk to you and hear your stories of the house.

Google the address, and you'll find property rolls listing the current owner. See if you can find them on social media, or do a 411.com name search looking for a phone number. You can always snail mail an introductory letter with your contact information. As you live far away, it would be better to contact them and set up an appointment rather than driving all that way to just show up hoping they're home and it's a convenient time for them.

Cheers.

No problem Rob, I didn't even address you lol so that's a point for both 😆

The sense thingy... You know people says that the sense could be trained 🤔
Which did not make sense for me (No, not dad joke) Like doing sports I think? Then it may weaken by time if nothing really happened to you or if you have not sensed anything for a long period...

Anyhow, update us if you have more to tell 😉

No worries, this is a story that goes way back. The house is gone and the lands been sold a long time ago. I wouldn't mind having another experience just to check my sensitivity. Thanks for the reply.
Best,
Rob

Hi!
I happen to live in a farm house too, and the area around my house is supposed to be haunted. I do understand the tingling feeling and the charged but not gone feeling. 😲

I kind of thought that it would be kind of like... Static electric thingy? But it seemed not its always charging and its not going to go "BLAM!" any time. Yup, it is kind of not comfortable for sure.

Hope you will find a solution.

Sending luck ❤
