Real Ghost Stories

My Daughter's Dad

My daughter's father was killed in a motorcycle accident three weeks before she was born. He has visited me in dreams when something, good or bad, was about to happen that would have an impact on her.

Here are a couple of the most significant.

We grew up in a small town in Ohio. Everyone knew everyone else. John and my brother and sister-in-law had mutual friends named Patty and Moose. (His real name was Howard) My daughter called them aunt and uncle. So, this dream begins as a bright foggy place. Like the inside of a cloud. John came walking out and he looked to the side and waved to someone to join him. Moose appeared and they put their arms around each other, waved to me, and then turned and walked away. As they disappeared into the fog, the phone rang and woke me. It was my sister-in-law informing me that Moose had just died, minutes before...

The most recent was I was at my Dad's house and so was the rest of our family. We were trying to talk him out of going Somewhere, I didn't know in the dream where. When John came into the dream and told us "he'll be okay...just let him go...he'll be fine..." Four days later, my dad had a major stroke. He had been very ill with emphysema and had put on 100 lbs. From the breathing treatments. He was very tired, and as a result, he refused any life sustaining treatment. He passed a week later...

That dream helped me to handle the passing of my father like no words of condolence or sympathy ever could...

John doesn't visit me too often anymore, as our daughter is grown, with a daughter of her own and another on the way. But he still reminds me once in a while that he's there for me.

Nixie: Thank you for reading and commenting. Yes, he still pops in now and then. I don't know if you've taken the time to read through the comments thread, but this was my first published story. It's been a great adventure since!

Red: No worries! There are a lot of members experiences I haven't had the chance to get to yet as well, yours included. So on that note, we're pretty even Steven, my friend! Thank you for adding this to your faves! ❀

Granny,
I loved this story it's going into my favs. I'm sorry that it has taken me over 3 1/2 years to read it but some weeks I have trouble keeping up on current stories. Dogs, family (my motherin-law visits almost daily ARGHH). You do a wonderful job moderating as does Miracles.
I want to let the two of you know how much I appreciate the job you both do. I love reading your stories, I just wish I had the time to read them all.
Respectfully
Red

Hello zzsgranny!
I am so glad I read this. It was so sweet. I almost cried thinking about how lovely it was for Moose and your dad to have someone on the other side waiting for them. I'm sure there were others, but to know that someone in particular was there must have been special.

My condolences to you for those you have lost.

Granny - I'm not sure whether congrats or condolences are in order πŸ˜†. I guess it would depend upon the day and the mood of the site, huh? πŸ˜‰ Congrats, granny. I'm glad you're here with me.

Hey, that's a great story, to think that you are loved enough that someone has come back from the other side to visit you is the surest form of affection, I think, anyway...

lcturner3: It certainly does make you wonder!...There are so many signs that people miss, dismiss, or comletely ignore altogether πŸ˜†...But we know better, huh!

I hope your Dad visits you again, too... And if so, don't forget to post it... We love the simple, "wow, that was cool" experiences around here, because most of us are of the opinion that most experiences aren't movie material πŸ˜†

Thank you for reading and commenting! 😊

What a wonderful story Granny! Thank you for taking the time to read mine. I hope my Father visit again. I'm sure he will when he feels I really need his company and assurance. It's so surreal how loved ones can come to you in a dream and tell you something, then it happens. Makes you wonder how people don't believe in after life huh?

Take care! ❀

Congrats Granny on your 2000 post, on behalf of all the community here at YGS well done my friend... I too wish I could retract some of the comments I wrote here and elsewhere over the last couple of years, πŸ˜†...but I think its all part of our journey mate and it has been a pleasure to watched you grow on a spiritual level as to the way you have... I'm inspired in awe of how you have developed you own conceptions of the paranormal and distributed your knowledge and wisdom in all aspects and angles here for the community to consume... Keep up the good work Granny your the best... ❀

The Ballad of zzgranny...

It was just a normal day at YGS
Every one of us getting along
When out of nowhere a spark goes up
... And granny says "Now what's wrong?"

A newbie is throwing a hissy-fit
And flailing their arms in the air
Screaming how we are all full of it
Our comments they say are "not fair"

Then granny steps in and says with a grin,
"Now Taylor, you know the drill.
You cannot fool us, so knock off the fuss.
Your fiction is unwelcome still"

Then Taylor decided to push it
She didn't care who she annoyed
Then quick as a snap, came a loud thunderclap!
As granny sent her to the 'Void'

So do't mess with granny, you nasty old trolls.
Don't push her and don't make her mad.
We like when she's funny, her smile is sunny
But cross her and brother, you're had!

Need I say more?

Okay guys, here it is: my 2000th comment!...Let's see if I can get through it without too many typosπŸ˜†

First of all, I can't believe how much I've learned since submitting this, my first story, on YGS...I'm almost ashamed of some of my comments from when I first came here LOL!...

Secondly, I want Martin to know how much I've come to appreciate all his hard work... He runs not only this site, but the two sister sites as well... Thank you for having faith in me, and trusting my opinions and judgement...

And last, but so not least: My Loonie friends... I love each and every one of you... Paranormal snobs though you be! πŸ˜†...I'm finding it very hard to put into words how much I value our friendships... Your insight into many aspects of my life (not only ghostie goings-on), the support, the encouragement, the "virtual hugs", and even the "family in-fighting" have all brought me to a place I never would have found if not for all of you...You're all special people, and I hope to remain friends with you for the rest of my life...

That's all I got for now, I'll probably think of something a hell of a lot better after I post this πŸ˜†...
Kisses and hugs to everyone, and thank you all members, for allowing me small glimpses into your daily paranormal happenings!

geetha: Thank you for reading and commenting, and the faves placement! 😊...

I've come to the conclusion recently (with a little help from some Loonies) that a lot (but not all) of my visits from the other side come through in my dreams... John has come through with happy things too... The most recent one letting me know that Leslie is pregnant again, 2 days before I got the phone call from her! πŸ˜†...As he did with the other babies... All she does is laugh when she tells me she's pregnant, and my reply is, "I know!"...LOL

I have just recently signed up on this site but I have been reading many, many stories on site since I actually start my position with the City of Toronto. I was looking for people who had real life experiences with the paranormal and your stories were the first ones that I read. This story being one of the first onces. When I read the story, I thought of my mother who I think has a gift to tell if something is going to happen or if someone is going to die if she see her mother (my maternal grandmother in her dreams). My grandmother passed away many years ago and I still miss her so much. This is going in to my favourites.

DARKNESS - you knew there'd be some dumb blonde comments coming, didn't you? Yep, thought I was the only one who'd make those kinds of comments. I've had to have granny bail me out before because I did that πŸ˜†. From the sounds of things, you and Chucky must have had a hell of a time πŸ˜†. Man I'm glad this is granny's story LOL!

Glad to know you're not going anywhere, my friend 😊.

DARKNESS - I had started to bed 2 hours ago πŸ˜†. Glad I had to stay up. I'd wondered if you'd abandoned us. Nice to see you haven't 😊.

Amazing, isn't it, the bond between Granny, Leslie and John? Even though John's no longer able to be with them in this life, he's made it obviously clear that, when it's important, he's here for them. Amazing ❀.

Peter: thank you so much for your kind words!...I think you're a sweet person too 😊...

I can tell you, the last dream I had about John: it was on a friday night...Okay, so me, my hubby and my daughter were in the car, pulling into a drive way, and at the end of the drive stood her Dad... As we passed, she said to me, "Wasn't that my Dad?", and I answered that it was... We parked the car, he came up to her door (she was in the back seat) and I said, "John, meet Leslie"...She said, "Oh I've met him already!"...and gave him a hug... I noticed he had a friend with him, something that never happened in these dreams before, and I asked him about it... He told me I'd know who they are soon enough...

When I woke up Saturday morning, I fully intended to call my daughter, but with work and my phone battery being dead, I just didn't get to it...So, Sunday morning, I got a phone call from Leslie, informing me that she is pregnant again! LOL πŸ˜†

Sorry this comment was so long, I just wanted to let everyone know that these dreams don't always portend the passing of loved ones!

Thank you for reading, Peter! ❀

zzsgranny,

Reading this sad and yet wonderful sharing did have me sigh a few times... And its so true that those who we were close to in life will keep in touch with us once they are in that other world. God bless you granny, you are a sweet person!

I had a similar encounter with my dad's spirit. After he died, I worried about where his spirit had gone and would emphatically ask "Where did he go?". One day, I could hear his elated voice say, "You wouldn't believe where I am now!" The tone of his voice said it all. On another topic, I recently submitted the "ghost taking jewellery" story you responded to. There is still no sign of the ring 😒. Blondie
