Hi Wish-Not, thanks for sharing and that's quite an experience (s) indeed. As Val said, I would have had goosebumps second time when I heard the sound of chairs being moved and that too after you have kept it in its place and you say it was not on wheels. But I don't think it could be residual and so are the taps on your head. Would like to hear more about what others have experienced. Keep us informed.

Regards and respects to you.

Hey Val- The chair is one of those typical metal framed with a cushion seat and back that are stackable. It has a distinct sound as it's pushed forward and a different sound it is pulled. No wheels on this model so no umbrella needed 😁
In addition, it is a concrete floor. No carpet or other type of covering.

Wish-Not,
Not trying to rain on your parade or anything, but I'm curious if the 'moving chair' is a plain wooden one, or if it is on casters? Is the vault floor level? Really easy to test, just put a marble on it (like by the chair leg) and see if it rolls a bit. If the chair is on wheels, this would help out if actually moved or if a victim of gravity.
By the way, I'd have gone a tad 'crazy' too 😊.

Wish-Not - we have a desk chair where I work that, for years, I thought was haunted LOL. It would creak as if someone was moving in it. Took me a long time to figure out it was a delayed sound. When someone would get up from the chair, a few minutes later it would creak. Thought for sure we had someone non-living sitting in it 😆 But I've never seen it move, so that let's out my haunted chair story 😆

elnora- It is curious of different events here. We are also located in the oldest part of Batesville. There are numerous stories of haunted buildings all around the courthouse. One located catty-corner from the courthouse did have a write up about it in the local paper around Halloween.

There have been several request from paranormal researchers to investigate the courthouse. From my understanding all have been turned down. I often have been tempted to come out here at night and just set and listen. Maybe some time, Maybe.

Oh, our courthouse is made from limestone cut from a quarry not far from my house. Just some more rambling info.

Yeah I can imagine! Curious if you ever get ghost hunters who research properties? Kind of like TAPS does/used to do?

ifihadyoux- It is a cool place to work. And such history to be seen. There are books (records) of assessments from the 1800's that list everything from chickens, donkeys, to mules and everything in between.
As well as land grants that actually came from the government for folks who first laid claim to land.

The court records are fascinating from that time period as well.

Notjustme- Usually the current researchers do not put the chairs back in place so I was unsure of which one moved the first time. So I put them back in their proper place. (the OCD in me). But it did allow for me to see that one actually did move.

You just perfectly described one of the city buildings I grew up near, with the staircase and everything lol They were probably both built near the same time, which makes the visualization of this story really easy:D

This is really quite awesome. I like the idea of being able to wander about, researching, in the afterlife:D

Very cool experience. I would have gone "crazy" too haha. I grinned when I read you grinned because I could imagine the excitement. My guess is the spirit used to work there and sat in that spot?...still doing their work...

That sounds like an awesome place to work. I would probably spend forever in there just reading the books if I were able to.

Very weird about the chair being moved and she was watching it! That hardly happens. Very cool! It's possible that something is attached to a document in there perhaps?
