Three Knocks On The Door

This happened only about a week or so ago. My friend Chris just very recently passed away. I won't disclose on how since it was a shock to his friends and family. My boyfriend also happened to be his best friend and Chris was living in a spare room at my boyfriend's home... So you can imagine the despair.

About a week ago, soon after Chris passed away, something strange happened. I've been staying at my boyfriend's house to help him and his family emotionally deal with this and I've been sleeping with him in his room.

One night I was unable to fall asleep and it must've been 4 or 5 in the morning when I heard three knocks. Now everyone was asleep so it was very quiet. And normally when someone in my boyfriend's house knocks they always call out his or my name. We're all quite loud so I was a bit weirded out when after the first knock nobody said anything. Then the second knock came and it was much softer. By the third knock it was pretty soft as if the person didn't want to wake us. My boyfriend's dog was on the bed with us and he was staring at the door very intently. He wasn't growling but just staring and letting out a little whimper. It sent a shiver down my spine.

I mentioned this event to my boyfriend's family whom all immediately went to leave candles at Chris's door. I read online three knocks indicates someone who just died. So while it's scary I also feel sad. Because in the end spirits just want to say goodbye to us too. I keep wondering if he will come again. Thank you for reading.

My condolences to you, your boyfriend, and his family. This is a sad but heartwarming story. Chris may visit in someones dreams to say goodbye as it is easier for spirits to visit in dreams. You can go in his room and ask that he visit in one of your dreams or one of your boyfriends dreams. This will give the family some closure.
I wrote a story called Family Spirits which is about dreams I had about my grandfather after his death if you would like to read it.

Oh, this is sad. Oh, and this story had proven again the "time" spiritual event will happen! (4 or 5 in the morning, noted)

I have read the 3 knocks explanation somewhere too. Not directly related to me but many of some of my mother's side aunts used to talk about such stories about knocks on the door, I always felt so weird about those stories until now that I have read your story.
