Something Calling my Name

This happened to me a few years ago. Not really ghostly, but it scared me nonetheless. I was living with my partner in a new neighborhood. There weren't many people living in my street and there were no street lights yet.

My partner never took the keys to the house with him when he went to work. He always called for me when he came home. He worked nights, so he would wake me up between 12:00 and 1:00 am. Our bedroom was in the front, so from the bedroom window you could look right in the street.

One night, it was weekend, I had trouble falling asleep. I took a book and started reading. After half an hour or so I heard my partners voice, clear as day, calling my name behind the window adjacent to my bed. I did not react at once, because my partner had a noisy car (which I did not hear) and the porch made a rusty sound when you open it (which I also did not hear). But still I clearly heard his voice. I remained silent for I thought that if it was him he would call again. But he did not.

After another half an hour, or maybe longer, I suddenly heard the familiar noisy car coming up the drive way, the rusty porch being opened and my partner walking up to the bedroom window to call for me.

We related this to his mother and she said that something probably imitated him, since this is a 'ritual' he performs daily around the 'unholy hours'. Well, he broke that ritual at once, because ever since that incident he took his keys with him.

hello,
I want to comment about the unholy hours. The hours are from 3am-6am. There sure are times when it can began before 3am but the most assured time is 3am. The spell would most of the time stop at 6am. I go threw this a lot too. This is the time you should be up praying, reading psalms. ❤

I believe what you experience was in fact Paranormal, but like you, I don't think it was a ghost. In the book REAL GHOSTS, RESTLESS SPIRITS AND HAUNTED PLACES by Brad Steiger one passage talks about Phenomena such as what you experience... Because I don't have access to that information at the moment I can't be sure exactly of what it it's called, But I do know that it is predominant to those of Norwegian decent. (The person) will be going about daily task when they hear an " audible play " of a Love one/ friend/ whomever coming in and making a big fuss... Upon checking/asking after "visitor" they would be alone... Moments later the person they HEARD enter would come home... And even more amazing "play out"(for lack of a better word) the complete scene witnessed before verbatim.

Dear asje,

It could be possible that what you experienced was like an ingrained occurrence that played itself out whether your partner was there or not in 3D physical time and reality, because it was just that, an everyday ritual and occurrence. By your partner taking the key, he broke that everyday ritual. Sometimes, it is good to get out of a rut and do something different. The rut might be so deep, it bleeds across to the other side or dimension.

Otherwise, if your house is haunted, it may have been a ghost who is up to doing mischief at your expense. Although, I think it was just a rut bleed through.--Abby

KimSouth0, to us the unholy hours are between 12:00 and 5:00 am (the 'real' unholy hours are between 3:00 am and 5:00 am). We don't take it too serious because we thought of it as our elders' way to keep us from the streets at night 🤔. But still there are lots of stories told by people walking the streets that time of night, who 'bumped' into 'things' claiming the streets around those hours, e.g. Ghostly funeral processions, big dogs and the most common 'thing' called 'bakru' (looks like a small child, but creepy as hell)

what are the 'unholy hours' and how is that tradition and message carried on though generations> I am very curious now as I was extremely intrugued, if not a bit unsettled by your story.

Asje, your background is so interesting. I'm glad you didn't provoke this thing into being a regular part of your life. Good for you! 😁

Blessed, it definitely wasn't my mind playing tricks on me. Incidents like mine are quite common here in Suriname. I don't know who/what called my name, but it is believed (by the elders) that had I answered, something probably would've happened to me (they draw a link with black magic/evil spirits). They say that if you think you heard someone call your name, but you're not sure, (especially during the 'unholy hours' you shouldn't answer with 'ja'(='yes'), but with 'suma drapé' (='who's there'), or just be silent and wait to see if there really is someone there. That's what I instinctively did.

Good story, asje! I believe this possibly could've been a premonition of some sort. Or, since this is something that happened on a regular basis and you were expecting it to happen, it could've just been your mind imitating him calling you (the mind is very tricky at those late hours).
Sweetest Thing, asje's partner didn't perform a ritual per say. His mother was suggesting that since his coming home and waking asje up was a routine event "around the unholy hours" it would translate to a sort of ritual to whatever entity there was that could've imitated him.

That really interesting. Did she or he tell you what that ritual was? I would really like know. Anyhow interesting story.
