A Beam Of Light

Several times in my living room some time ago, I experienced something strange. I would be sitting there relaxing and would suddenly become aware of a light, shivering in front of me. The nearest description I can give is that it was like seeing a light beneath a door, but shivering in mid air. I was aware of a "presence" and eventually after several times of experiencing this, I verbally acknowledged that fact, and then the light disappeared. I do not experience this anymore, but never felt threatened by this. I have never read nor seen any experience like this. The house I live in is council owned and I am not aware of any previous account of "haunting". I do know that the tenants that lived here before were an elderly couple and I believe that one of that couple died whilst in occupation of the property.

I have had one other experience and that was in my maternal great-grandfather's house when I was younger. I went to the old house to look after the premises whilst its last occupant, one of my great Uncles was out for the evening. I took my little dog there. Whilst sitting reading, I heard someone come down the steps to the back door and "alight" on the tiled area and knock at the door. I called out to ask who was there and no-one answered. I called out again but still received no answer, and the dog got up and approached the door, standing with its front paw lifted and pointing towards the door and growling. I then went to the window next to the door and pulled back the curtain but no one was there, nor was anyone retreating across the yard, which was reasonably well-lit from the other cottages which bordered it.

Hi SheilaSharpe

Sounds like a random haunting, perhaps from a passing spirit, or maybe a resident one, but from what I've read it doesn't seem to be menacing.
