The Spider, The Girl, And A Case Of The Blues

In early 1999 my sister and I moved into a very nice duplex in Faerie Glen, Pretoria. This place was modern, good to look at and well-kept.

This is also the place where I have experienced some of the most bizarre and unconventional spooky events of my life.

Beneath the staircase was a little storage room which I had converted into my own little computer room. I spent most of my nights there, playing games, surfing the net or doing some office work from home. At times, when things got unearthly quiet in the wee hours of the morning, I would feel that I wasn't alone in that small, cramped room. This feeling escalated a bit after a rather unnerving encounter.

As per usual, I was sitting at my computer, when I saw a long, hairy leg come across the top of my monitor. A white, hairy spider the size of my palm was slowly making its way over my monitor. Usually I am not too bothered by spiders, I actually like them quite a lot, but this one made me scoot my chair back against the wall behind me. It looked rather menacing and none too friendly. I sat there staring at the spider for a few seconds when it suddenly disappeared halfway through its trek down my monitor. It didn't fall or jump, it just wasn't there anymore. I sat there for a few seconds, trying to rationalise what I had just seen, but quickly decided that I would finish my work in the morning, and to hell with spook spiders!

Another common event in the duplex was a girl we used to see come down the stairs late at night. We would usually catch a glimpse of her while sitting around the table in the living room, or when we were watching tv or listening to music on my sister's stereo.

She would casually walk down the stairs, wearing blue jeans, boots and a blue tank top. Then, before she would reach the bottom of the staircase, she would vanish.

For a long time we were not too bothered by her, since she seemed to be residual in nature, a recording of a previous tenant simply walking down the staircase. We changed our theory one late night while my friend and I were watching movies at my house.

At around 1am we had just finished watching a DVD and were ready to go on to the next one, when I got up to get us some coffee. As I turned around I came face to face with our stairs girl, looking extremely angry. She was shouting and gesturing, a look of pure rage on her face, but we couldn't hear a thing. I took a few steps back, and she lunged forwards in the direction of my friend, then vanished, as she usually did on the staircase. We never saw her again after that encounter.

As this event piqued our interest, I asked around the complex to try and find the identity of our stair girl. The only possibility we could latch onto is from what we heard from the caretaker, who had lived in the complex since it first accepted tenants. Apparently the original owners of our unit had a very rebelious daughter in her late teens who had a thing for wild parties. One night, after one of these parties, she caught a lift home with a group of rather intoxicated friends. The car they were traveling in left the road and rolled, flinging her away from the wreckage. The friends survived, but she was declared dead at the scene. From the description given by the caretaker, we feel that it was her on the staircase.

It was also in this duplex that I had one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. I had been out with my girlfriend of two and a half years to celebrate my birthday, when she simply told me that she had been seeing someone else for nearly three months. We broke off the relationship right then and there. I had come home feeling extremely dejected and emotional. I didn't even bother going up to my bed, I simply flopped down onto the couch and fell asleep almost immediately.

Early the next morning at about 5:30 I was woken up by a slight nuzzling of my cheek by a rather cold, wet nose. I opened my eyes to stare at the most beautiful husky I had ever seen in my life. It had a glistening coat, and extremely beautiful ice blue eyes. It nuzzled my cheek a few times, then gave the side of my face a big lick. It then turned towards the hallway which led to the back door. It turned to me once, gave a small huff, then disappeared down the hall. I got up to follow it, but as I entered the hallway, I noticed that the back door was still locked and bolted, and the husky was nowhere to be seen. It had, however, managed to cheer me up considerably just by its mere presence.

The final event is probably the most bizarre I have ever had. It was late in 2003, about four months before I moved into my own place, when the following strangeness occured. I had been up rather late doing some 3D modeling, and was really tired when I eventually got to bed. I fell asleep not long after my head hit the pillow. I woke up in the early hours of the morning to find my bedroom door standing wide open. I found it a bit strange, since I never went to bed with an open door.

Thinking that I had just been too exhausted to bother closing the door, I lay there for a few minutes, contemplating whether I should get up or not. I eventually prepared myself to get up and close it, but as I was about to throw off the covers to get up, I saw a movement coming from the bathroom door next to my room.

A naked young woman emerged from the bathroom, walking towards the spare bedroom, the light outside our bathroom window illuminating her back. What was rather strange about her was that she had blue skin.

It was as if she was covered from head to toe in some form of luminous blue body paint.

I must have shifted slightly on my bed, because she stopped and looked towards me, a look of surprise on her face. We stared at each other for a few uncomfortable seconds, then she smiled, put her index finger to her lips and said: "Ssshhh". She flashed me another smile, then carried on walking, until she was out of my field of vision. I was sitting up in my bed, dumbstruck for several seconds, then got up and walked out towards the spare bedroom. Of course there was no-one to be found. My sister was snoring away in the room next door, and I checked the downstairs doors to find them securely locked and bolted. I eventually went back up to my room, closed my door, and shaking my head, settled down back into my bed to continue my sleep. During this event I never felt any sense of fear or dread, just an acute curiosity. To this day I still wonder what she was all about.

Any insights?

Hexotericka - Thinking back to your childhood, what animal have you always considered yourself to be? For as far back as I can remember, I've always considered myself to be cat. It is rare for me to have dreams with animals in them. So, when I recently dreamed about a snow leopard, I assumed it to be my spirit guide. I hope to find out for sure through future OOBE's.

The woman with blue skin is definitely interesting. I agree with others here. She could have been a fairy or an elemental. I think it might have been a water elemental rather than an earth elemental though. Was the bathroom close to an outdoor water source? That could explain why she came from the there.

Evilmonster, I also believe that the husky was something looking out for me. I never saw it again, but it gave me some support when I really needed it.

As for the blue woman, I totally agree. She was like nothing I had ever experienced, or even heard of before. She didn't have the 'feel' of a ghost, and, as you correctly stated, she acted the same way that a living person would. She even showed surprise when she noticed me looking at her.
Very curious indeed.

DeviousAngel, thanks for the comment.
Yes, we have wolf spiders here as well, and at first I thought that was what it was, perhaps just a species of wolf spider I hadn't seen before. Then it disappeared on me, making me change my mind very quickly!

About the stairs girl, I find it interesting that she never showed herself again after her angry outburst. Not to me or anyone else, for that matter. I just hope that she has found peace and moved on.

I can understand how my description of the blue woman would make you think of Mystique. The difference here, though, was that her skin was a much lighter shade of blue, and slightly luminescent. She had long, straight, dark brown or black hair (rather difficult to be completely sure which, because of the low light).
The fairy idea seems to gain more and more validity as I read more comments and hear others' thoughts on the matter.
And the suburb is called Faerie Glen, after all...

Great stories! Very unorthodox encounters. Have no clue as to what the hauntings are but the husky was a sign that someone or something is watching over you.

The strangest one for me was the naked blue lady. I found it strange for quite a few reasons:
A.) Why was she naked? Or better why did she have to use the bathroom?
B.) Why was her skin blue?
C.) She reacted almost like a living person would.

Ugh, I share your sentiments on the spider deal. I am not particularly afraid of them (although I should be, I have been rushed to the hospital twice because of anaphalactic shock from spider bites) because I live in a bit of a remote, deserty part of California and we get a lot of wolf spiders, which are essentially a smaller species of tarantula. They are not particularly venomous but they have a nasty bite that will take a good chunk out of your skin and leave a hell of a welt. We have the exterminator come and spray around outdoors because we have dogs and cats, and do not want them to get hurt by these spiders, especially since they do not make webs but burrow in the dirt and run around the backyard where the animals hang out. Anyway, we are still used to seeing them around and if the exterminator hasn't been out for a while they sometimes come inside. But the white spider you mention was just too much. Having it crawl on my monitor like that would have made me go through the roof.

The stairs girl--I think you got your answer from your investigations with her! I am not sure why she was so angry at you but perhaps she blames her parents for her death? It sounds like a very rebellious teenager-y attitude to take, and could be a good reason why she has been hanging around. I really hope she resolves her feelings and moves on.

The husky sounds like it was an awesome experience. I think it was a guardian type spirit, and it wanted you to cheer up after a very emotionally taxing day. I think it accomplished that goal too. 😊

The blue girl--I have to admit, I totally thought of Mystique from X-Men. No idea what that was all about... I am kind of with the others in thinking this might be some other kind of spirit, possibly fae. It does not necessarily sound human even though it looked the part.

Thanks for sharing your experiences!

Hi again, everyone, and thanks for the comments. Yes, these are probably some of the strangest and most unorthodox experiences I have ever had.

Bacchaegrl, I have never owned a husky, but I think they are beautiful animals.
As for the blue lady, in hindsight she was quite attractive, however, I was too puzzled and a bit shocked at that moment to see her in that way. Hehehe.
Both you and TerriLewis123 mentioned fairies. Several people I have spoken to have also come up with the fairy theory, though I don't know what to think of that. I have never really given the existence of fairies much thought, to be honest.
As for your mention of earth spirits being attracted to me, I really don't know. It is something to ponder and perhaps look into.

PrettyInPain, I am also very puzzled by the last appearance of the stairs girl. It just didn't seem to fit. In every essence she had the classic traits of a residual, but the last event seemed way too intelligent. As for her having it in for my friend, I still don't know. He is a real softy. Wouldn't hurt a fly.
As stated above, I do have a soft spot for huskies. Seeing it made me feel happy.

Moongrim, I am inclined to agree with you on investing in a portable video camera, though it would be rather useless at my current abode, since nothing even slightly strange has happened here in the year or so I have lived here.
And in any other circumstance I probably would have been very cheerful about a naked young lady in my bathroom. 😜

Otteer, I am glad you enjoyed reading my accounts. They were strange, no doubt about that. I do have a few more I will post up here, but none as puzzling or interesting as the ones above.

Regards,
Hex

i don't know about you, but I'd be inclined to invest in a portable video camera and keep with me at all times.

And I'd be a bit inclined to be cheerful too, seeing a naked young lady walking out of my bathroom any day of the week!

Hello, I agree with bacchaegrl, that the blue lady could be a fairy or nature spirit. (But I may have seen this on tv). And the husky is really cool. (I just bought a dreamcatcher with wolves on it).

Hexotericka,

Thanks for sharing your story, I really enjoyed it. When I read the part about the girl on the stairs, I thought it seemed residual as well. Then the incident where she got angry threw me off. I wonder if she was angered by something about your friend, or perhaps something else that had nothing to do with that situation. If it was residual, could it have been a fight she was having with her parents? That seems unlikely though, especially because of the angry lunge forward and exact position of your friend.

The beautiful husky seems to be some sort of animal guide. Do you have a certain soft spot or liking for that particular breed? That must have been a lovely experience, especially after the heartache and the angry spirit girl!

As far as the blue woman, you got me there.

Warmest Wishes,
PIP 😊

Oh man, I think I would have died right there if I saw a spider that big crawling down my computer. Ghost or not. Those are some really interesting experiences you have had. I'm glad you may have uncovered the truth about the stair girl, but I wonder why she seemed to have it in for your friend. I'm glad the phantom husky was there to comfort you. Have you ever owned a husky in realy life? As for the naked blue lady, was she hot? Just kidding. That's a really strange experience indeed. Maybe her blue skin denotes being frozen or an association with water. If this is a true ghost, maybe she is giving you a clue about how she died. Of course, I don't think anyone would really be a luminous blue when they died, but maybe it was somehow amplified in her ghostly presence. If not, maybe she was a fairy or nature spirit of some kind. A lot of people are more inclined to believe in ghosts rather than fairies. But hey, nothing should be discounted, right? Maybe earth spirits are attracted to you. Maybe all of your sightings have been of earth spirits, except for the stair girl. Just a thought. Maybe the earth is trying to reach out to you for some reason.
