My House Scares Me

I live in a three story house in Golden, Colorado and I am home alone a lot at night and in the afternoon due to my dad's job. Alot of things happen in my house.

In my bathroom, there are two doors. The regular door and a door that leads to my dad's room. One night when I was alone, I was getting ready to take a shower and I locked both doors. I then jumped into the shower, and began washing my hair. About three minutes after getting into the shower, I heard a huge BANG! I peeked out of the shower curtain, to find my dad's door open, slightly a crack.

In my bedroom, I was listening to music very quietly, when out of no where, I heard a man. He sounded very angry and upset. He shouted "KELLY!" I thought it might have come from my dad, who was working in the garage, but when I asked him about it he told me it wasn't him. Also, when I am trying to sleep, I hear footsteps, voices, and sometimes the little charms I have hanging on my doorknob swing quietly and scratch against my door, even when there is no wind.

In my basement, I see a lot of shadows out of the corner of my eyes. I also sometimes hear the ringing of an old fashioned phone, even though the TVs and radios are off and the house is silent.

Even my friends have experienced things in my house. I've had many of my friends tell me they've seen a shadow man outside my bedroom door, waiting for me. Some have even told me they've heard someone call their name. My grandma told me once when she came over that she didn't feel comfortable in my dad's room or the extra bedroom across the hall.

Like I said, a lot of things happen in my house.

Darkfantum: I cannot speak for anyone else but how was your comment in any way helpful? All you said was "I would not like to stay in your house". Your comments also tend to be very illiterate, to the point that they make no sense and defeat the purpose of being helpful.

GhostlyGurly17: You mentioned you and your father had done some renovations to your kitchen in 2008. Can I ask you was this around the time that you started to have these experiences? Whatever is going on there I do not believe that it is evil, I think it is something that you may have accidently disturbed whilst renovating perhaps.

Thanks for sharing.

I think any spirit who visits uninvited is most likely a problem. If it where a live person doing those things, you would probably call the police or arm yourself, not make room for them and introduce them to the kids.

I recall one mother who found that she needed to pray every night or her baby would be open to attack by a spirit who had been bothering them. Which makes sense as there is instruction that people should pray Daily for their needs.

Nephele, my friends, more spacifically, Arcie, Catey, and Angela, told me he looked as if he were waiting for me to return to my room. Something tells me though that it might be evil because I am a catholic and my dad and I have crosses above every door and window in the house and is seems like he is not able to go into my room. I'm thinking that maybe the power of the crosses in my room are creating a shield that he can not pass. Is that possible? 😕

When you said your friends said the shadow man was outside of your door, what do you mean it was waiting for you?

I agree with aia. As unsettling as these experiences are, they don't sound threatening. Try to remain objective, look for non-paranormal causes for all events. If no normal cause can be found, then it's likely paranormal. Objectively consider the event, ask yourself what was frightening? Was the event threatening, or just unexpected? Ghosts have limited means of communication, and sometimes the means they do have available scare the living. I'm not saying that all ghosts are nice, some aren't. But usually they just want to be acknowledged, and the more they feel they are being ignored, the more obnoxious they can get. For now, I think your best bet would be to try to control your fear, as fear tends to influence judgment.

Well, I have to disagree with the others. I don't think this spirit is evil. He's just hanging around, is my guess. I used to be scared of my house too, because I've had things happen to me before. I've had someone call my name too.

Even though you've tried blessing your house, you might want to try again. Say a prayer aloud, and then tell the spirit that is has to leave. It is no longer welcome, and that this is your house.

I hope this works. Thanks for sharing your story.

souids like a angry male spirit on the way you are desrcibing the spirit. You might have caught his attention because your always in the house most of the time. My advise would be do NOT use the ouija board on this situation. He seems not good. I have nothing agianst ouija boards because I use them personally but I think if you use it with this spirit he might end up hurting you.
-good luck ❤

If I were you, I'd try to reach a local paranormal investigator and ask if they would be willing to bring in their team and conduct a professional investigation. Perhaps they'll come up with hard evidence that will give you personal validation (aka confirmation that you are NOT going nuts). Plus, unless your dad is an unreasonable skeptic, he probably wouldn't ignore intelligent response EVP's or picture/video evidence; and with him convinced you'll no longer be facing this entity/entities alone. The team may also be able to refer you to a medium who may be able to cross the spirit over, or at the very least give you a good idea what you're dealing with. On the flip side paranormal teams are usually good at debunking as well, and if they determine there isn't anything paranormal going on around there, they'll more than likely suggest how/why certain things you've witnessed happened. This scenario would also make you feel better and at ease, why not try? It's a win-win.
Keep us posted
Blessings!

WReck72, the house was built in the 60's or 70's I think. My dad bought the house from some guy and my room is now what used to be his teenage sons room. In 2008, my dad and I remodeled our kitchen.

CounterDemon, I have told my dad and he doesn't believe me.Yes, my full name is Kelly and I've heard him more than once and in more than one place.

MaskedPsycho, I have tried to bless the house and it did not work.

Baccheagrl, Yes, sometimes I do feel threatened in my house. No, when my friends told me about the shadow outside my door, they were pale white and shaking.

I know Golden is crazy. Read my story CONSTANT. I lived there a lot. I know how creepy it is in that town. What happened to me in my childhood years in that house on 15th & Washington scared me for life. They knocked it down & built new condos & I just want to go & ask the tennents if anything crazy happens. I do drive up there a lot. Ity will always haunt me.

How long have lived there? Do you have any idea how long or if it was vacant before you moved in and was there any renovations done? New homes almost always have an uneasy feeling for a little while and if you just moved in you may have stirred up something which could settle down on it's own over times, or like many people mentioned it could be some naturally occurring noises. You could also just trying telling what ever maybe there that this is your home and it is not welcome there. Any way the more information you can give the better responses people can give. As is I think it will settle down it's self overtime and as a teenage girl having some paranormal experiences is pretty common so it may just be bothering you right now cause you are more sensitive to it now.

Hello and thank you for sharing your experience. The name calling sounds like it might have been residual from the previous owners of the house or property. Did someone live there before your family? If so, do you know if maybe they had someone in the household by the name of Kelly?

I do agree with lazria about checking out your surroundings to make sure everything is in order before settling on paranormal. For example, just yesterday I walked into the kitchen and watched my refrigerator door slowly swing partly open with no one there. I stood there for about two minutes, silently panicking in the back of my head before I finally got myself under control, walked over and saw... My aunt's dog sniffing around in the fridge. It turns out my cousin had opened the door for a drink and did not close it all the way. It had been open just an imperceptible hair of a crack, and the dog smelled food and nosed it open. Boy did I feel silly. 😉

Once you figure out all the things it CANNOT be, you have a better idea of what it might be, or is.

Before jumping straight to paranormal, try to isolate things first. Creaks and bangs can be normal of an older (or not that old but poorly constructed) house. Heating ducts or pipes, water pipes, animals in the wall or the house itself shifting with the change in temp from day to night.
Voices and whispering could be appliances - my fridge sounds like someone is whispering when the compressor kicks on and it can be heard in almost the whole place. If the walls are thin (typical of older homes) maybe you are picking up outside sounds or people.
Doors opening or chimes slightly moving with no wind can be caused by warped wood door frames or flooring. I've watched a door open itself when you stepped on the wooden plank flooring in just the right spot, or doors closing if the wind outside is blowing as houses can get leaks or get "pressurized" making things move with nearly undectible air currents.
Even "creapy" feelings can be contrubuted to high EMF fields or (no joke) an aboundance of mold in the walls. If the house is older, the wiring or power panels can be subpar and "leak".
Shadows could be light effects or possible side effects of high EMF fields as well. In a basement, which is typically dark and cluttered, your shadow or shadows of items around you can look like they are moving, exspecially if you are "on alert".

I'm not discrediting anything you've felt or experienced, sometimes creapy things have logical reasons, sometimes not. Check around and see if you can figure out anything, if not or if things excellate, then you probably do have something paranormal occuring.
Good luck and take care, keep everybody up to date on anything you find out.

Have you tried blessing the house? It could get rid of what ever was making you scared, and it could put you at ease if you knew 'it' was gone.

It all sounds a bit spooky to me. I guess it could be malevolent. I know you said you felt uncomfortable, but have you ever felt really threatened? Are you sure your friends weren't messing with you about the shadow outside your room? Have you actually seen the shadow outside your room? I know you say you see shadows in the basement, but do you see them in the living space of your house? The name calling probably was unintentionally angry. Maybe the spirit, or whatever it was, could only muster up enough energy to express itself that way. I see you have a bit of activity in your house. Do you think it's really anything to worry about?
