There's A Monster Under The Bed

This event happened years ago and I was probably around the ages between 10 until 13, but I assure you what I experienced as a kid was pretty horrifying.

During this time I had a pet cat which would walk around the house at night, but it would be known it was the cat because she had a bell around her neck that made a jingle noise every time she moved.

So as I prepared my bed (which was a sofa that converted into a bed), I proceeded to turn off all the lights and the television and lie down.

After a long while of trying to sleep, I hear this heavy breathing noise that seemed to originate from under my bed. I thought to myself that it was probably my imagination or that I was probably breathing so heavy that I could hear myself.

With that thought in my mind, I then decided to hold my breath and stop breathing to see if it was me. To my surprise, I still heard the breathing just as heavy as ever.

As the breathing was still going on, I then thought that it could've probably been the cat. Regardless though, I was frozen in fear and did not dare to move and I was thinking of grabbing the television remote control to turn it on (although, I don't actually remember if I did or not).

So, as I was wondering if it was the cat or not, I then heard the cat's bell jingle two rooms down out of my room. This just freaked me out even more.

Since this happened so long ago I don't actually remember how I spent the rest of the night. Anybody have any ideas of what it could have been?

I just remember the next morning when I checked under the bed and the couch and found nothing.

I've heard heavy breathing before as well, while sitting at the kitchen table I heard breathing behind me. I turned around and didn't see aything. It happened three more times, then I heard very heavy breathing in my left ear! I don't recall actually "feeling" someones breath though. I got up and bolted out the backdoor!

I think everyone has experienced a "monster" under their bed. But this probably wasn't a monster, it was a ghost or spirit who probably wanted some atention. You should find out who previously lived in the house!

I'm not really sure what this might have been. Have you done any research on the residence? I think it could possibly be a residual haunting (just a replay of old events) when perhaps someone slept on the floor where your bed is now. Have you verified that there are no vents or anything near the underside of the bed?

Thank you for sharing your story with us!

Warmest blessings,

i experience the exact same thing, but its always on my right side, after a while (because it was only happening when I was sick) I figured out it was my dog who had passed away when I was 6. I'm 15 now and we still feel her around the house. Its pretty cool, kind of like my cat and my dog do shifts looking after me, because once my cat leaves the room I start hearing the snoring (she snored towards the end of her life) I was never scared and its kind of comforting to know she still looks out for me 😊

I believe that it simply was a spirit trying to draw attention to itself.

Just remember, do not be afraid as that draws energy from you to the spirit.

Take care! ❤

Hmm, I think we all concluded it's not a "monster", but a ghost or a demon would have been plausible...

But yah, I don't know much about the history of my house, but I do know that it's pretty old (as it still has those oil lamp things on the wall, but they're not usable... They kind of just look like stuff sticking out of a wall) and that it was some type of doctor or medical place (there's still that thing on my ceiling that's supposed to have a curtain hanging to give patients privacy)... BUT, I don't have knowledge if anybody died in this house or anything.

I was also pretty sure that my house wasn't haunted, but after one or two events, I beg to differ on any supernatural activities that could possibly happen...

...and with the exception of me... My family are born-again christians (and I'm agnostic) and all that... So, that could possibly be one reason why there's a lack of spirits and why I'm "targeted"... Hmm...

But yah, I'll try and see if there's any history on my house... I just don't know where to look...

The story is interesting. I think the sound is made by some ghost because creatures such as monsters don't exist😁

We're all saying that there's no such thing as monsters, but is that accurate? Deamons are often called monsters. Although, I would picture those two words as different things. I think theat it could have been a deamon.
We are always saying that it is human spirits, but sometimes there are angels of the devil that are deceptive (by appearing to be the spirit of a real person). Don't be decieved by them!

Hm very interesting... I would have to tell you to do some research on the house to explain it better...

Wow! It was probably a ghost because there are no such things as monsters! But it's understandable because you were still little and almost every little kid belives that there is a monster under their bed! 😆 Great story! 😊 ❤

I have never heard heavy breathing under my bed, but always around in a particular spot in the bedroom, the hallway even the lounge. Some nights I lay in bed and stop myself breathing just to make sure it is not me. Guess what it is definitely a man breathing. I am glad you never heard it again, but should you ever hear it again as already requested, let us know.

I had that happen to me a few years back while lying in bed and husband was not home and cats were not in the room either. It only lasted a few seconds but it was unnerving. I also held my breath thinking it was me. I will admit to maybe being in slight dream state at the time so I never gave a whole lot of thought to it. I don't know what it was either. The sound of it seemed to be next to me while your's seemed to come from under your bed. Anyone out there able to bring some light to this phenomenon? I know many ghost hunters have heard breathing while investigating so it's not uncommon. What it is, is the question. If there can be disembodied voices I guess disembodied breathing is just as viable.

Well I don't believe it wasn't a "monster" either, but it does make a interesting title for the event. Haha, but if it was a ghost I wonder why it was under my bed...

...and I haven't heard anything from it, and this happened years ago... And I'm still sleeping in the same room. If it happens ever again, I'll probably freak out even more since I no longer own any cats.

Hey! I do very indeed think that it may have been a Ghost/Spirit. Because there is not-such-thing as a monster.

I hope you'll never see it again - as if it may cause very bad causes, if you see this again - please, write back.
